Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Series Vol.1
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol.1 DVD by
Itstar77
Advantages: Great character design. Interesting Stories
Disadvantages: A bit short.
...This is the first series of the Clone Wars cartoon series which fills in some of the gap between the second and thirds episodes of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
There is a lot to enjoy here. I love the animation style used here which is very stylised and full of energy. The series is produced by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack, and the look and design of Clone Wars owes a lot to that series. All the main characters from the Prequels return in animated form along with a few new characters such as the evil Sith Apprentice Asij Vantress. With the exception of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) the voices are done by a cast of experienced voice actors and they do a great job, although there is noticably little dialogue in this first series.
The series itself was originally broadcast...

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
Review of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones - Original Soundtrack by
berlioz
Advantages: A solid Star Wars score with an absolutely fantastic new theme
Disadvantages: Muddy recording quality and a little less exciting action for a Star Wars score
...Now that the Star Wars prequel saga has reached its Third and final episode I think its time I handled the remaining Episodes in my soundtrack evaluations, handling Episode II first. With The Phantom Menace proving to be a big disappointment for audiences due to its weak story, incredibly irritating and silly characters, and the over-reliance on CGI, there was much less expectation and trepidation for Attack of the Clones. With Anakin Skywalker now grown up he is assigned along with his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi to protect Princess Padmé Amidala who has recently become a senator and whose life is now being threatened. This then leads to a forbidden romance between Anakin and Padmé, the consequences proving to be far-reaching as we all know. And furthering the rise of the Galactic Empire is the Trade Federation's creation of an army...

The Clone Wars, Begun They Have!!!
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol.1 DVD by
CaptainDisaster
Advantages: Good animation and action sequences, terrific music
Disadvantages: So-so extras, lack of plot coherency
...Star Wars: Clone Wars is an animated feature designed to bridge the gap between the films Episode II (Attack of the Clones) and Episode III (Revenge of the Sith). It comes in 2 volumes, this obviously being the first.
The first volume was originally designed to be a series of 3 minute commercials but ended up being combined to an approximately 1 hour long feature. The animation style is something approaching anime (I know nothing about anime but the director says in one the "Making Of" featurette that they aimed for a similar but not identical style.) Traditional 2D animation is used except for the ships themselves, which are computer animated.
The action comes in thick and fast, with the eye candy factor quite dazzling at times. This doesn't make up entirely for a lack of coherent plot, though this is not the developers fault...

Clone Wars Volume 2, better it is!
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol.2 DVD by
CaptainDisaster
Advantages: Everything that was good about Volume_1 + more coherent storyline, more humour, and better extras
Disadvantages: Too short at only an hour
...and the voice acting is more convincing here. The storyline leads right up to the intro sequence of Revenge of the Sith, and though I've already seen the film this made me want to watch it again. Things culminate with a surprise attack on the galactic capital (it says this on the DVD sleeve so not a spoiler!), with the little green dude getting right into the thick of the action. (Come on, surely you knew I was referring to Yoda?!?!?) Good stuff that is always entertaining, often amusing, and for fans of the Star Wars saga, quite revealing… Of course the whole Clone Wars series is designed to bridge the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, which it does extremely well. Added to which we have of course been wondering about these clone wars ever since it was mentioned by Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi and Luke Skywalker in the original Star...

"You fought in the Clone Wars?"
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol.1 DVD by
kyrane
Advantages: Great action sequences bridging episode 2 and 3
Disadvantages: Stylised animation / different voices
..."You fought in the Clone Wars?" Luke Skywalker - Star Wars - A New Hope.
This line became perhaps one of the more exciting ones the classic trilogy when George Lucas first announced that he was going to make the prequels. However, fans maybe a little disappointed with the Clones Wars not starting until the very tail end of Attack of the Clones and almost finishing during Revenge of the Sith. This where the Clone Wars animated series comes in.
When Lucas decided that Episode 3 was going to take place 3 years after Episode 2 and it would be three years realistically between the movie openings (2002 - 2005) it wasn't long before Clone Wars spin-offs were being planned to fill in the time.
The Clone Wars Animated series is made up of 3 minute shorts that were originally shown on Cartoon network. Each one consists of various...

The Ultimate Star Wars Poll
Review of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones (Wide Screen) (Two Discs) (Sell Through) (DVD) by
willgould
Advantages: Brilliant film.
Disadvantages: Hayden Christensen
...And a review of some film as well....
I would have preferred it if George Lucas could have just used a Muppet for the part of Anakin instead of actually paying Hayden Christensen for ruining his movie, or at least trying to. The reason i gave it Five stars is solely because of Yoda and the end battle, as far as i was concerned twenty minutes of Light Sabre fights easily make up for a shoddy first half and wooden performances. In terms of acting Star Wars Episode 2: Attack Of The Clones was dire, but i wasn't there to rate performances, i was there to see Yoda fight.
Whilst i loved the overall product it was full of irritating moments that caused me to be disappointed in parts but thrilled in general. Only from Christopher Lee and Samuel L Jackson were there any signs of life or real talent, wheras everyone else kept their hands...

Sith score completes Williams' Star Wars cycle
Review of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (+DVD) - London Symphony Orchestra by
alexdg1
Advantages: John Williams' score, great performance by the LSO
Disadvantages: Tracks don't follow the film's action
...McNeeley, Danny Elfman, Cliff Eidelman, and James Horner -- to follow in his footsteps.
Because the Star Wars saga is essentially a 1930s "Saturday afternoon adventure serial" with, as Han Solo might have put it, "special modifications," composer Williams has to use musical themes that act as a unifying thread in the two-trilogy tapestry. All six Episodes, therefore, begin with the familiar Star Wars Main Title that underscores the title crawl that sets up the storylines. Also present in some form are The Rebel Fanfare and The Force Theme, which doubled as both Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi's theme and the mystical energy field from which both the Jedi and the Sith draw their amazing powers.
Each Episode also introduced new major themes and action cues as the story expanded and new characters were added. Some action motifs were unique...

George Lucas Remembers What Made Star Wars Fun
Review of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones (Wide Screen) (Two Discs) (Sell Through) (DVD) by
Dick_Dangerous
Advantages: Yoda gets his lightsabre out. What more could anyone possibly want?
Disadvantages: A Star Wars love story was always going to be cheese on toast.
...*Plot spoilers must you beware! Yes! Dark side will you join and Dick Dangerous will you mangle unmercifully if read this review you do and film have you not seen. Yes!*
The scene - at a meeting of the board of directors of Lucasfilm ltd...
"George, George! Come in... take a seat..."
Lucas: Thanks. What did you think of the new film, "The Phantom Menace"?
"George, we've watched the film, and we've got feedback from the test audiences and... well... frankly it sucks. It's one of the worst two and a half hours in cinema history. What on Earth possessed you to make such an unmitigated piece of crap?"
Lucas: I didn't think it was that bad...
"George, Star Wars is targeted at an audience of under 12s. They don't want to watch a dull film about a tax dispute between Natalie Portman and a race of aliens which speak like Otis...

The Force is with Star Wars Trilogy DVD
Review of Star Wars - The Original Trilogy (Box Set) by
alexdg1
Advantages: All three Special Edition films are here, nice sound, crisp picture
Disadvantages: None
...with extreme care.
Obviously, when Amazon.com e-mailed me on March 31st to tell me that The Star Wars Trilogy was available for pre-order, I promptly ponied up to my computer and, Visa in hand, hit the "Order" button for the widescreen edition faster than the Millennium Falcon can jump to light speed. At first I opted for Standard Shipping for "same-week" delivery, but three days before the release date I upgraded to One Day Shipping, and on Sept. 21st I had my four-disc set.
Part Two: "Now we find out if the Trilogy is worth the price we paid."
The three films that make up the Star Wars Trilogy (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, aka Episodes IV, V, and VI) comprise the second half of a six-film series that includes the films Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and the upcoming...

Should this be branded under Star Wars
Review of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones (Wide Screen) (Two Discs) (Sell Through) (DVD) by
garyretro
Advantages: A yoda Fightscene
Disadvantages: The Film
...Hi just got up and thought I would tell you about what I think of Attack of the clones.
When I was 5 I watched my first ever Star Wars movie which was Return of the Jedi and as a kid I can remember being drawn in to a world of aliens, robots, lightsabers and the force. I remember my older brother buying me the action figres to play with and I used to pretend to be Luke Skywalker and would play for hours pretending to take on the darkside. As I grew up and had more money to spend I started to collect Star Wars membroilla as a hobby (NO NOT TO PLAY WITH) including loads of action figures I loved the films and couldnt get enough. Sorry to bore you but you will see my point in a minute.
In 1996 when the Special edition Star Wars came out I rushed to the cinema and watched all three films Star Wars, The Empire Strikes back...
