Star Trekkin Across the Universe!

Advantages: excellent story and acting, amazing effects
Disadvantages: Uhura and Spocks relationship

I did not have many expectations for this film, as it has received mixed reviews but I did think that the trailers for it made it look very good, but this is usually the case and the trailers end up showing the best bits of the film., I can honestly say that in this case the trailers only showed a small amount of what turned out to be an excellent film. I was not a fan of the original series of Star Trek, I mush preferred The Next Generation so never really found out how Kirk became the Captain at such a young age and I loved how I was able to find this out from the storyline to this film. I thought that the storyline was very well thought-out and I enjoyed finding out the backgrounds of the main characters. Star Trek Nemesis is a brilliant film

Advantages: brilliant sci fi action

...I love star trek, I am a avid viewer of the TV series and my favourite one is Voyager but sadly they have never had a film devoted to them and the TV series has now finished but admiral Janeway (formerly captain of the USS Voyager) does appear in this film in a communication to captain Jean Luc Picard (The caption of the Enterprise E). Star Trek - Alternately Outstanding

Advantages: Fantastic Action and spills, the effects are amazing and will pull in new fans

STAR TREK IX "INSIGNIFICANT"

Advantages: Quality Widescreen Picture, DD 5.1
Disadvantages: Could Easily Be Mistaken For An Extended TV Episode!

...honest will only appeal to die-hard Star Trek fans, even I struggled to enjoy it. Saying this it has a brilliant music score, one of Jerry Goldsmiths best I think, and it has a good twist to the movie, (if you can bare with it that long). We also see some good character moment?s, Riker and Troi especially as they ?hot? up their relationship somewhat. The location of the village is really paradise, (even though it has been done up a bit I expect), but its wonderful scenery, and some of the special effects are awesome. The sound as usual is of top quality, DD5.1 for this type of movie is important, but Star Trek always seems to take it to the next level, at times it really does feel that the phaser fire or the ship is on top of you! Advantages: All the original cast return.
Disadvantages: Can be slow in parts.

...should have been originally including a number of additional scenes added to the film that give it a greater scope and opens up the characters a bit more. I watched this film again the other day for the first time in about two years since I bought the DVD and was happy to see this as a Star Trek film that is unique in the costumes, the surroundings, characters and story. As the films progressed they became more action orientated, which this isn't. This film is not about space battles; it's about self discovery and is true to Gene Roddenbury's vision.
