Design hotel in Stockholm
Advantages: Design hotel, good breakfast, nice area
Disadvantages: Not in the very center of the city
...I have been in the "Rex Hotel" for a long weekend in April 2008.
The area
The hotel is situated in a quiet street 10-15 minutes walking from the center. In this area there are a lot of supermarkets (including one Lidl), restaurants (Italians, Chineses) and a lot of take aways. There is also a 7eleven that closes around 11.00 pm.
The hotel
When you enter at the hotel you can see the reception, a sofa and a internet desk (free to use). Our room was in the first floor and it was nice. Not huge but with space enough to have a table, a chest of drawers and a sofa.
The bathroom is quite impressive with black stone in a very design style.
In the room there are available two bottles of sparkling water and a detailed dossier of the attractions of the area with a lot of useful information. You can access free of charge to...

A leisurely walk to the city (and topless Swedish blondes)
Advantages: Excellent location, good facilities, nice bar
Disadvantages: Could get a windowless room
...INTRODUCTION
Having lived there for a few years, Stockholm is always a favourite destination of mine and it still feels like a second home. Strange then, that up until this point I haven?t covered anything from there in my reviews. Here is where I put that shameful record straight. Almost every year I manage to go there for a course of some kind, and last year was no exception. In the middle of winter, I found myself back in the city that holds many memories for me, for the first time in this hotel in an area quite familiar to me as you shall see.
As for the title? Well you'll have to read on won't you!

Central Stockholm Hostel
Advantages: Cheap, Centrally located, Free internet,
Disadvantages: underground
...I stayed here in September for 3 nights and this is my opinions of this hostel.
Location
We arrived into Stockholm at around 2pm from a train from Oslo. The hostel is within easy walking distance of the main train station. Although it is only a five or tem minute walk from the train station the directions we recieved from hostelworld were not the most clear and we ended up going the long way round to get to the hostel.
The hostel is located just off a busy shopping street and from the train station you need to go down a couple of levels of roads to get to the main street.
However things are a bit more complex if arriving by ferry or air and it is avisable to simply get a taxi from either to the main train station or the hostel itself.
Our welcome
We arrived at the hostel and our welcome was one of the most pleasant...

Smart, stylish, perfectly delicious stay!
Advantages: great views, excellent breakfast, clean friendly top class hotel, great location
Disadvantages: Can be a little busy, if that's really that bad!
...The Clarion Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden is one of the largest in the city. Situated on Södermalm (the South Island) it's in a busy, trendy location just around the corner from all manner of bars and restaurants, and is literally across the road from Skanstull tube station which will take you to the central station and the city centre in around fifteen minutes.
It's very easy to find, signposted from the station, and illuminated from the outside by fetching red and blue lights of an evening. It's a four star hotel, and prices are according. Prices vary considerably depending on the season and the days (nights) you wish to stay, so it's worth checking different dates if you can be flexible - you can pick up quite a bargain! Of the price ranges through the week we stayed there we averaged 1000 - 1500 SEK a night (approx. £70 - £110...

'Stockholm in a pint glass'
Advantages: 'Pre-parties', 'Norrlands Guld' and superb transport links.
Disadvantages: High alcohol prices, weak beer and strict bouncers.
...Overview?
I was recently invited to visit a friend in Stockholm, who claimed to be 'researching' land-use in the city as part of his final year dissertation. As you can imagine, this turned out to be more of a cultural drinking experience, rather than visiting Stockholm as a tourist! For those of you who are that way inclined, here follows my experience of Stockholm through the eyes of a pint glass.
Stockholm - A Brief Introduction?
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, and also considered to be the capital of Scandinavia. The city was built in the 13th century around Lake Mälaren, allowing the taxation of merchant vessels going in and out of the lake. It is built across 14 islands and is sometimes known as the 'Venice of the North'. Stockholm is renowned for its clean drinking water along with freedom of its waterways...

Shopping in Stockholm
Advantages: lots on offer
Disadvantages: on the expensive side
...I have yet to meet a person who goes to Stockholm to go shopping, but that does not mean that it is a boring place to shop. Quite on the contrary. Even though Stockholm is Sweden’s capital, shopping is not a particularly rushed experience and it is easy to ignore all the Stockholmers rushing around the way people tend to do in bigger cities. If in the town centre, the main shopping streets are Hamngatan and Drottninggatan. This area is where you can find the department stores, NK and Ahlens for example, shopping centres, for example Gallerian, and second hand clothing shops, for example UFF(excellent value).
For antique shops, second hand shops and boutiques, my suggestion would be to go to Gamla Stan, the Old Town. It’s an island, easily accessible from Drottninggatan, and is full of small shops and also art galleries...

A night on a boat...
Advantages: Good value for money, great location, very friendly staff
Disadvantages: Tiny cabins, can be a bit noisy
...Hej ! (that's Swedish for "hello")
Last December, my boyfriend and I spent a wonderful week end in the Swedish capital. Hence, I have decided to tell you about the hotel where we spent two nights.
First of all, I should warn you: most of the hotels in Stockholm seem incredibly expensive. After researching the internet, I soon realized that I would never find anything good for less than £80 a night (we were looking for something around £50). Some of the hostels seemed really good, although they didn't offer any private rooms, as we wanted. This is when I found out about a boat that serves as a hotel: the Rygerfjord.
The idea seemed pretty nice, so I told my boyfriend, who basically told me that I wasn't able to search the net and decided to look for a hotel. 10 minutes later, he cried victory and presented me with...

The Red Boat in Stockholm
Advantages: Convenient location - between Sodermalm and Gamla Stan
Disadvantages: There are two boats - you might not stay on red boat
...I stayed here for 3 nights in early April. I booked this hotel because it is highly recommended by another review website and I got attracted to the pictures on the red boat's website. I booked directly with the hotel and the rate was 230SEK per night per person. This is about £18 per person. I was on a budget and Stockholm is an expensive city, so I booked a triple-bed cabin without shower and washbasin.
How to get there: We landed at Stockholm Arlanda airport. We took the airport express to the central station in stockholm. The airport express costs 200SEK (adult) and 100SEK for students with ISIC card. It took us 20 minutes to get to the central station .Then, we took the metro to go to Gamla Stan station which is only one stop away. Exit the station on the right and then turn left to cross the bridge. It's less than 5 minutes to...

Hotel International
Advantages: Location, breakfasts
Disadvantages: Poor rooms
...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Living in Stockholm
Advantages: People, Scenery, Cleanliness, Safety, Public Transport
Disadvantages: Nightlife, Cost
...I lived in Stockholm for about 18 months. I'd say possibly the best 18 months of my life.
I was a little worried about moving abroad as a 21 year oid. Not only having to take care of myself for the first time but having to survive all that in a foreign country. I was pleasently surprised at how friendly everyone was, and the support they gave me.
People love to practice their English with you, at first it's great everywhere you go people will speak in English for you, but as i was living there i wanted to learn the language, which got hard when everyone speaks english too you.
The place was extremely clean. It's so nice to walk around a city, exp3ecially a capital and not see rubbish everywhere. Being from England this is especially true.
Living in stockholm you get the best of both worlds. You have the vibrant city...
