Sith score completes Williams' Star Wars cycle
Review of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (+DVD) - London Symphony Orchestra by  alexdg1

Advantages: John Williams' score, great performance by the LSO
Disadvantages: Tracks don't follow the film's action

...Over the past 28 years, composer/conductor John Williams has collaborated with Star Wars' creator, writer/director/executive producer George Lucas, providing the six Episode saga about the Skywalker family and its pivotal role in the history of "a galaxy far, far away" with a symphonic score that not only provides the films' characters, settings and situations with much needed emotional depth and weight, but also stands alone as beautiful orchestral music. Starting with the phenomenal best-selling two-record album of music from 1977's Star Wars (a.k.a. Episode IV: A New Hope), Williams' then-daring use of 19th Century Romantic era symphonic styles not only introduced a generation to instrumental music that wasn't rock or disco, but also reinvigorated the moribund art of film scoring and inspired many new composers -- Michael Kamen, Joel... The Force is with Star Wars Trilogy DVD
Review of Star Wars - The Original Trilogy (Box Set) by  alexdg1

Advantages: All three Special Edition films are here, nice sound, crisp picture
Disadvantages: None

...At last! Where have you been?-- C-3PO to R2-D2, A New Hope Part One: A Fan's Dream Comes True at Last. On Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, Lucasfilm Ltd. and 20th Century-Fox Home Entertainment released -- some might say unleashed -- the DVD edition of one of the most anticipated movie collections since the invention of this increasingly popular format: The Star Wars Trilogy And despite some opposition from fans who (a) wanted the DVD set to include both the 1977-83 versions and the 1997 Special Editions and (b) are unhappy with further alterations made to the "Classic" trilogy especially for the 2004 DVD editions, The Star Wars Trilogy four-disc set has been selling briskly. (It's No. 1 in DVD sales at Amazon.com.) I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977, so not only have I seen the existing five Episodes of George Lucas' space fantasy... Read review

People still love Star Wars.
Review of Star Wars - Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace DVD by  nadams

Advantages: Great film
Disadvantages: Not on DVD yet

...The STAR WARS phenomenon: Since its unforgettable premiere in 1979, STAR WARS has gone onto become the biggest and greatest feature film phenomena of modern times. Few films before and after have captured the imagination of the wider public while still continuing to inspire a faithful following. Produced and directed b George Lucas, STAR WARS had the goal of creating a new mythology of the space age. It finally got the green light with Twentieth Century Fox along with a budget of just US $9.5 million. The rest, they say, is history. To date, STAR WARS has seen more than one billion people world-wide and has taken a record breaking US $1.8 billion in box office receipts. The Success will continued with the new STAR WARS prequel, The Phantom Menace, released in 1999. With the re-release of the Star Wars Trilogy in 1998... Read review

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
Review of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (+DVD) - London Symphony Orchestra by  berlioz

Advantages: Some hugely effective underscore cues that bring a lot of dramatic gravitas the music needs
Disadvantages: As a final Star Wars score by Williams it misses it's mark in the end

...INTRODUCTION So the Star Wars saga is finally over. With the late arrival of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, George Lucas' cartoonish sci-fi fantasy has reached its dreaded and most dark and desperate climax as Anakin Skywalker finally succumbs to the Dark Side and becomes the Sith Lord Darth Vader. After The Phantom Menace failed to make the impression on the general public than was hoped, the prequels have been received with more of a feeling of "let's wait and see". Whereas the original trilogy of 1977-1983 was received with great excitement, the prequels have been sorely lacking in the ingredients that made the originals so gripping, namely more interesting characters, better structured stories, more authentic-looking space battles than those CGI-things we have today, and situations that kept you on the edge of your seat... Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Series Vol.1
Review of Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol.1 DVD by  Itstar77

Advantages: Great character design. Interesting Stories
Disadvantages: A bit short.

...This is the first series of the Clone Wars cartoon series which fills in some of the gap between the second and thirds episodes of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. There is a lot to enjoy here. I love the animation style used here which is very stylised and full of energy. The series is produced by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack, and the look and design of Clone Wars owes a lot to that series. All the main characters from the Prequels return in animated form along with a few new characters such as the evil Sith Apprentice Asij Vantress. With the exception of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) the voices are done by a cast of experienced voice actors and they do a great job, although there is noticably little dialogue in this first series. The series itself was originally broadcast... Read review

Should this be branded under Star Wars
Review of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones (Wide Screen) (Two Discs) (Sell Through) (DVD) by  garyretro

Advantages: A yoda Fightscene
Disadvantages: The Film

...Hi just got up and thought I would tell you about what I think of Attack of the clones. When I was 5 I watched my first ever Star Wars movie which was Return of the Jedi and as a kid I can remember being drawn in to a world of aliens, robots, lightsabers and the force. I remember my older brother buying me the action figres to play with and I used to pretend to be Luke Skywalker and would play for hours pretending to take on the darkside. As I grew up and had more money to spend I started to collect Star Wars membroilla as a hobby (NO NOT TO PLAY WITH) including loads of action figures I loved the films and couldnt get enough. Sorry to bore you but you will see my point in a minute. In 1996 when the Special edition Star Wars came out I rushed to the cinema and watched all three films Star Wars, The Empire Strikes back... Best Star Wars game of all time
Review of Star Wars: Rogue Leader - Rogue Squadron II (GameCube) by  clra2

Advantages: Star Wars flight sim that's accurate to the movies and fun, craft selection, recognizeable missions
Disadvantages: no multiplayer, few special features

...The Star Wars franchise has come out with a couple really good games since the creation of LucasArts; Empire at War, Republic Commando, Knights of the Old Republic come to my mind. However my all time favorite Star Wars game has got to be Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. There was something about the dogfighting scenes of the movies that I really loved. Maybe it was the model of the ships, maybe it was the epicness of the battles, I just loved the dogfighting scenes. So Factor 5 came out with the Rogue Squadron series and I was instantly drawn to this game. First let me give a little background. In the Star Wars universe, Rogue Squadron is the elite fighter squadron of the Rebellion/New Republic commanded by Luke Skywalker and later passed down to Wedge Antilles (Gavin Darklighter commands Rogue Squadron WAY latter in the Star... Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
Review of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones - Original Soundtrack by  berlioz

Advantages: A solid Star Wars score with an absolutely fantastic new theme
Disadvantages: Muddy recording quality and a little less exciting action for a Star Wars score

...Now that the Star Wars prequel saga has reached its Third and final episode I think its time I handled the remaining Episodes in my soundtrack evaluations, handling Episode II first. With The Phantom Menace proving to be a big disappointment for audiences due to its weak story, incredibly irritating and silly characters, and the over-reliance on CGI, there was much less expectation and trepidation for Attack of the Clones. With Anakin Skywalker now grown up he is assigned along with his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi to protect Princess Padmé Amidala who has recently become a senator and whose life is now being threatened. This then leads to a forbidden romance between Anakin and Padmé, the consequences proving to be far-reaching as we all know. And furthering the rise of the Galactic Empire is the Trade Federation's creation of an army... Read review

Revenge of the Star Wars soundtrack
Review of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (+DVD) - London Symphony Orchestra by  kyrane

Advantages: Great music from the movie, includes a bonus DVD
Disadvantages: Tracks in bizzare order.

...***Warning this review includes minor spoilers for Star Wars Revenge of the Sith motion picture.*** Star Wars has been a very successful movie. Good story, great characters but also a memorable soundtrack. All six of the symphonic scores are composed by John Williams and include many reoccurring themes that link them all together. Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the final episode of the saga and the end of the musical journey for the soundtrack. This edition of the Revenge of the Sith Soundtrack includes 2 disks. The first is a 15-track 70 minute CD of the music for Episode III, the second disk is a DVD with re-mastered 5.1 Surround Sound music videos from both trilogies. Disk One Star Wars Revenge of the Sith is the episode in the saga dealing with Anakin's fall to the dark side. The soundtrack reflects... Read review

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
Review of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (Ultimate Edition) - John Williams by  berlioz

Advantages: John Williams still knows his Star Wars
Disadvantages: Not as original as you'd hope and the last film cue

...Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace was probably the most expected film of 1999. After filming episodes IV-VI between 1977 and 1983 there had been a growing demand for the earlier episodes as well. The story of how Anakin Skywalker bacame Darth Vader was one that intrigued many Star Wars fans as well as the history of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, and after waiting for almost 20 years, George Lucas finally finished the filming of the very first episode entitled The Phantom Menace. Here we finally meet Obi-Wan's teacher Qui-Gon, we are introduced to Anakin Skywalker as a young child, and the Star Wars universe is expanded by several new planets as well. However, despite state of the art CGI effects, fast-paced action and a strong story, The Phantom Menace suffered from the same Lucas deficiencies as did Return of the Jedi, namely overtly...
