Reviews of star wars episode iii
brilliant marketing strategy and a great cartoon
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol.1 DVD by
corkeyboy
Advantages: Star Wars fans will love this bridge between ep 2 and 3
Disadvantages: The style of animation may put some people off.
...Genndy Tartakovsky who is also the creator of Dexters laboratory the powerpuff girls and the brilliant Samurai Jack, brings us another masterpiece of stylish animation which won him the 2004 Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program.
The style of animation in the Clone Wars cartoons is very similar in style to the Samurai Jack cartoons so if you find that style annoying then you should give this a miss.
Some of the characters look like caricatures, particularly the depiction of Qui-Gon Jinn which is supposed to look like Liam Neeson but looks like the elephant man.
The cartoon takes off just after the end of Attack of the clones and finishes literally seconds before the opening scenes of Star Wars episode III - Revenge of the Sith. This DVD doesnt show the full series and only goes up to episode 20. The thing that surpirsed me and is I...

The rise of the Empire.
Review of Star Wars Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith (Wide Screen) by
TheDuke
Advantages: It's Star Wars at its best.
Disadvantages: Some cruddy acting, a few errors, some pieces feel forced (no pun intended)
..."How do you make a story interesting and compelling when practically everyone knows how it ends?"
That's the problem, isn't it? Everyone's been aware of how Episode III would end for nigh on twenty years and yet he has still managed to produce a film that's exciting and interesting to watch. If you're a Star Wars fan, that is. If you're not, or if you've not seen any of the previous movies then this isn't for you.
Wiping away the farce that was Jar Jar Binks in Episode I or the "comedy of errors" of the two droids towards the end of Episode II, Episode III takes the story on a dark, downward spiral that previously I'd thought Lucas couldn't do and the film does not suffer for it at all.
The film begins in typical Star Wars fashion. The Flash Gordon-esque scrolly text gives a brief overview of the background to the beginning of Episode...

Sith score completes Williams' Star Wars cycle
Review of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (+DVD) - London Symphony Orchestra by
alexdg1
Advantages: John Williams' score, great performance by the LSO
Disadvantages: Tracks don't follow the film's action
...to a specific movie; The Forest Battle from Return of the Jedi and Landspeeder Search from A New Hope never recurred in any other Star Wars film. On the other hand, The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme), Yoda's Theme from The Empire Strikes Back, and The Emperor's Theme are quoted in all the subsequent Episodes in various guises, since those three characters are major players in both the Prequel and Classic Star Wars trilogies.
Because Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith's narrative deals with Anakin Skywalker's tragic transformation into the evil Darth Vader and the rise of the Galactic Empire, Williams' score blends music from The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones with such familiar themes from A New Hope as Luke's Theme and Princess Leia's Theme. And intertwined with the familiar motifs are new cues such as the signature Battle...

Great for the Star Wars people out there!
Review of Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer (DC) by
paul170184
Advantages: Star Wars eat ya heart out!
Disadvantages: None - unless you don't like Star Wars
...The simultaneous release of Star Wars Episode I on videotape and Star Wars Episode I:Racer for the Dreamcast was no coincidence; with Episode I merchandising for toys and other items fizzling and with Episode II still a ways off, LucasFilm and LucasArts were looking to give Episode I a much-needed shot in the arm. While the DC version of Racer is the best of the three current versions (the others were for PC and for N64), this version provides nothing new other than an online component for world rankings and game information, somewhat similar to Rayman 2; still, if you're a Star Wars fanatic or you're looking for a futuristic, fun, and flat out fast racing game, Star Wars Episode I: Racer for Dreamcast delivers in spades....

Star Wars Trilogy DVD Box Set
Review of Star Wars - The Original Trilogy (Box Set) by
herbie1302
Advantages: Excellent - A Great remastering and a great keepsake
Disadvantages: Changes have been made to final film
...is that they have changed the ending of Return of the Jedi (Film VI) to fit in with Star Wars III now instead of Old Vader as in the original, you now see Young Vader (Anakin). To me thats the only niggling factor it should have been left the same as Vader was old when he died !! (Obi-One and Yoda are still old in the ending, why not Vader !!!)
Apart from that one glaring Episode III change everything is crystal clear, excellent sound and a good buy!!...

Forget Droids and Ewoks - this is how it's done!
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol.1 DVD by
DarthSteve
Advantages: Excellent animation, official bridge between films, introduction of new characters
Disadvantages: There are nore episodes - should have included them all on the DVD
...series. Full marks to the people they got to do the voices because they are spot on, especially Anakin.
There are many great characters who we either don't see in the films, like Asajj Ventress, or don't get much time in the films, like Kit Fisto. It was also the on screen debut and introduction of Revenge of the Sith baddie, General Grievous.
My one gripe is that this covers episodes 1-20, but they made a further 5 episodes, each of 12 minutes in length, which aren't a part of this DVD. They could easily have added to this DVD or even made it into a double DVD set, and as the storylines lead in to Episode II it would have made sense to release the DVD before the film came out - too late now!
All in all I'd wholly recommend them, for fans of both Star Wars and animation - the highlight of the series is Mace Windu vs. The Droids - I won...

The Force is strong in this one.
Review of Hasbro Star Wars Episode 3: Anakin FX Lightsaber by
fynci.mynci
Advantages: I you're a Star Wars fan they're just cooooool.
Disadvantages: This not a toy for kids. It's a working replica.... for adults!
...Star Wars fans and big kids will love this authentic feel Lightsaber modelled upon Anakin Skywalker's saber from Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the SIth. This is not to be confused with the plastic Lightsabers sold in most toy and department stores, this is a true replica of the original although the hilt is slightly oversized to fit in all of the electronics.
The hilt is made of a combination of metal and plastic and feels quite heavy and sturdy in the hand. The light polycarbonate blade conceals a line of LED's which will light up in series to give the lightsaber power up effect and the power down effect when switched off. Coupled with the authentic sounds from the Star Wars movies.
There are five sound effects in total they are: Power Up, Power Down, General Swing and 2 different clash effects along with the general lightsaber...

An official Star Wars novel
Review of Star Wars: The Cestus Deception - Steven Barnes by
Mel27
Advantages: Cheap to buy. Drawing of Ewan McGregor on the front!
Disadvantages: Difficult to read in places, needs prior "Star Wars" knowledge
...This book by Steven Barnes is an official Star Wars novel. It originally came out on hardback in June 2004. I was given a copy of this last year but it came out in paperback in June 2005 and a brand new copy costs about £6 on Amazon. Second-hand copies are also available.
I found this rather long book very difficult to read but here is my interpretation of it.
The action in the story takes place between "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones" and "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith". It features Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi master Kit Fisto.
The basic plot is that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Kit Fisto lead a team of clone troopers to a difficult situation brewing on the manufacturing world of Ord Cestus. They have gone there because they have found that a new Jedi-killing droid is on the market and is produced on Cestus. The Confederacy...

The Clone Wars, Begun They Have!!!
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars (Animated) by
CaptainDisaster
Advantages: Good animation and action sequences, terrific music
Disadvantages: So-so extras, lack of plot coherency
...Star Wars: Clone Wars is an animated feature designed to bridge the gap between the films Episode II (Attack of the Clones) and Episode III (Revenge of the Sith). It comes in 2 volumes, this obviously being the first.
The first volume was originally designed to be a series of 3 minute commercials but ended up being combined to an approximately 1 hour long feature. The animation style is something approaching anime (I know nothing about anime but the director says in one the "Making Of" featurette that they aimed for a similar but not identical style.) Traditional 2D animation is used except for the ships themselves, which are computer animated.
The action comes in thick and fast, with the eye candy factor quite dazzling at times. This doesn't make up entirely for a lack of coherent plot, though this is not the developers fault...
