However, I soon discovered once I owned a pair that they deserve the praise and fantastic reviews they receive. They are a stunning piece of technology, which have none of the faults or criticisms which some other brands have. They heat up in under twenty second- when the little red LED has stopped flashing they are ready to use and it also makes a funny noise to let you know when they are ready. The straighteners irons themselves are solid ceramic, not ceramic plated like most straighteners. This means an evenly hot distribution of heat through out the plates. They can get very hot and they heat uo to a maximum temperature of 210 degrees alowing them to produce a poker straight finish. To get the best result you shout section your hair into different parting and straighten it in sections it may take a little longer but will give you a better overall outcome. ...I love it! calling it a straightner doesn't not do it justice, it styles hair into pretty much any shape. I personally love the perfect curls i can create myself. It even comes with a dvd to show you how to straighten, wave, and curl your into different looks, so you can try something new everyday. They flash and beep when they are hot enough and they only take about 20 seconds to heat up, therefore there's a super quick cool down time too. And it comes with a heat map to store them in and you don't burn any surface you put them on. Big straighteners for big hair!

Advantages: wider plates, brilliant brand, saves time, great effect, minimal heat damage

...My hair is big. There seems to be too much of it and it has a natural curl to it that without gallons of mousse ends up as just a big fluffy fuzz!!! It is impossible to wear my hair down in its natural state as it just looks ridiculous. Filling it with mousse to curl it is hard work and costs me a fortune in styling products! I would love to have naturally straight, sleek hair but I do not. Therefore, hair straighteners are an essential if I want to wear my hair down and not look like a clown! I owned a set of the original ghd straighteners for a few years, which I was very impressed with, but with the amount of hair that I have it still took a long time to straighten it all. GHD MK4 The daddy of straighteners!!

Advantages: Heat up quickly, Turn themselves off, Keeps hair straight
Disadvantages: Dont last a lifetime

...I have used GHD irons ever since they came out years ago. They are the best thing for people with hair like mine (frizzy, curly, hard to straighten). They heat up within seconds and unlike the old model the new MK4 model actually turns its self off after half an hour, which is never a bad thing! As a hairdresser i use these day in day out on clients and myself and am never disappointed with the results. Be it curly, straight or wavy you can create all these looks with GHD's. Although they do not last forever, i have had too many pairs to count! But GHD do not fail us here, if you pop in to a salon that sell GHD's they will have a free post bag which you can send off and GHD will either send you a new pair or ix your current pair. So although expensive they really are worth the money....

...I 've owned these for over 3 years now and; besides having to wipe them over with a wet wipe every few weeks; they are my most valued possession and I couldn 't be without them! I still have the original box they arrived in and everything is still shiny and new. The GHDs work well on even the curliest of hair, and I 'd recommend they work best when you have washed your hair the day before; straightening as close to the root as possible as they are very good at spreading the hair's natural oils through the hair; creating a gorgeous liquid shine effect! I have not used the GHD accompanying products but I do know that Lee Stafford Poker Straight Mist is an optimal product to spray on your hair before using the GHDs. As for curling with them; I wouldn 't recommend as it is tricky; and fiddling about with such a hot (200degrees) element...
