Steam Your Way to Crease Free!
Review of Philips GC7220 Pressurised Steam Generator Iron by
lel1969
Advantages: Quick and easy to use
Disadvantages: A bit bulky and a bit expensive
...commencing your ironing . This is easily done using the fill funnel at the side and the plastic jug provided, if you live in a hard water area you are advised to dilute tap water with bottled water or just to use bottled water. You now plug it into the mains power supply via the 2m long power supply cable and switch it on using the power on/off switch on the unit. After 2 minutes you are now ready to start ironing. The iron is attached to the unit by a 1.7m long fabric covered hose through which the steam travels. You should set the iron to the required temperature for the fabric you are about to press. Ironing can now be done either with or without steam. If ironing without steam this is just the same process as you would use for an ordinary iron. If you want to use the steam you can either hold down the steam activation button or alternatively...

Steam cleans well
Review of Electrolux Z370A Steam Cleaner by
scooby32
Advantages: Works well and you get lots of accessories
Disadvantages: Could do with a bigger fabric tool
...appliance, ideal for ceramic, metal, stone, marble, porcelain, lino and other sealed surfaces. It produces steam similar to steam from an iron but can reach temperatures in excess of 200F. So DO NOT use in one spot for an extended period of time.
ALWAYS depress the trigger to release all pressure before removing the safety cap
ALWAYS allow steamer to cool for a few minutes before adding more water.
ALWAYS test on a hidden area first.
Always let the steamer cool down for at least 5 hours before attempting to empty any unused water.
These are my own personal things to say about the product
When steam cools down, water may form in the hose. So when using product again always have a container ready and before ready to use press the steamer button and hold over container as water will come out until empty, then once just steam comes out...

Float on steam
Review of Morphy Richards Steam Generator 42265 Iron by
brat
Advantages: High steam output
Disadvantages: very bulky
...minutes), the generator will be ready when the steam ready light on the base unit illuminates and the iron ready light on iron goes off.
As with most irons and ironing the temperature contol thermostat can be set to desired temperature, to do delicates first. These could be done whilst waiting for boiler to heat up.
Once the boiler has reached temperature you are ready for your first experience of ironing with the steam generator. Press the steam control button on the top of the iron and the iron floats on a cushion of high powered steam. It is recommended that each time you use the iron for the first time, that you hold the iron upright and press the steam control, to discharge any cold water in the iron to boiler cord.
The iron can be used as a vertical steamer as well. Hold the iron in a vertical position approximately
1 - 2 cm away...

Press on ........
Review of Domena Easy Press by
Minha
Advantages: Quicker, easier and no aching back!
Disadvantages: Takes up more room than an iron
..., they were mostly steam presses and rather large and expensive. Then I saw the Easy Press demonstrated and decided that it was time to treat myself!
The Easy Press by Domena is a dry press. This suited me perfectly as I preferred using my iron without steam anyway. It did help that the press was on a 'special offer' of £149.99 rather than the recommended price pf £299!
The Easy Press is quite compact with a size of: 68cm length, 58cm width and a height of 27cm. The overall weight is 10 kilos and it comes in a nice sparkling white.
As you would expect, it has an adjustable thermostat with the usual iron settings ranging through from synthetics and silk to wool, cotton and linen. There is also a 10 second cut-out in the event that it is closed while the electricity is left on. This, however, isn't easy to do as it has...

A mean steam clean
Review of Polti Vaporetto 2400 Steam Cleaner by
LindaL
Advantages: Effective and environmentally friendly
Disadvantages: Expensive
...and windows.
A narrow space tool allows you to get into little nooks and crannies.
When you've selected the area you wish to clean, apply the tool and press the trigger for steam. Lots of it. My house feels like a sauna if I'm on a roll and the added advantages to your skin and lungs are tremendous!
Be very careful never to put your body in the way of the steam, for obvious reasons.
Once the dirt is loosened, which is very easy to see, use a soft cloth to remove the residue from the surface. There are a couple of cloths supplied with the Polti, but I have carried on using old torn up towels, which work just as well.
Window cleaning is a breeze, but be careful in cold weather not to apply the steam too closely all at once, or you may have to call out a glazier.
Defrosting the fridge, one of my most hated jobs, is so easy...

Babyliss Straight and Shine with Shot of Steam
Review of Babyliss Straight and Shine Steam Straightener by
Cici_Ying
Advantages: Leaves hair soft, shiny and straight
Disadvantages: Can be too hot to handle
...the roots to the end. As the plates heated up so quickly, I found it too hot to touch my hair straight after so I did two sections at a time so I can let the first section cool down while I do the next one before going over the first section again. It took me roughly half an hour to do the whole of my head but I should imagine that it would take a lot longer if you had really curly, wavey or frizzy hair.
To use the steam, you will need to add water. To do this, you will have to slide the water tank off from the top of the straighter, there is a little rubber lid which you can lift up and add cold water, replace the lid and slot it back into place, you should hear a click to tell you it is secure. You should do this before plugging in the unit and then let it heat up as normal. Steam should emit everytime you press the shot of steam button...

Domena Steam Press
Review of Domena SP 4000 by
smcccc
Advantages: Saves time, good for large items i.e. sheets, curtains ect..
Disadvantages: Got to be careful with the hotplate.
...When I first saw this presser I had to buy it,
Ironing is not one of my favorite chores especially when there's lots of it!
The children were just learning how to use the steam iron and found it all pretty boring and got themselves into a bit of a bother, So when I saw the domena presser I thought this would be a lot easier for me and for them and it is!
This great little presser will press all types of materials including wool.
And when using this presser remember you are pressing both sides of your item as there is a top-plate and a sole-plate,
The sole-plate is equal to six normal sized irons so it gets the job done much much faster.
You can have the presser positioned where you want i.e. in sitting room,
Sit and press while watching TV!
Mine sits on top of my worktop in the closed position ready for use...

I' M ALL STEAMED UP!!
Review of Lervia Handheld Steam Cleaner by
weemam
Advantages: NO CHEMICALS USED TO CLEAN
Disadvantages: NONE AT ALL
...” Lervia “Hand Held Steam Cleaner.
For the technically minded it is 900 WATT and 3 BAR pressure
It is a blue and black body about 9 inches high it is all wee ridges to keep the outside cool. On the top there is a screw top which is made of brass and covered in black heat resisting plastic
You hold it as you would a teapot as it has a long curved handle. There is a steam push button on the top. You just give it a wee press every time you want some steam
There are three different nozzles .A long one which can go in all different directions as to make it easier to get into awkward places.
There is a wee bent one as well which you can use to direct a really strong jet with for closer cleaning
There is a third brush it’s small and round with bristles, which is great for stubborn marks and dirt like cooker...

Steam Through Your Cleaning Schedule!
Review of JML Handheld Steam Cleaner by
motodoughnut
Advantages: Cleans better than you couls imagine
Disadvantages: Bit heavy
.... It has a handle on the top; on the handle there is the on/off switch and a button to release the steam from the steam cleaner when you are using it.
HOW TO USE
Cold water is put into the back of the steamer; there is a line that shows you the maximum water level. Next choose which attachment you wish to use. (you must do this before using the steamer as you will most probably end up burning yourself if you try to change it whilst steaming) Now you can plug the steamer in and switch it on, and orange light on the top of the cleaner will indicate that it is on. The steamer then takes a minute or two to heat up, and you are ready to go.
Just press the button to release the steam.
This steamer comes with a full instruction manual, which is very clear and easy to use.
It worked wonders on my shower cubical, when I had finished...
