...Voyager may have stopped production now, but how does the 4th series with the great Star Trek name comapre? Based on a new spaceship design, the intrepid class 'Voyager' (NCC 74656) is the pride of Starfleet, until it disappears that is. After a battle Voyager finds itself flung 70,000 light years across the galaxy to the Delta Quadrant, with the only way to get home is a 70 year trip through space. So they set off on their journey, and naturally meet a whole host of creatures and cultures on the way. (And just in case anyone cares, the maximum speed warp is 9.975). Of course, the fact that Voyager is stranded in un-charted space mean that the script writers have an open book. They are not bounded by rules that would come with the well known space that the Federation, klingons etc inhabit. New aliens could be created for the show... Read review

Advantages: A very playable game, a good all rounder
Disadvantages: possibly that there should be more multi-player modes i.e capture the flag

.... In this game you can choose your character as either a man or a woman, which I thought was very unusual but welcome for the ladies no doubt. You start the game in the holodeck (a simulator) in a Borg cube and you have to rescue your team. You are part of a hazard team and are sent into a series of difficult environments to save voyager. The story line at the start is that voyager is attacked by an alien ship, when they fire back the alien ship explodes and voyager is somehow teleported to a type of junkyard. Your first real mission is to collect data. The good news for star trek fans is you get to fight against many alien species from the TV series like the hirogen, Borg, but also alpha quadrant people like humans and klingons. The voices of the main characters like janeway, tuvok are real but for some reason 7 of 9s voice isn’t... Read review

Advantages: Excellent graphics
Disadvantages: No Seven of Nine voice.........

...Before I start, I think its necessary to admit that I already had Elite Force pre-ordered a month before it was released, but I will try to be as unbiased as I can be, (I am a huge fan) Elite Force is the first PC Game to feature the Star Trek: Voyager characters, including voices from 99% of the cast, the only person not providing their voice is Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine). I don't know the reason for this, but there is a Seven of Nine character in it. There are many missions on this game, I know that I lost count after about 35. You take the role of a member of the recently formed Hazard Team, who have been assigned to protect Voyager in times of dire need. The missions take you into many different environments, including a Borg Ship, (which I can assure you is fun). The game is run using the Quake III engine, and I can honesty... Read review

Advantages: Looks like its going to be good
Disadvantages: Multiplayer option is disappointing

...ever so slightly of Half-Life, whether the actual game can meet up to this remains to be seen though. The multi-player option has only two levels in the demo, and I must say that I wasn't that impressed. You can play as any member of the crew (Seven of Nine perhaps being a popular option?), but unfortunately I am not a fan of Quake3 and I think that the multiplayer option in Elite force appears to be in my opinion worse than Quake3. They should have used the Unreal engine and then the multiplayer game would have been a joy to behold. I suppose you can't have everything. If you are after a FPS which will require thinking as well as shooting with an involving story line I think Star Trek Voyager Elite Force could well be what you are looking for.... Read review

Advantages: A great story

...Star Trek Elite Force was the first of the two star trek elite force games. And i have to say, this is one of the best star trek games to date. The story starts in a holodeck simulation fighting the Borg. Then, USS Voyager is attacked by an unknown probe. Captain Janeway comanding Voyager orders the probes destruction when the ship is almost destroyed. As a result of destroying the probe, Voyager is transported to a star trek grave yard where a huge space station called the forge is draining the energy from the all the ships in the area including Voyager. With a limited amount of time before Voyager is disabled, Janeway must put in service Voyager's new security team, the hazard team lead by LT Foster and second in command Ensign Munro, your character.
