Reviews of sticky toffee
Thorntons Original Special Toffee
Review of thorntons special toffee original by
PenguinKid
Advantages: delicious and soft
Disadvantages: bad for your health and teeth
...Thorntons original special toffee comes in a brown foil bag as you can see on the picture provided. When you open the bag , inside are around 10 toffee cubes.
The sweet toffee smell drifts out of the bag making the toffee even more tempting. The is very smooth to the touch and if you apply a little pressure you will notice that it is very soft and easy to squash. When eating a piece of the toffe you'll notice that the toffee is very soft and sticky but still melts slowly in your mouth. It is very tasty and sweet but can get sickly if you eat too many but they make a delicious treat.
The toffee sticks to your mouth and get in your teeth and unfortunatly thats where the bad side comes in. If you eat this toffee too often it can cause your teeth to rot and increase your visits to the dentist. Although if it is just a occasianal treat and you...

Toffee Delight
Review of thorntons special toffee original by
TTerror
Advantages: Good Price, Delicious
Disadvantages: Higly calorific, Highly addictive, Aching Jaw
...Though not so special as i'd expected, there is still no doubt that 'Thornton's Special Toffee' is easily the second best i've tasted (the best being my mother's special home-made toffee of course).
For toffee lovers out there commercial toffee in my opinion does not get much better than this. Full flavoured, sweet and creamy and perfect texture. Not too sticky but just enough to bring back memories of walking home from school, jaws aching from gobfuls of delightful toffee.
At a cost of £1.39 i'd have to say it's quite a bargain and a treat for many being not only suitable for vegetarians, but gluten-free and alcohol free to boot!
Personally i do prefer Thornton's nuttier toffees but nonetheless these sweet little delights are addictive enough to drive one nuts! I couldn't stop eating them. There goes my carefully planned diet!...

Thanks Jackie it was great
Review of Muller Sticky Toffee Pudding Corner by
SusanLesley
Advantages: Tastes lovely
Disadvantages: Too many of the dreaded calories!
...I read an opinion some weeks ago by Jackie-b recommending these desserts. They sounded lovely but sadly I was on a diet as I had been diagnosed as having diabetes and had to loose some weight. So it was somewhat of a double whammy where the Sticky Toffee Pudding Corner dessert was concerned.
As you may know a couple of weeks ago we moved into our new house in Llandudno with all the stress and exercise that event brought with it. We went along to our local Asda to do the first big load of shopping and we spotted these desserts in the chiller cabinet. We figured that the extra exercise of carrying boxes and furniture about would negate the extra calories in the yoghurts so we decided to try them. Well that was what we told ourselves anyway!
The Sticky Toffee Pudding Corner Dessert is made by Muller, the makers of Muller Light, Muller...

A special treat
Review of thorntons special toffee original by
kaledrina
Advantages: Rich, good value
Disadvantages: A bit too sweet, rock hard pieces
...blurb on the back of how they're so loyal to their customers by not putting bad stuff in, and then the ingredients etc.
----------------------------
Taste/Texture/Aroma
---------------- -------------
Toffee is always buttery, but Thorntons toffee really takes it up to the next level - as soon as you put a piece in your mouth you'll be hit by the buttery, rich flavour - rather like a giant Werther's Original. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love it, but if you're like me and feel a bit nauseous after eating too many sweets then you'll only be able to manage one or two chunks, depending on the size you get. The pieces are slightly sticky but smooth enough to eat with your fingers and not have to feel you need to clean them off afterwards. The aroma is just very, very buttery and, like most toffees a bit sickly. Again, your opinion...

Ohhhhhh sticky heaven
Review of thorntons special toffee original by
tillsy7
Advantages: Tasty, sweet, good money value, very indulgent
Disadvantages: When hard becomes britel and removes flavour, high in pure sugar.
...I first tried this toffee when it was brought for my mother on her birthday - you know how it is, sneaky "tasting" of chocolates and other sugary goodness. Though i do recommend it is kept in a cool, dry area, as putting it in the fridge make it extremely hard to eat. If it is at a good consistency and softness, pop a chunk in your mouth and, i swear the tantalizing tastes, that only can be experienced from a full-bodied, good toffee, will amaze your taste buds as they did mine. Depending on the size of the chunk, will determine how long it will take to chew it, also may cause jaw ache. Other than that it has great sweetness and silkiness. I would recommend it to all....

An Acquired Taste
Review of thorntons special toffee original by
meluced
Advantages: Tasty, A cut above the rest, sweet
Disadvantages: None...if you love it you just love it...no ifs or buts about it
...Thorntons...with a reputation for QUALITY. This statement is nothing short of the truth when it comes to Thorntons Special Toffee. You want sweetness try these. They melt ever so easily in the mouth. A bit chewy and sticky, but what toffee isn't?
My partner bought these and I thought, as he is a lover of all types of sweets "here we go again"! He had bought them a couple of times and then one day really persuaded me to try those. I did and since then THORNTONS is the taste on my lips....
Any one looking for an acquired taste should really feel persuaded because it's worth it.
Now I; not my partner; am the one racing down the confectionary isle to get THORNTONS. I could tell you that I am glad that I was introduced...Thanks to thorntons!!...

STICKY TOFFEE PUD - Yummy, yummy, in my tummy!
Review of PUDZ Sticky Toffee Pudding by
FunkyFaulkner
Advantages: Light, airy but still a gorgeously rich pud.
Disadvantages: Inexpensive and too easy to prepare, thus encouraging you to eat too many!
...After a rather stressful day of mothering, I found myself on an emergency milk sourcing trip to our local Tesco Express store. While standing in the queue clasping a four pint carton to my bosom, I looked longingly over at the dessert freezer and spied something new! I was feeling in the need for some comfort and this looked like it could fill the void!! So I stepped out of the queue and considered whether to buy one or two but in an attempt to be a little virtuous, as we are both supposed to be watching what we eat (NB: I find this a very strange phrase…surely if you watched what you ate, rather than actually ate it, you would loose weight like there was no tomorrow?!), I decided to buy one and split it with 'him-in-doors'. Obviously, you can't have sticky toffee pudding without vanilla ice cream, so I bought a (small) tub to go...

NOT SO SPECIAL FOR ME!
Review of thorntons special toffee original by
Morning_Becomes_Electra
Advantages: Reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Long lasting bitter/sweet aftertaste.
.... So Management had been informed to tell their staff to do this, presumably from higher up. I was beginning to think there must be some fault with this Toffee already. And I was soon to discover what this was...
◄On opening the packet your nostrils are assaulted by an overpowering aroma of sweetness, a sugary fudge smell. To be honest it smells quite sickly. Now I love Toffee, but I was not liking the very sweet smell of this product. I put my hand in the packet to choose a piece to taste, and my hand met a Massive lump of sticky toffee. The Toffee was all stuck together in a clump of pieces. Now the Toffee itself is not actually that hard, and I could easily tear a piece away from the huge pile I had found.
Already I am not liking the softness of the product. I prefer Toffee to be hard, but Thorntons Special Toffee is actually...

If you want sweetness then eat these!
Review of thorntons special toffee original by
solamarie
Advantages: Not too sticky,
Disadvantages: Very sweet
..., but then who nowadays feeds sticky toffee to children? (Not me she says, no, I will eat these and the children can have a lovely juicy orange or an apple.)
I have an odd shaped lump of this toffee in my mouth and it is smooth, fairly hard, gets softer with sucking as the mouth warms it a little, very sweet, but best of all for me, not too sticky. This toffee doesn't immediately stick round my teeth, it can be moved all round my mouth without the need to poke my fingers in my mouth to prise it off my teeth which is a bonus for me. I can discreetly eat these in public without the need to poke around my mouth.
Ah, sweet, very very sweet, slightly of condensed milk, I can't get away from that fact, a slight hint of butterscotch in the background. I can taste that these are made with brown sugar and syrup, but they don't actually taste of anything much...
