3Com OfficeConnect TP4 4 Port Ethernet Hub

...Bought this on Ebay for a bargain £1 to expand my network. I've since replaced it with another 3Com hub (check out my other reviews), but thought I'd still let you know a little about it. It's an entry-level, 4 port hub, but only 10BASE-T, rather than the faster 100BASE-TX - that's why I upgraded, so you can connect 4 users together. There's one (manually switched) MDI-MDIX port to provide simple "in" connection from a server, switch, or hub, and three other female RJ-45 ports to send the network signal out to 3 other items. The hub has an external power supply and a "CoolCurve" self-cooling design eliminating the need for a noisy fan. Its dimensions (height: 3.6cm, width: 23.1cm, depth: 13.6cm) allow it to fit nicely with other 3Com OfficeConnect units - special stacking clips are available. It's an "unmanaged" hub, so...

D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router 4 Port

Advantages: Pick up a bargain ?
Disadvantages: Only 4 ethernet ports ?

...Another review from me for a discontinued item, but may be useful if you're loking to pick up a bargain item on ebay... The D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router has a built-in ADSL modem - plugs directly into your ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)-enabled phone line, and with its 4 port 10/100Mbps ethernet switch, allows connections to lots of things (check out my other reviews for what it's connected to...). The DCHP server allows automatic allocation of IP addresses to all your network gubbins too - although I've set the IP's for my wireless accesspoint & print server to allow easier access to their brower based interfaces. The DSL-504 has a browser admin interface too for easy installation and setup, just type in the IP address (the default 192.168.0.1, as with most routers, but if it's changed you can always use the command line...

...I bought this Hub for my Dell Laptop around a month ago now. It is a good product, and was particuarly easy to install. It works straight out of the box and the computer installs the drivers for you, so there is no need to install any extra software. I dont receive any noticable performance drop of something that is connected through the HUB, although my Wireless mouse which uses a USB connection is for some reason not recognized when used through the Hub. This could be a problem with the mouse, although I have had no problems with it so far (It is a Logitech v500 Cordless mouse). I would recommend the product for someone who is running out of USB ports on a Laptop computer, although I think there are better products out there if portability is not a factor (ie a Desktop computer). Its compact dimensions (width 9.5 cm, depth 4 cm, height 1.5 cm, weight 40 g)and included USB connection cable allow it to fit anywhere on the desk, and its four USB 2.0 ports (480Mbps data transfer) allow rapid connection to all sorts of peripherals. It's also backward compatible with older USB 1.1 devices, and Apple devices I believe, too. Bon Vacances at Port Bourgenay

...beyond our budget if it wasn't for the Clubcard vouchers that are worth four times their face value, but after much debate and research we plumped for Port Bourgenay, run by Pierre et Vacances, as it looked like it was in a perfect location, is close to the beach, and there seemed to be a lot to do. ...Port Aventura is in Spain, it is a theme park that is split into five different themes which are China, Far West, Mediterrania, Mexico and Polynesia. These lands are all decorated alike the country they are named after, the attention paid to the decoration is brilliant and it really gives you that fun theme park feeling. There is also a water park called the Costa Caribe which has an in and outdoor pool and some really good rides within it, there are different slides and rafting slides and a nice place to relax and catch a tan in this park. The water park is clean and has pleasant caribean surroundings. This park is only open in the summer period of the year, it can be very busy but is a great place to visit when you are visiting Port Aventura. We set off on the Sunday morning, and had a varied trip to get there by the tram, vehicular and the old trolley bus. We travelled over the bridge designed by Eifel who designed the Eifel Tower, in fact he designed two bridges that span the Rio Douro, both well worth walking over if you have a head for heaths go on the top level if not use the lower level, your choice.
