Star Trek Original Series - Season 1
Review of Star Trek - The Original Series - Series 1 DVD by
davwan
Advantages: If your a Original Star Trek Fan you'll just want this
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I have been a Star Trek fan since they showed the show on the BBC in the 70's. Crikes I even remember being taken by my dad to see ST:TMP at the local ABC cinema (I even remember my kid sister snoring as she fell asleep!).
But I digress!
Having bought the original series on video in the grand old days of "lets run to WH Smiths every fortnight and fork over £9.99 for the next two episodes" if only I knew!
I have had the original series on video for years - with the degradation and grain, I knew it was time to update. When the original series first landed on DVD, I knew I wanted them, but there was no way I was going to fork over £79 a box (lessons learned!), so I waited. Luckily, my wait has paid off, and HMV in there wonderful summer sale has all the boxes going cheap £44 each - nice!
The box set is lovely - in command gold...

The last in the Star Trek movie series... so far
Review of Star Trek - Nemesis (Special Collector's Edition) by
phurren2006
Advantages: The 'Next Generation' crew all return
Disadvantages: Poor storyline
...The 10th film in the STAR TREK movie series, NEMESIS is also the final one to date, and is the 4th to feature the 'Next Generation' crew, led by Captain Picard, played by Patrick Stewart.
The film sees a Romulan clone of Picard's, called Shinzon, seek revenge and threaten the destruction of the Federation with a powerful new weapon. Shinzon is played by Tom Hardy, most recently seen as Bill Sikes in BBC's new adaptation of OLIVER TWIST, broadcast just before Christmas. Shinzon is clearly designed to be a 'nemesis' to Picard in much the same way that Khan was Kirk's nemesis in the second Star Trek movie, but unfortunately the character comes across simply as virtually a pantomime villain. Patrick Stewart and the rest of the regular cast perform admirably in the face of a poor script, and the character progression that Data has gone...

Star Trek: TNG - Wish I was a crew member
Review of Star Trek - The Next Generation - Series 1-7 - Complete DVD by
dratcliffe
Advantages: Star Trek what more can be said?
Disadvantages: Not enough hours in the day to watch!
...What would I have done without Star Trek: The next generation?
Well.... I could have studied and become a doctor, got rich, travelled the world - I could go on but I won't instead I discovered the fantasy world of Star Trek:TNG and it will be with me forever!
Now I am not a complete Trekkie (apologies to those who are) I don't like the orignal series at all - Deep Space 9 was ok, Never got into Voyager and haven't even seen an episode of Voyager. I guess in some respects Star Trek is a generational thing, by that I mean I got into TNG when I was in my teens when it was new so it is MY version of what Star Trek is. My mum says the originals are the best as that was her generation of Star Trek - Am I making any sense? Probably not so I'll leave it at TNG is my idea of Star Trek world.
This box set was given to me as a gift and I...

An interesting new series for Star Trek Fans
Review of Sky 1: Star Trek - Enterprise by
Simoncook1
Advantages: Unique and interesting insight into early exploration
Disadvantages: May not appeal to non Star Trek fans
...Like a closet exploding with tribbles, there have been more Star Trek related movies, shows and products than I’ve had hot dinners – and I love it! I admit to being a huge fan and as such have written many opinions on the subject. After watching final episodes of Deep Space 9 and Voyager there was a void in my life even though The Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager are continually repeated. It was inevitable that there would be another series as it is a huge worldwide success.
Enter ‘Enterprise’, a pre-Kirk production that explores the first explorations of man into space.
<Introduction>
About 100 years after the movie ‘First Contact’ in which the discovery of Warp Drive triggers the first meeting between man and aliens (Vulcans), we enter a period where man’s curiosity drive him to explore...

Star Trek The Mag.
Review of Star Trek the Collectors Edition by
nona1661
Advantages: It's Star Trek.
Disadvantages: It's Star Trek.
...One day last week i was in my local shop getting my usual daily stock of cigs and chocolate. I was just about to leave when it caught my eye. A very large piece of cardboard( about the size of 2 A4 sheets of paper) with the words Star trek on it and a magazine and a dvd stuck to it.It had grabbed my attention when i looked furtherer i noticed that it was a new magazine series about star trek. It comes with a dvd of a particular film or tv episode and a magazine about that dvd and it only costs £3.99 (after the first issue the price goes up to £7.99). So being a bit of a star trek fan i decided that this was too good an opportunity to miss so i bought it.
For those of yous that don't know about star trek (where have you been for the last 40 years) here is a brief description of what star trek is.
Star trek( this is now know as tos...

The Best Season of all Star Trek
Review of Star Trek : Deep Space Nine - Series 6 (Box Set) by
Virogen
Advantages: Ambitious Writing, Dominion War, Special Features
Disadvantages: Price
...Series 6 of Deep Space Nine, to me, represents the absolute pinnacle in science fiction writing for television. In no other show will you see such a wide range of characters being developed in the course of a season. It is amazing that they were able to balance the development of the eight regular cast members (Sisko, Kira, Odo, Bashir, O'Brien, Quark, Jadzia, and Jake) against the continuing development of nearly 20 guest characters throughout the season. The complexity that results is fantastic, and this is all set to backdrop of the Dominion War - the first multi-season arc in Star Trek.
The season starts out with an amazing six episode arc the runs from "A Time to Stand" to "Sacrifice of Angels". In these episodes you see Starfleet and the Federation on the brink of defeat after having to abandon Deep Space Nine...

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Review of Star Trek - The Motion Picture DVD by
phurren2006
Advantages: The entire main cast from the TV show return
Disadvantages: It is very slow
...----------------
INTRODUCTION
----------------
Released in 1979, STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE is a sequel to the 1960s television show STAR TREK. The franchise had suffered the ignominy of an animated series in the mid-1970s, which is in fact regarded quite highly amongst aficionados, but this film really kickstarted the STAR TREK franchise, leading to a further 9 films with yet another currently being made, and another four TV series to date. The STAR TREK saga truly is the franchise that wouldn't die and this film has a large part to play in that (although not as large a part as the second film - STAR | | |
