Diamond review  The Tobi Steamer

Advantages: Read review
Disadvantages: Read Review

...is on wheels so it is easy to move around. ~ How to use ~ Remove the water tank and fill up with normal tap water, replace the water tank and turn the switch to the on position, wait for at least 30 seconds and steam will start flowing through the pipe to the nozzle. Place the item of clothing onto a hanger and place on the stand. Hold the handle of the steamer with one hand and with the other pull the item of clothing taught and then glide the steamer over the item of clothing from top to bottom to remove the creases. The steamer is portable so can be removed from the base unit and it comes with a shoulder strap so is easy to move about this can be used for curtains that are hanging up. You can steam sheets that are all ready on the bed to remove the creases and this also kills the dust mites that are in the mattress...

Tobi Fabric Steamer

Advantages: Easy to assemble and use, very effective on cotton, reduces ironing time
Disadvantages: Rod could stand to be a bit more sturdy, have to hold garment firm and taunt

...I purchased a Tobi Fabric Steamer online for £49.99 from SuperTvProducts just before Xmas because they offered a money back guarantee and as a young sngle mum of a 3 year old son I cant imagine anyone detesting ironing as much as I do. I was well aware of the common complaints of this product so knew what to look out for. It arrived pretty quickly and I used it for the first time this morning. It was pretty easy to assemble and use and I must say for first time use I was pretty impressed with the results I got especially on cotton fabrics. I did not experience any leakages like other users did and used an one of my hands oven mit on one of my hands to avoid burning or scaulding myself (as I read that this was a common complaint). After steaming the first or second item I had adopted a tecnique that saw me fly through the rest...

Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer

Advantages: Great idea saves time
Disadvantages: None

...Well, it had to happen, I suppose. All good things must come to a end, as they say. Our faithful steamer gave up the ghost after nearly eight years of Stirling steaming service. Time, we realised, to buy a new one. We decided to make our purchase of a new steamer at the BBC Good Food Show. After circling round and round the stands and displays several times ("too small, too big, doesn't look quite good enough, no WAY" are we paying that much!") we discovered the Tefal stand. We both fell in love with the Tefal Steam Cuisine Steamer. My comment was: "My god, it looks like something out of Star Trek voyager!" For yes, indeed, the Tefal Steam Cuisine steam cooker does look incredibly funky and very, very modern. It also has, for the amount of food that it can cook, a relatively small footprint. And this is, in the tiny and pokey...

Not so Smart Steamer

Advantages: Steamed food is healthy
Disadvantages: poor design

...Beware. By buying this machine I have learnt that not all steamers are the same. If you?ve read my first opinion on the Tefal Easy Steamer I borrowed you?ll know that I was sad when I had to give it back. That sadness was intensified when I decided to buy my own steamer and it wasn?t as good as the Tefal. Why didn?t I just buy my own Tefal one? It was because I wanted to save a few pounds and the Rosemary Conley Steamer has a blue lid and rice bowl (blue being my favourite colour). It also said it had a Flavour Scenter which sounded fun. I?ll try to be impartial in this opinion and not harp on about the Tefal I should have bought. I bought the Smart Steamer for about £35 direct from the Rosemary Conley website because my local Argos didn't have them in stock. This website needs work - At least if I'd got it at Argos I would have had...

Cookworks Silver 3 Bowl Steamer

Advantages: steams veggies, healthy, very cheap. Easy to refill with water mid use.
Disadvantages: longer cook times than guidelines, beware of heat at end of cooking

...Readers to my Health Grill review will know im having my kitchen done at the moment, so Ive been trying to get ways of cooking our dinners healthily & easily & not having to use microwave meals all the time. Well I decided a steamer may be of use after cooking my veggies in the microwave one at a time, the first being cold when the last was done, nothing several microwaves would have sorted! I only wanted something cheap, as im not sure how much it will be used when the kitchen is finished. So I browsed through Argos & found the Cookworks 3 bowl steamer in silver at only £12.99. Nowhere on this is a model number, not even on the instructions, but thats the title of the product. The picture at the bottom represents my model. It has 3 big bowls & a unit at the bottom with the controls to generate the steam from water you put in...

Review of Cookworks 3 BOWL Steamer

Two Tier Cookworks Steamer

Advantages: As Good as the expensive ones
Disadvantages: blocking the holes causes uneven steaming

...i think this steamer is good all round and does the job as good as an expensive one. but i have to say if you put more vegatables then the manual recommends then it does take a little longer to cook. another thing i noticed was that if you block all the pores from of the bottom container then the steam is not disterbuted equally. in fact very little steam the top container if you have the other container on top! so my advice is not just this, i assume it with the all steamers make sure that at least 3-4 holes at the bottom of the container are not bloced by the food you put in it! the mannual says not to add flavouring to the (e.g) vegatables/meats or it could effect the performance of the cooking. i ignored this and still marinated the boneless bitesize chicken. the only thing i noticed was that in the drip tray the fat...

The Frying Steamer

Advantages: Looks nice, easy to clean, frying pan as well as steamer
Disadvantages: Quite heavy

...So Okay tell me I am easily pleased but I have been looking for a steamer for ages and when I stumbled across this little creation I was stunned that not only was it a steamer but also a frying pan to - now although I recognise that this may not have any benefit for those of you with the liberty of a cooker, I however do not posses such a thing! I bought this from Comet for the reasonable price of 39.99, I personally thought that this steamer with its modern chrome finish looks very nice in comparison to all the others that I have looked at and is still a reasonable price. The steamer itself consists of 1 non stick frying pan which sits at the bottom and 2 other pans that are used for the steaming there are also little metal compartments that you use to separate the things you are steaming, the idea is that you fill the bottom pan...

Review of Prestige 47433 Round COOK N Steam S/Steel

VAX Steamer - no chance!

Advantages: Well, it broke after using it once, so NONE.
Disadvantages: Breaks. No cord storage. No visible water level. Tool storage too small.

...Well, I got this originally to clean the car seats, (purchased from Halfords) although upon opening the packaging it states that it isn't suitable for outside use. I am assuming this doesn't count cars though, since it is being sold in a motor shop! However, I have never gotten to use it for the car, as after using it ONCE to clean a stain off the carpet, it has broken. After the first time, which was quite successful, I thought I would give the other bedroom a quick clean. However, after ten minutes, the steamer stopped working suddenly. I have followed all of the manufacturer's guidelines: I dry vacuumed the floor first, and I used warm water to fill the tank to reduce heating time. I thought the tank had emptied early, but after letting it cool down, I saw that there was still water inside. I retopped up the tank and let...

Review of Vax V-081 Steam Cleaner

Full steam ahead hic.

Advantages: Alcoholic yet affordable
Disadvantages: Too moorish

...Mississippi Steamer §§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ I came across this aperitif while shopping at my local ASDA . What actually caught my eye was the bottle which is very similar in appearance to a favourite tipple of mine - Southern Comfort . The only difference being the dumpiness of the bottle. So what is Mississippe Steamer ? §§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ Well it?s an aromatized wine , with hints of orange and lemon , with added aged American corn Spirit . Don?t be put off by the wording ?aromatised wine? which so often is means a poor wine that has been flavoured to make it palatable , because you actually get a drink that has a 21.5% vol.e alcohol content , that?s no push over . The Bottle ... §§§§§§§§§§ As previously stated it looks like a dumpy version of Southern Comfort . It even has the fluted neck . Contents are also...

Review of Mississippi Steamer

Ideal for Letting off Steam!

Advantages: Cheap and Cheerful
Disadvantages: Very 'moreish'

...that slightly larger bottles are not available as this spirit goes down a treat at parties! Best ways to take Mississippi? 1. Neat - to appreciate the flavour to the full 2. With a slice of Lemon and/or Orange -gives an extra kick 3. On the rocks - but not too many 4. Is there any other way without spoiling it? Stockists - I can only find Mississippi Steamer at Morrisons now where a 70cl bottle currently costs around £5.59, depending on regional variations. I used to buy at ASDA but found they stopped stocking in my area aound two years ago. Update on stockists (April 2008) I have now found these in a cash and carry, so that does mean buying a case of 6 at a time. Keeps Me Happyy! (HIC!) But seriously, if a local corner shop was supplied or uses this cash and carry, there is an off chance they may stock this brilliant drink...
