However I had not been aware of this particular product's existence until a recent visit to my usual salon for a wash and blow dry. My hairdresser introduced me to this product when styling my hair. It has acts as both a heat guard when straightening, to protect from split ends, and also has conditioning qualities too. It is used both on damp hair before blow drying and can also be used as a finishing spray on dry, styled hair - I find using in this way gives me a long lasting shine. Smooth looking straight hair

Advantages: easy to use and cheap to buy
Disadvantages: slightly smaller than other ceramic straighteners.

...232 degrees. You might not think that these few tiny degrees would make a difference but having tried a friend's GHD's the FHI's definitely work better on my hair. The straighteners can be used to flip, twist, straighten and curl hair which is great for parties. They also heat up very quickly, usually to top temperature in around 20 seconds. They apparently seal in natural moisture too, which can't be a bad thing. The manual also states that they eliminate frizz, which I have to agree with! I find that they glide through hair nicely and although I usually go over each section of hair a few times, I don't think that someone with straight hair would have to. ...so much success with Herbal Essences previously, I took the plunge.... Since it was BOGOF, I decided to try a couple of different formulas, & randomly opted for the colours I liked best (lime green & hot pink!). I have now been using the pink bottle (Seductively Straight) for a few weeks & have to say I am not impressed... My hair is prone to the odd bout of frizziness & I do like to use straighteners, so I thought a shampoo labelled 'Seductively Straight' would be ideal, but alas no. My hair is no more seductive or straight following the use of this product. The shampoo itself is a gorgeous pink colour & looks quite glittery/shimmery. It feels much thicker & silkier than the previous H.E. formulas, so scores quite highly for looks & feel. When using, the shampoo is almost too thick to lather up properly, but still feels nice...

...I purchased these straighteners about 2 months ago on special offer at Boots of £13. I believe it generally costs around £25 though. I decided to buy some straighteners after borrowing them from a friend and discovering that they really do work to make my hair more slinky and manageable. This is a steam straightener and has a blue water chamber which you remove from the front (slide out), fill with water, and click back into place. Once the straightener has warmed up there is a steady flow of steam from holes in the upper plate and there is a button on the top of the straightener to press to give an extra shoot of steam for particularly awkward hair. The instructions warn that you should not keep this button pressed down as it can result in boiling water shooting out. I would add that if you do not wait for the machine to warm up...

...A few years ago as a present I was given pink GHD's, they were the ones that gave money to breast cancer. I had never had straighteners before but fell in love with them immediately. Unfortunately I was a bit silly with them and used to wrap the wire around the straighteners, this meant that they eventually after two years started to stop working every now and then and finally stopped working. I was pretty devastated at this as was so used to having straight hair by this point. I had heard that you could send them back to the company, so although I knew it may have been my fault I gave it a try. I received a letter back from GHD saying unfortunately my guarantee had run out but they did offer me the new mk4 GHDs for £90, which was a saving of around £30. Remington Wet 2 Straight Hair - Without the Need to Dry First

...When I was young, I longed for thick, wavy, long blonde hair. Sadly my hair has always been very fine and looks pretty awful once it gets past my shoulders, is poker straight and colourwise it's mousy brown, so my dream was never to be. My daughter, however, has the most beautiful hair - naturally wavy, thick and a lovely shade of blonde - everything I wished I had had when I was her age. Of course given the fact the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence my daughter likes her hair straight. She first got a taste for it at the hairdressers so I bought some Babyliss straighteners to use. These are great straighteners on dry hair but the problem with my daughter's hair is the sheer length of time it takes to dry. She is autistic and hates the noise and sensation of the hairdryer so I would have to wait 3 to 4 hours...
