ms 260 stihl chainsaw
Review of Stihl MS 260 by
chainsaw11
Advantages: powerful and middle range good for the £
Disadvantages: heavy
...The Stihl MS 260 is the second chainsaw that i have bought. The reasion that I bought it was a combination of power and money, It is a powerful 50cc machine that has dealt with everything that i have pointed it at. I found it hard to start the first time, so ask your supplier how to start it as i did not and made a fool out of myself. The maintenance side of the machine is very easybasically undo the two nut and the tension screw and you can easily access the machine to clean the sawdust and the oil from the working parts. The machine is quite heavy and you know you are using it after half an hour. keep it clean and the saw will last for ever. What a wonderful chainsaw...

A cut above the rest
Review of Stihl Chainsaw MS200T by
gryphongryphon
Advantages: Compact, powerful, maneuverable, top-handle
Disadvantages: need a certificate of competence to buy
...For some years, I have been the proud owner of a Stihl 039 'Farmboss' chainsaw, and am mightily impressed with its capacity for hard work. However: it's not the friendliest beast to wield when 40 feet up a tree, as it has a 20" bar fitted, it weighs in at over 6 kg, and it needs two hands to operate.
Enter the Stihl MS 200 T
All the letters and numbers mean something, but the most important one here is the 'T' for top-handled. This means that all the controls can be operated with just your right hand if needed, and when you couple that to the low weight of around 4 kg, including a 12" bar, you end up with a supremely versatile tool for all your elevated tree work.
Although compact, so it is less likely to get snagged, it packs a 35 cc engine which produces 2.3 HP - plenty to drive the chain at a very high speed, which results...

stihl out does the rest
Review of Stihl HL75 by
dunniedunn
Advantages: easy to use and maintain
Disadvantages: none that I know of
...I bought my stihl hedge trimmer 3 years ago second hand, and must say that it out does the rest. With being keen on gardening and running a maintenance business I chose the petrol version.
The cutters are very easy to strip down and sharpen when needed and then easy to put back together. They cut any type of hedge with ease as others I find do not cut conifers well.
I find the stihl hedge trimmers cut through thickness of up to an inch with no effort at all.
I would highly recommend the stihl range to any person setting up or running a maintenance business as it is more reliable then most I have used.
I have goto say that stihl out does the rest....

You cant beat Stihl
Review of Stihl 039 Farm Boss" chainsaw" by
andycharger
Advantages: Safety features and cutting strength
Disadvantages:
...This is an all time Chain saw manufacturer!!!! When I worked at Hillcrest Landscapes we only used Stihl due to its reliability and ability to keep on cutting when the other ones fell by the wayside. I only ever did ground work with a stihl but man did it give a nice cut. The chain break always did its job when the saw "kicked back" at me. Otherwise I would have lost at least one arm. I currently have 2 and can be thankful to the safety features on them. Im suprised their hedge cutters and Strimmers have not made it onto the domestic market as they are extremely good too. I expect this is because they are a tad expensive....

Panasonic NV-GS180
Review of Panasonic e.cam NV GS180 by
Selito206
Advantages: Best value for money QUALITY Video + Great Price = Value
Disadvantages: Software is not the best out there. But you can use windows movie maker easyly
...The Panasonic NV-GS180... Having a 3CCD camcorder is the best thing in the camcorder world. 3CCD is the technology used in news/TV cameras to give you that crystal clear cut video!!! And i must say, this camera is the best i have seen around, for the price as well as the quality.
It has plenty of functions to fiddle around with, but the end all is that the video quality is fantastic and i reccomend anyone starting off from making their own home videos, to videoing as a hobby (Youtube), this is the best camera you can use. Its the best value for money as its not expensive at all compared to other 3CCD cameras which range to £1000 and more easyly!
Panasonic have been able to cut the costs down due to the fact that it uses DV cassettes. Which are more reliable in terms of not getting damaged that easyly.
The software (pinnacle...

Dire customer service
Review of Stihl MS 260 by
skier-hughes
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: no customer service at all if things go wrong
...I'd never buy another Stihl anything again after the way I've been treated.
Very Briefly.
Bought a chainsaw in 2005.
Used it sparingly for domestic use cutting a few branches for my log fires.
It broke.
Wouldn't oil the chain.
Was told by service agents that a bearing had broken and this had hit the casing, cracking it, causing oil to flow out and not into lubricating the chain.
Cost as much to replace casing as buy new one.
I phoned Stihl, they said two year gurantee on home use, so they spoke to agents.
Agents told them I'd used engine oil in my oil tank - I hadn't.
Agents told them the saw had been used with the brake on and this had caused the case to melt - they told me above. Bear in mind they'd already charged me nearly £80 for replacing bearing and clutch parts.
Stihl eventually picked up saw for checking...

Review of Stihl MS 170 by
inholms
Advantages: nice when it works
Disadvantages: Bad product instructions
...I'm writing to you to give you feed back in the hope that I can prevent this happening to others.
In February I purchased a new Stihl 170 chain saw, for occasional garden use. I used it a few times in March and it worked well, but since then it has been in the shed. Yesterday I used it, I started it up and a little smoke came out the side, I then put it in gear and it stopped and would not start. I took it to my Stihl agent and he said it was damaged beyond repair as I had not disengaged the brake, it can not be fixed. OK fair enough, my fault. The problem I have is that, it's a bit like using a computer program, if you don't use it all the time you easily forget how to use it, it's human nature. Therefore, I would have thought that with an action so important, that could ruin an expensive machine, the very least they could do...

Great saw!
Review of Stihl MS 260 by
drtwang
Advantages: Light weight, easy to clean, good power
Disadvantages: Pricey (but most good things are!)
...- the bar oil never runs out before the fuel - which means that it's unlikely to run dry if you always fill both.
Specs are available on any Stihl website and my dealer (who uses a 260C as well) says it will handle a 20" bar with ease.
WOW! I found an HS 246 hedge trimmer attachment second hand for this saw and now I have a killer hedge trimmer as well! 150 meters of overgrown macrocarpa hedge from ground to as high as I could reach (about 10 feet!) in under an hour! If you have this saw or buy this saw and need to do serious hedge trimming, look into the HS 246....

Antec P180 Enclosure
Review of Antec Performance One P180-EU by
Samuel18
Advantages: Awsome for gaming PCs
Disadvantages: more difficult to build than with other cases
...Choosing a good enclosure is no slim task. If you like to push the performance envelope, ventilation, cooling and plenty of space are probably key considerations. There's a big push these days towards quiet PCs, with many builders opting to take a little less performance if it means running a few decibels quieter. Generally, those two attributes have been at odds: you can't have great cooling without some noise, and you can't have a quiet PC without sacrificing airflow.
The new Antec P180 case is aimed squarely at the high-end system builder. They have built a case that keeps the noise down even in the face of high-end components and serious airflow.
The P180 is a handsome case. It stands about an inch taller than most mid-towers so its pretty big but not dauntingly so, and weighs 14.1grams. All sides are covered with smooth siver...
