Knights Of The Old Republic - Jedi Vs Sith Again?
Review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) by
Jak2039
Advantages: Excellent Story, Vivid Graphics, Light Side Or Dark Side Options
Disadvantages: Click & Play May Not Suit All Players
...Unlike many Star Wars games, where the action is based in the era of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, or Darth Maul and Obi-Wan, Knights of the Old Republic is based 4000 years earlier. This is a refreshing new perspective on the Star Wars scene, in a time when the Sith marched around in shiny, metallic suits of armour and people used swords and staffs.
Knights Of The Old Republic follows your character, whom you can customise with a variety of options, such as face, skills, feats, etc. Those who have played Neverwinter Nights will find this very very familiar, but new players may find it a bit confusing at first. A good read of the manual will do wonders however and soon you'll be in the game levelling up like you've been playing it all your life.
You pick your class and you're immediately thrown into the action, on a transport...

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II (XBox)
Review of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II (XBox) by
lucylou606
Advantages: Its star wars after all.
Disadvantages: not as good as the first one.
...This is a great Star Wars roleplay game for anyone who loves the star wars universe. It really wets you appitite for the eagerly awaited new movie out this year.
You can control upto 3 characters on your journey through the universe. You can build up your character and become a jedi master and every desicion you make will lead to your charateristics.
If you have played the first one you will probaly want to play the 2nd one. I don't believe it is has good as the first, the story is slower, until you reach near the end of the game. And forever confused with the drips of the story line you are given, quite frustrating. Although the good points are you can reach a higher level than in the first game and enjoy more options as a jedi and reach a higher level.
Don't just take my word for it though, every game can be played...

Knights of the Old Republic.
Review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) by
hero164
Advantages: Great Story, Strong Gameplay, Good Graphics, Lightsabers
Disadvantages: Occasional Glitches, Slightly repetative in middle section.
...Knights of the Old Republic is a third person RPG set in the star wars universe in an era before any of the films are set. In this time period, the mandalorian wars have finished and the Jedi and Sith are battling for control of the Galaxy.
The game begins with you on a spaceship that is under attack battling to save Ballista, a Jedi with the 'Battle Meditation' special power who can turn the tide of the war. Choosing to be either a soldier (combat class), Scout (shooting and stealth) or Scoundral (silver tounged all rounder) you set off on your mission. The game follows Advanced D&D rules and you gain experience that you can spend on skills (security, persuasion, computers, demolition), feats (weapon proficiency, use of implants, special attacks) or characteristics (strength, wisdom etc.). It is possible to have wildly varying...

STAR WARS NIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC (X-BOX)
Review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox) by
masternewt
Advantages: the game is huge
Disadvantages: the control system can be fiddly and a little annoying
...STAR WARS NIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC
Ok to start off with the game is very well presented with an amazing opening sequence that gets you right in the mood from the start, you see those big yellow letters rolling off in to the back ground and you know your back on familiar territory and it feels GOOD!.
It takes a few minuets to set up and get in to the action but from this point you know the game is a bit of a hi-brid, not action by any means but also not quite RPG and this as with a lot of console games is not a bad thing.
You do not at any time get in to the aiming side of things while shooting, it's put into a kind of D&D turn based affair with you instructing what you want your character to do, at some points you have a fair amount of people clambering around on screen in your party it can take some thought in telling them...

Ye Olde KotOR
Review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox) by
Magrippinho
Advantages: Timeless Story, Exemplary Sound, Great Gameplay
Disadvantages: Loading Times, Compatible with 360 only after updating
...Back in 2003 BioWare delighted the video game world by creating a Star Wars game that was actually *good*. Knights of the Old Republic bulls-eyed one of the largest target groups in history by achieving a fine equilibrium: It had an abundance of Star Wars lore to appease the most hardcore of fans, but it was set four thousand years before the evens of the revered movies, requiring virtually no knowledge of them to enjoy its breathtaking story. Also, it had its RPG running behind the scenes, there to be appreciated by the tabletop gamer, or ignored by the action/shooter one. Everyone could get in, but few would get out without completing the enthralling adventure set a long, longer, time ago.
***The Game***
Before getting to the traditional Star Wars® intro, players first create their avatar. Gender, Looks and Name are pretty...

A good Star Wars game?! Whatever next...
Review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox) by
Notorious-Biggles
Advantages: Star Wars!
Disadvantages: Star Wars!
...In the known universe there are some physical constants. Like Plancks constant.
Now one of those constants was that all star wars games ever since TIE Fighter must be really poor. Another was that RPGs are rather beardy.
Then along came Knights Of The Old Republic and disproved those constants.
The premise is this: 4000 years before the Death Star and stuff the Jedi (obviously) are fighting the Sith (obviously). You play a character who wakes up on a ship and your memory is all to pot and you have to save the universe or take it over.
The thing is, everything you do does indeed influence the game. You can follow the light side or the dark side. And yeah, you do get to use the force. Different force powers for different paths.
You also get other characters to join you in your quest. You can control these other characters...

Sleepless Knights
Review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox) by
theman_uk_2k
Advantages: Immersive, great storyline, plenty content
Disadvantages: not much
...After a series of disappointments the Star Wars franchise finally delivers. Previous Star Wars games have simply been cash-ins on the name. This, however, is different.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) is a role playing game (RPG) where the playable character comes from one of three different types. These are scoundrel, scout and soldier. Each class has their own advantages and disadvantages. As in many other RPG games the character classes differ in their balance between brains and brawn; in KOTOR scoundrels are the brains, soldiers are the brawn and the scout is in between.
KOTOR manages to excel in the way that although it is has a very detailed storyline with good characterisation, it also hands the player plenty freedom within the game. The story in the game is set 4000 years before any of the other Star...

Knights of the old republic
Review of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II (XBox) by
reznor_gr
Advantages: great scenario
Disadvantages: more like a clone game
...the pressure to see how it ends. My point here is: It still smells fresh.( made it better) For those who didn't manage to play the first one, grab a chair and make yourself comfortable.
This game starts thousand years before any star war movie you have seen, so don't expect to see any familiar character in there, you wont. It is an Rpg/adventure. That means you have a character, many places to visit, many levels to achieve (making your character stronger, smarter, it really depends upon your choices), having a lot of conversations with other individuals (Bad English = don't play this game).and you have to kill many bad guys of course.
Your character starts as a Jedi, a Jedi who has lost everything. You don't have a lightsaber, you don't have any powers, and you don't have friends. Feeling lonely? Not for long, as the game goes on, step by step...

Everything the original Star Wars movies weren't!
Review of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox) by
ps2gamer890
Advantages: Great story, Great voice-acting, Well-written characters
Disadvantages: Bland graphics, first few hours are rather dull, bugs
...Are you a Star Wars fan? Chances are that you've seen the movies, liked them, and want to immerse yourself in them
Are you an RPG fan? Get this.
Do you hate Star Wars and/or RPGs?
Get this.
I liked Star Wars a fair bit (the old ones anyway) but before I purchased this, I had never really played an RPG. They always had far too much of the supernatural and fantasy in them to be beliveable.
But this is a really good down-to-earth Star Wars game.
It never overdoes it's theme and subject, and stands up a fantastic game in its own right.
Set about 4000 years before the events of the movies occured, the game lets you create your own mysterious character and class (soldier, scout, and scoundrel) The soldier has more strength and fights better, the Scout is great at exploring, and the Scoundrel can talk his way out of sticky situations...

Greatest Star Wars game ever?
Review of Star Wars Republic Commando (Xbox) by
clra2
Advantages: great graphics for xbox game, simple squad commands, intense action sequences, great presentation
Disadvantages: some minor glitches, multiplayer is bland, ammo is scarce, campaign is short
...this game with another person. Another thing is your squad while is smart 95% of the time there is that 5% where they kind of are stupid. They followed me into the thick of battle and just stood there and were picked off by droidekas. Also there are some scenes in campaign that I completed through trial and error which is extremely time consuming. Luckily checkpoints were fairly common and bacta health tanks were decently spaced. Also there are some glitches in the game. For example I had one of my squadmates get stuck in a pipe before and sometimes the sound effects (which are standard Star Wars) dissappear (this happened when I played Knights of the Old Republic too). Finally there are some parts that leave you scratching your head about the stupidity of your nonsquadmates. The normal clone troopers and wookies you encounter throughout...
