...I have just tried out my brand new steam generator iron, and am so impressed that I really must reccommend this product! I did wonder about spending such a lot on an iron (I paid 200!), but I am just starting a little ironing business from home so thought I could justify the expense. Firstly the features. 150g per minute continuous steam, 170g turbo steam shot. This might not mean anything to you as it didn't to me, so let me explain. A normal iron makes a little bit of steam, but seems to stop and start. Can it do your ironing and cleaning in seconds? I wish....

Advantages: Good results on clothes and mirrors
Disadvantages: so difficult to get to grips with and just a naff version of a good product

...JML Steamstation Pro. This is a small machine which uses the power of steam to quickly and effectively clean, and to quickly and effectively steam clothes instead of ironing. I bought the steamstation from JML's own website http://www.jmldirect.com/Steam-Station-Pro-PS3415/ here you can see a small video and info about the product. It is £58.71 but i paid £80 for the upgraded version with all the attachments. I can't think this product would be of any use at all without the attachments so you may as well ignore the cheaper one. Tesco Value Steam Iron

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: not so good for heavy creases

...Tesco Value Steam Iron I tend to try and never do any ironing whatsoever and it is mainly my partner who uses the iron for his work shirts. Most of my clothes contain enough stretch that once I put the clothes on the creases will stretch out and I am very cautious when the washing machine has finished and I get the clothes out and onto the line as quickly as possible so that as little creases as possible are put into the clothes. Also I find giving the clothes all a good shake before putting them on the line reduces any creases therefore reducing ironing to nil!! But the iron that we previously had was a very old one and after my accidentally knocking it off of the shelf it lives and smashing the plug to within an inch of its life it was my responsibility to buy the new one. I was pretty slack in rushing out to get one...

...I discovered the power of the steam press while watching the infomercials on TV. I watched as impossibly beautiful slim American women folded jeans, curtains etc into multiple layers laid them on the system and then ironed them to perfection by using one finger to bring down the lid which would hit the item with 100lbs of steam, leaving it perfect. As usual I watched, I wanted, I wished but the prices on the infomercials were just so expensive usually around £300\£400 each. Even if the hype was true and this was to cut my ironing time in half it still seemed a little expensive to take a chance on when I had never seen a live demonstration. Polti Vaporetto Eco Pro 3300

Advantages: The sense of absolute cleanliness after using the Polti is unmatched with any other product.
Disadvantages: It is quite a bulky item, like a vacuum cleaner, so needs its own storage space.

...I bought this product a few years ago and can only say that if you don't much like housework but like a clean house then this is the product for you. The high temperature steam, delivered through brushes (protected by towel "baggies") means that dirt is immediately lifted off surfaces - floors, countertops etc) and the baggies themselves are washable as towels so completely re-usable. Small brush-heads mean you can lift hard deposits in ovens quite easily, and if defrosting is still a necessity then the speed with which this is achieved is just marvellous. The window cleaning squeegee attachments are brilliant - windows and mirrors have never seemed so clean! In hard water areas the addition of CalStop prevents limescale buildup and the Polti mail order service for phials of this product is very efficient.....

...We bought this after years of just having a little travel one it was when my partner changed jobs and had to wear a shirt and tie that we went and bought a better iron and picked up this one I think was on sale at the time which made us go for it.
