The Steven Gerrard I adore!

Advantages: Very interesting.
Disadvantages: Nothing

...Why did I buy this book? I guess like most people you see an autobiography of a famous person you like and you have to have it. I have also been a fan of Liverpool football team and as you will probably guess Steven Gerrard is my favourite footballer! I This books starts from the beginning of his childhood from when Steven would run around the streets of his hometown which is Liverpool playing football. The book then goes on to tell you about his family and then school. Steven Gerrard's parents realised they had a special son who was very talented when it came to football. Since Steven was little all he ever wanted to do was play football. In the book it tells you how he's dreams of becoming a footballer nearly came to an end when he accidentally kicked the prong of a garden for which embedded itself in his toe. Luckily he...

Review of Gerrard: My Autobiography - Steven Gerrard

Steven's On the Hill but not too high.

Advantages: Good swiming pool for a lunch and swim option.
Disadvantages: No Green Beans

...STEVEN'S ON THE HILL. It is set on the road that leads up to the Agios Gordios Hotel, it sounds like it may be quite a hike, but it is not too far, about 100 yards from the Bus Stop. It is a Hotel but we only used the Taverna (Restaurant) so can not comment on the standard of accommodation. It has tables set in the Garden the majority are under cover. There is also a large wood fired oven in the garden but was not being used that night. There is a very good sized swimming pool, so would be a good option if staying elsewhere in Agios to use during the day. The night we called in there turned out to be only one other couple having a meal, so it would be difficult to comment on the atmosphere of the place. Looking thru the menu there was a section where they did themed nights, Greek Night with live music and dancing...

Review of Steven's on the Hill, Corfu

Get Up Close With Steven Gerrard.

Advantages: Packed Full Of Info
Disadvantages: None Really

...I bought Steven Gerrards autobiography simply because he is my favourite player! He's amazing! The book is very personal and tells you about his struggle to become a top footballer, his school ife, family life, his daughters and of course his career. There is a lot of detail about his school life and all he had to go through to get into the Liverpool youths with Michael Owen and information about how he missed out on being in the England youth team. There is also a lot on his relationship with the players and managers etc. Most of the book is really interesting, you learn a hell of a lot and I didn't want to put it down. The only thing I found that I didn't like was the fact he went into detail about some games in the last world cup that I found a bit boring because I was watching it so I know what happened BUT it does tell...

Remember Cat Steven's

Advantages: Great music for all ages
Disadvantages: None

...Remember Cat Steven?s, The ultimate collection. Most people of my generation do remember Cat Steven?s or at least one of his Songs. Think back to primary school assemblies back in the 70?s. One song we all sang or at least in the area I come from is Morning has Broken. It wasn?t until I was older that I realised the singer and songwriter was a guy called Cat Steven?s. That was his name back then. He was born back in July 1948 to a Greek Orthodox father and a Swedish mother and named Steven Demetre Georgiou and started off his life in the west end of London. He moved over to Sweden with his mother for a while and it wasn?t until he returned that he became interested in music. He began by learning to play the piano. Then at the age of fifteen his father bought him his first guitar and became interested in song writing. He...

Taken by Steven Spielberg

Advantages: Very interesting, thought provoking, well written
Disadvantages: Poor special effects, very long and drawn out

...I have just spent the past 2 weeks watching ten 1 1/2 hour episodes of Steven Spielbergs 'Taken' so i though that this was a good time to write my review. 'Taken' centres around the hotly contested conspiricy theories surrounding the Roswell UFO incedent in 1947. The topic in its self is very interesting, but more so because Steven Spielberg has put his own spin on what has really happened over the past 50 - 60 years since then. 'Taken' is well structured throughout and begins in 1947 at the UFO crash site and then follows on with each episode spanning over 5/6 decades, diverging into several subplots involving 3 different families which ultimately come together to share/not to share their knowledge and experiences. There has obviously being a lot of research and imaginative thought that has gone into this 10 part mini series...

Shakin Stevens on speed

Advantages: Some great fast paced tracks
Disadvantages: Couple of weaker tracks but still pretty good

...My mate Chris has a lot to thank Jack Penate for, to be honest Chris is unlikely to know about Mr Penate existence as his musical tastes do not stretch much beyond Tamla Motown and the Beatles, rather the gratitude should stem from the fact that Penate has made acceptable the way Chris dances. If you have seen Penate live on stage you will know that he dances in a weird manic fashion from the waist down, a sort of Shakin Stevens on speed, well my mate Chris has the same dance and now thanks to Jack it has a certain amount of kudos to it, I call it the crazy chicken legs dance, not sure it will ever rival the twist but it will have it's moment as will Mr Penate whose first album Matinee is a strong debut from a man who has a bit of talent. I have been burnt before when jumping on the Myspace hype about artists, I bought the Jamie T...

The Cat's out of the Bag

Advantages: Catchy Songs
Disadvantages: .

...my Dog and Sad Lisa to name a few. I can?t say there?s any particular songs on the album that I don?t like, the only one I don?t play is Morning has Broken, but that?s only because it was played at my mum?s funeral, and at the moment it still just brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. Whilst I don?t dislike any of the songs, the only problem I find with an artist like Cat Stevens is that his voice is so distinctive that it makes all his songs sound very similar, even though some of the songs are very folksie and others are quite popish. I?m led to believe that some of the tracks have been digitally remastered to improve the quality, but since I only listen to music through the crummy speakers on my laptop, so I can?t really speak about the quality of the tracks in this respect. For anyone who likes Cat Stevens and who doesn...

~~A Superb Masterpiece from Mackintosh~~

Advantages: Most spectacular production around the world
Disadvantages: The UK tour has already ended but there might be possible future shows

...a wonderful experience to watch it in Broadway and got the chance to witness the musical that made Lea Salonga an international star (she gave birth this year to a baby girl). Lea was not playing Kim when I watched it in the US, so when the Cameron Mackintosh production decided to bring it to Manila, I did not hesitate to buy two balcony tickets for me and for my Aunt in the second week of the run just to find why Lea got two international awards! Having the opportunity to travel, I decided to watch again the play in Northern Ireland late last year as part of UK Tour 2005/06. Watching the musical for the 3rd time is making an affirmation that I am really proud to be a Filipino. Watching our local talents (in lead roles) at the Grand Opera House of Belfast (Northern Ireland) was awesome. I was only the Filipino who watched it on that night! Truly...

Hunt Out Hidden Mickeys

Advantages: Good size to carry around and really helpful
Disadvantages: You have to keep going back to find them all!

...," Hidden Mickeys-a Field Guide to WDWs Best Kept Secret" and we can now been seen running around the parks to cries of "Hidden Mickey". The books cover is bright yellow so it is always easy to spot when it has worked its way down to the bottom of the back-pack. It is about 4 inches by 9 inches and seems quite sturdy. It has spent two years being dragged around the parks and being stuck in bum bags and waistbands and still seems to be in good condition. About the Author Steven Barrett is originally from Texas and is a former Medical Professor. He has lived near WDW since the late 1990s and started by writing guide books on touring the parks. He visited often and gained a lot of inside information. He became interested in Hidden Mickeys and decided to write a book to help people locate them. He also runs a website with new ones...

A great insight from an iconic footballer

Advantages: Great range of topics dealt with honestly and professionally
Disadvantages: Probably premature, to the point where a second autobiography is likely at some point

...Steven Gerrard is one of the most iconic footballers of the current generation. He is very much a player capable of playing a number of roles on the pitch, possessing great tackling and passing ability, a vicious shot, and great athleticism. A local Liverpool lad, he joined the Liverpool FC youth setup at an early age. He rose steadily through the ranks and broke into the Liverpool first team in 1999. He was made captain of the club in 2003 and is also a key player in the England team. Widely recognised as one of the best footballers in the world, he has made over 450 appearances for Liverpool and scored over 100 goals. In that time he has won every major club honour except the Premiership (at least at the time of writing). He was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2001, and was voted Player of the Year in 2006. He was voted...
