Steering Wheel
Review of PC World (Shop) by
christopher
Advantages: Big superstore selling lots of different computers and stuff but,
Disadvantages: only one type of steering wheel and unknowledgeable assistants
...I went to PC World looking a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback steering wheel. I thought they would sell it there, being a big superstore chain selling computers. First impressions on entering the store was good, it was big and lots of products were on display. Lots of software took half the store, hardware and accessories the other half, and computer systems at the back, so I thought it would be easy to find my steering wheel. Was I wrong.
I spent about 20 minutes looking high and low for the steering wheels, but they were nowhere to be found. I wasn't thinking about asking an assistant, as I'd expect the steering wheels to be easily found somewhere, as I'm in a large computer store. Eventually, I have found an assistant, as most of them were at the back of the store.
"Excuse me, where are the steering wheels?"
"Over there" came...

Review of Disklok by
dizzych
Advantages: Best way to protect your loved ones
Disadvantages: Heavy and large in size
...No one listens to car alarms going off anymore. Its an everyday occurence for a car alarm to go off. You could drive down the road with the car alarm going off and nobody will bat an eyelid. So what other options are there to deter theives. The answer is steering wheel locks. The best on the market is the disklok.
I have used this on all of my vehicles ive had in the past.
It cost me £70, which i think is a small price to pay for peace of mind and security.
At first i thought the disklok was really heavy and sluggish. I was ensured by the chap behind the counter that if it was really light and flimsy it would be alot easier to get off.
Secondly, when i put the disklok on, it didnt seem to fit like the others you can buy. I went back and told him it didnt fit. Again i was corrected. The fact that it doesnt fit properly and spins...

Review of Race Controller (DC) by

Advantages: Heavy, and well made. Look out for them in the sales, pay up to £25 and you'll get your money's worth. Nice box!
Disadvantages: No pedals, no force feedback, not as good as the Thrustmaster wheel!
...With the announcement of a 128bit console back in 1998, I thought 'YES!' the Dreamcast will surely have a decent steering wheel, and will be completely different to all the 32bit and N64 steering wheels that have 'rumble effects', and maybe the Dreamcast steering wheel will have similar technology to the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback wheel - now that is an excellent peripheral!
Sadly, this was not to be, and although different to the regular 'Madcatz et al' steering wheels, I was disappointed. The first major upset was when I read that the wheel will have a realistic 'heavy feel', so no force feedback then. Secondly, I read that the wheel will have two paddles for accelerating and braking! Oh great! Paddles? Who wants paddles? I'm sure the promoters said this to mislead me, but I can read fairly well, and so spotted that this did...

A Bum Steer !!!
Review of Member Advice on Safe Driving by
Story_Weaver
Advantages: 'Old Hat' technique, but still the safest
Disadvantages: You don't look 'cool' doing it
...So you’ve past your test and are now an expert. Time to dispense with that namby pamby ‘Pull Push’ steering technique and steer like a proper driver.
Does this ring any bells?
This review is about different steering techniques. These views are my own and do not represent the views of any particular motoring organisation.
The steering wheel is a device that you turn in order to direct the front wheels of the vehicle you are driving in the direction you want to go. Sounds simple enough, so what’s the big deal?
I am going to describe various steering techniques and the pro’s and cons of each.
PULL PUSH STEERING
This is the technique I use, and the technique I train other drivers (both car and LGV) to use. I use this method because I consider it safest, keeps you in control of the vehicle, and puts your hands in the correct place...
