Reviews of streetfighter
Finally Capcom go 3D!!!
Review of Powerstone (DC) by
thedarkegg69
Advantages: decent 3D fighter
Disadvantages: not very good characters, too easy
...After the many tiring and samey updates of their streetfighter series of games, capcom have at last made a 3D fighter which is enjoyable to play and nice on the eye too. However risking their precious streetfighter characters in a possible flop was never going to happen, so capcom devised the story of power stone. A truly fun game to play, many overlooked power stone on it's launch just because it wasn't streetfighter. I was one too. However after seeing and experiencing it for just £15 i am hooked on this gem. Buy it at all costs now!...

Fight!
Review of Super Street Fighter II Turbo (PC) by
sasr007
Advantages: Graphics, Choice of characters - there's so many
Disadvantages: not that I can think of
...This is a timeless fighting classic that has provoked a million clones. You don't have to go far in the gaming world to find Streetfighter games, it's reached cult status - at least three new Streetfighter titles are released each year but all of them do not have the originality and authenticity as this. This is the game where it all began - revolutionary graphics, stunning gameplay, more characters than you can shake a stick at and brilliant spacial moves. Everything is here! Plus some cheats that aren't available on the console versions. It's a great, fast paced game that will keep you hooked for ages - I bought it a year ago and I'm still loving it! Those of you who have more recent Streetfighter games will want to go back to your roots, so to say, and this is the way to do it. I recommend this to every gamer in the country!...

SNES SF2 ROUND 3: FIGHT!
Review of Street Fighter II (SNES) by
Flash-Hammer
Advantages: Its Streetfigter 2.In its most complete form on the Snes.
Disadvantages: The Snes controller, a bit slow
...With Streetfighter 2, Capcom created one of the greatest games ever. With Streetfighter 2: Turbo it somehow found a way to make it better, could they actually do the unthinkable with Super Streetfighter 2 and make the game even better?
The thing that was to be the main attraction to this title over the previous versions was that there were now 4 totally new fighters added to the roster, taking it up to 16 playable fighters.
The new additions are Fei Long, a Hong Kong action star hailed as the new Bruce Lee. Cammy White, an amnesiac member of military unit Delta Red out to track down M.Bison and discover what he knows about her past, Thunder Hawk, a Native American forced to move to Mexico when Bison's Shadowlaw took over his tribe's land and Dee Jay, a Jamaican kickboxer who seems to really only be there for a laugh.
The game, like...

Good Japanese Karate Film
Review of The Return Of The Streetfighter DVD by
fraz1511
Advantages: Plenty Of Brutal Action, Good Photography and Great Music
Disadvantages: Cut Version Has Nonsensical Plot & Is Too Short!
...'Return Of The Street Fighter' - Japan- 1974
Fun sequel to Sonny Chiba's groundbreaking 'Streetfighter' film. Takuma Tsurgi returns (as you would expect) to punch kick and stamp his way through his enemies in this 70s brutalist karate film.
Chiba for the uninitiated was an Olympic standard karate master who starred in loads of films in Japan over the seventies and eighties. Chiba is awesome as usual, in the 'Streetfighter' films he plays Takuma Tsurgi a mean merciless assassin who is out for himself and fights dirty when he can.
Although not a patch on the original, it's full on and gory (although toned down slightly from the first film), it features tonnes of action, funky music, stylish cinematography and some great 70s kitsch.
It has a lighter tone than the original with a plot about the mafia blackmailing karate schools...

WHO IS THE STRONGEST
Review of Cacom vs SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 (DC) by
Nadal
Advantages: Closure for ardent Capcom and SNK fans.
Disadvantages: Rushed production.
...Capcom have finally delivered what the fans have been dreaming about for years. However, is capcom vs SNK what the fans asked for?
I'll start with the good:
In essence the game should be called StreetFighter vs. King of Fighters because what we have here is a game with only one character outside the periphery of the two. This is a good thing, for it immediately negates super jumps, chaining, larger than life specials and even larger super specials. Air blocks which previously left characters like Guile and Charlie useless, have also been removed; thus what we are left with is a relatively old school technical fighter.
We find that everyone's favorite capcom characters have made a few advancements to bring them up to par with the King of fighters' characters. Its now possible to do ground rolls, different jump lengths and dashes, which...

This is good.
Review of Nintendo SuperNES by
Grix_Thraves
Advantages: Great
Disadvantages: "Intentionally left blank"
...This is good, this is very, very good. The Snes has to be one of the best consoles ever. And I really do mean that, it really, really is good. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System, released as the Super Famicom in the United States of America, is host to many very good games. Games like, Super Mario World, Metriod, Super Streetfighter 2 Turbo, and many many many others. The control pad is the template for all controllers today, with the controller looking remarkably like the Playstation one, and the Playstation two one as well. The Gamecube one is rather simular to it as well. The games come in cartridges, and are popped out with a button....

Street Fighting the cartoon world
Review of Street Fighter 2 - The Movie (Animated) by
Flash-Hammer
Advantages: Animation,fights,fun
Disadvantages: Story
...Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
Released roughly around the same time, in the UK anyway, to the video market that Jean Claude Van Damme's career-killing live action movie was released, Streetfighter 2:The Animated Movie was met with a reception far warmer than it's live action counterpart, and is regarded by many in a very positive light.
I personally first saw the movie a few times upon release, before buying it on VHS just before the big DVD boom, and about 2 years ago or so I recieved the R2 DVD of it as a Christmas present. I had only ever read good press concerning it, so always assumed that it was as good as I remembered it seeming in my youth. However, in my recent little slew of Streetfighter reviews, I decided I should look at the animated movie, and this latest viewing would be a bit...

The Bruce Lee of fighting games
Review of Tekken 3 (PSX) by
Thechain
Advantages: loads of characters
Disadvantages: not very good single player mode
...Tekken 3 is quite simply the best one on one fighting game ever made, I never thought any game wou;d take the Streetfighter crown, but Tekken 3 has managed where other fighting game have failed. For a start all of the characters are great fighters, with each of them having plenty of moves, for you to master, then there are all the diffent modes with arcade and group battle and a few others, plus tekken ball. The game really stands out, like with most games of this type, in two player mode, where it is so addictive. Tekken 3 however is a little weak in the one player arcade mode, so if you aint got any friends, dont bother....

I Xspected more
Review of X-men: Mutant Academy (PSX) by
poodu
Advantages: The X-Men in a fighter...yes please!
Disadvantages: A 2D fighter which should have been 3D
...Mutant Academy is a 2D fighter that tries to make itself look 3D.
There haven't been many X-Men games other than the Marvel Heroes and X-Men vs Streetfighter games and both of them were 2D fighters. I hoped they would use the Tekken engine with Mutant Academy, but alas...it wasn't to be.
There are a few options as always. The tournament style mode and vs mode and also an accomplished training section. There are added benefits to completing the games as it unlocks special bits in the Cerebro Mode. Comic book covers, different costumes, movie trailer, character related FMV sequences and more.
The game uses the same kind of controls as the previous games and Streetfighter 2, so the controls are at least familiar enough and you can play as any of your fave X-Men, even those not in the movie. My fave has always been Gambit, but you can also...

The best multi-player console of all time
Review of Sega Saturn by
Seriously
Advantages: Greatest multi-player machine of all time
Disadvantages: One of the weakest single player machines of all time
...The Sega Saturn may have been bulky, unattractive and, in the end, a loser in the war with Sony but it can still have a place in your gaming collection.
The Saturn is much more than a 'blast from the past' console. The multi-player games can scorch any party into life. The Streetfighter games are amazing, as the game speed puts even modern day fighters in the shade. Virtua Cop and Virtua Fighter have been improved on numerous machines, but the Saturn version has loads of options and is a party must-have.
However the daddy of all multi-player games has never looked as it did on Sega's doomed player. 'Saturn Bomberman' is a classic. Up to 10 players screaming, howling and laughing at each other for hours on end. This game is magical and everyone should have played it at least once.
Although the Saturn did lose out to the Playstation...
