PS2 put to poor use
Review of Street Fighter EX3 (PS2) by Iceblade

Advantages: Graphix i suppose (MAYBE)
Disadvantages: practically everything else, the characters looks, slow moves, etc.

...Ok i have to be one of the biggest fans of street fighter games around - its THE all time classic beat em up, but - my friends - i am afraid to say that the good name of street fighter has been scorned by this pitiful game. Capcom, as with previous editions of the game on other consoles such as street fighter EX and plus alpha on the psx, etc, decided to put the powers of the new ps2 to use in creating a 3D version of the game, sadly thats about all its good for. Although many games can be greatly improved by new accelerated graphix and more advanced digital techniques, street fighter is just one of those games that should be left in the classic 2D form. Due to it being in 3 form the characters dont really resemble their former selves, and also the game has become slower because of it. The execution of the moves is slower and ill... Read review

Good...But not brilliant.
Review of Street Fighter EX3 (PS2) by Gonda

Advantages: Lots of modes, graphics not too bad, nice gameplay.
Disadvantages: Nothing special, not as good as Tekken Tag Tournament.

...When played as one of the PS2's original Japanese launch titles, Street Fighter EX3 was one of the least impressive. Whereas Tekken Tag Tournament broached new ground and took the fighting genre to pastures new and sophisticated, Street Fighter has been happy to stand still. Seemingly content to watch technology evolve and mustate around it, the series can hide behind its cult retro stylings no longer. It's time for Street Fighter to grow up. Lining up alongside TTT and DOA2 on the most powerful games platform, currently SFEX3 is struggling to keep up in the graphics stakes. However, it was always the gameplay that made Street Fighter so compelling, and the embers of that passion are still glowing beneath the surface of this 13-year love affair. The PAL version is an enhanced version of the game released in Japan... Read review

STREET FIGHTER IN DISGUISE.
Review of Capcom VS. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 (GameCube) by apatra

Advantages: WIDE RANGE OF FIGHTERS TO SELECT.
Disadvantages: STILL THE SAME S NES GRAPHICS.

...This takes me back to the days of the street fighter turbo, street fighter 2 and super street fighter precisely. But I can't just figure out why capcom refuses to put the graphics of street fighter to the level of modern day 3d graphics. Well I think this might be the last time I will get my hands on any street fighters game no matter how advanced the console is. Since capcom is unable to give the game its desired 3d modern day graphics on a console like game cube, what will be the next fate? THE GAME. The game is all about the combination of street fighter characters along with characters in a game namely SNK which I have not played. Although the graphics is not that impressive, but the fighting pattern and the action in the game has made it an interesting one. The fighting pattern is quite fantastic although it not in the level... Read review

WHO IS THE STRONGEST
Review of Cacom vs SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 (DC) by Nadal

Advantages: Closure for ardent Capcom and SNK fans.
Disadvantages: Rushed production.

...characters in their true state would run circles around Ryu and co. Why weren't the Capcom characters improved instead of worsening the SNK characters? The graphics are a mixed bag. The SNK characters have been beautifully redrawn in glorious high resolution whereas capcom have decided to simply paste their low res alpha series characters into the game. The two sets of characters simply clash and look odd next to each other because of this. A lazy effort? Definitely, although Ryu and Ken have been redrawn, but still look no better for it. Another gripe I have with the game is the character roster. The Capcom lineup is largely the same as in StreetFighter 2. There is only one alpha character and one character from Super StreetFighter. One must question whether capcom has made any character development in the last ten years? Am I the only person... Read review

Haddoken
Review of Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PSX) by Thechain

Advantages: Great fast gameplay
Disadvantages: 2d

...Street fighter reterns to challenge tekken 3 in Street fighter Alpha 3. All your old favourites are back plus a host of new players including Guy and Cody from final fight. As with the original street fighter alpha 3 is immensly playable, but hasn't really changed much from the original, which isn't really a bad thing, why change it if it aint broke. The biggest new addition are the super moves, build up you power bar and then unleash hot fury onto you opponent. Street fighter Alpha 3 is a good contender for the tekken 3 crown but doesn't quite get there. The game suffers from having only a few good players, Ryu, Ken and Guile, the rest are not up to it.... Return of The Pyjama Party...
Review of Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PSX) by mrkwes

Advantages: It's Street Fighter, it should be worshipped as the king of beat 'em ups forever
Disadvantages: If you hate beat 'em ups then you've just wasted 3 or 4 minutes reading this...

...each other. Perhaps the graphics are what may deter you from a worthy purchase as this because it is of course classic 2D and we've all got the perfect polygons of Tekken Tag and Dead Or Alive 2 to salivate over (yes, you do, admit it...) but do not overlook it. Just because it's flat and less realistic shouldn't sway you because this is pure gameplay. It always has been and if any one of the Street Fighter series should persuade you to buy one Street Fighter game in all your life then it's likely to be this one. The presentation is immaculate and very cool, the commentator (shockingly) doesn't actually annoy you as much as it should, the old favourites are back, including revamped characters not in the arcade mode such as Fei Long, Dee Jay and the appalling T.Hawk (why...) and Cammy seems to be that popular at the Capcom office these days... Street Fighter Alpha, CrAsH BaNg WoLlOp PoW... K.O
Review of Street Fighter Alpha 1 (PSX) by Sitrixz

Advantages: A great and on going Beat 'em Up!
Disadvantages: There are some but can't think of any at the moment!

...on the Controller), and Rye pulls them off at a steady pace. But Rye can pull of a red fireball now and then, causing a little more damage than usual. I think they're more but can't remember them all. But if you have taken your time to read that part above, then think of the other characters you can choose from. These are only 3 moves of 2 of the main characters. But there are tons of other players, like Adon, Sagat, Sodom and about another 6 more. But there are also 3 secret characters which you can access with a simple code on the character select screen. If you want them just search for them on a search engine. Well there's tons more I can say about Street Fighter Alpha, but I won't go into much detail in them. Another nice feature it has are combo's. You can link moves from one place to the other, creating a series of blasting energy ripping moves... Read review

Mindless button bashing but still great fun
Review of Darkstalkers Chronicle The Chaos Tower (PSP) by paddeh

Advantages: Good graphics and gameplay
Disadvantages: Just isn't as good as the street fighter series

...I've been a fan of 2D fighters ever since street fighter 2 hit the gaming world on the mega drive so i knew i had to try it out on my PSP. Darkstalkers has a much faster pace than your average Street Fighter game, and the characters are much stranger and wackier. Graphics wise the backgrounds and characters are nicely detailed and the gameplay is at a decent speed. Controls wise I found basic fighting moves easy to pull off using the standard buttons, analogue stick was a little harder. The special moves are really hard to execute on demand so you will find yourself randomly button bashing praying to god for a special move to materalise... unless thats just my inability to read the manual and use the training mode :D If your a button basher like me make sure your sitting down otherwise your PSP could be on the floor in no time... A faithful adaptation of the computer game
Review of Street Fighter Alpha - The Movie (Animated) (Dubbed) by Franzkill

Advantages: Solid voice overs, Nice animation, Wonderful music score
Disadvantages: Not enough extras, Can't think of anything else!

...As a huge Street Fighter fan this is actually the second movie that I have watched (Street Fighter 2 Animated being the first) and I must say that it was engaging and a wonder to look at as well as having an intruging story to keep you watching. For anyone who is not familiar with the popular franchise this film follows a warrior named Ryu who has just reunited with his long time best friend Ken. Both warriors are brought together due to the unfortunate death of their master who both taught Ryu and Ken the fighting style of 'Shotokan'. Mysteriously later on a boy named Shun appears claiming that he is the long lost brother of Ryu who has never known or met him before. Although puzzled by this Ryu, Ken and Shun decide to stay and talk with each other about the situation and it seems that Shun was told by his mother that he had a brother... Read review
