The Ten Best Streets in Oxford
Review of Oxford in general by
jebaldwin
Advantages: N/A
Disadvantages: N/A
...These are what I consider the ten best streets in Oxford, in no particular order. They have been included for different reasons, most commonly their appearance and architecture, but also sometimes what's on them, or their 'ambience' (i.e. the High Street, which is noisy and dirty with buildings that may be old but are mostly surpassed in quality elsewhere, but I think it makes quite a grand entrance to the city when you arrive by bus from London across Magdalen Bridge). Walk down them and see what you think.
High Street (formerly known simply as 'The High', which I prefer)
Holywell Street (especially the crossroads at the Kings Arms end in the summer)
St. John Street
Ship Street
Little Clarendon Street
Museum Road
Queens Lane/New College Lane (especially when misty or snowing)
Merton Street
Wellington Square (which would be so much...

fast, cheap, brilliant
Review of audiostreet.com by
A1H1
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nothing
...Audiostreet is part of Streets online which comprimises of Games Street, DVD Street and Xchangestreet, and of course alphabet street. Well what is so good about online shopping? well this is the best of the best and offers products at 30% cheaper than high street stores - sometimes - better value than that. In fact I think audiostreet is the cheapest out there, and has the best customer service and customer loyalty around. I recommend this site to you all as you can make great savings and get the CD sent to you within a couple of days....

Regent Street
Review of Regent Street (London) by
charlotte_edmundson
Advantages: Hamleys
Disadvantages: Too many people, too much traffic
...If you haven't been to London before, then go to Regent Street. Less chain-store oriented than Oxford Street, its best feature is easily Hamleys, with over 5 floors of toys and games. There is a great ice-cream shop close to the Piccadilly Circus end, as well as Cheers bar, themed on the American TV show, and lots of specialist shops like the Apple store, and Liberty's is just round the corner. However, if you've been to London before, then avoid this street, as it is always packed with people, and Saturdays are a complete nightmare. There are many better places to see, and I much prefer the streets leading off it, like Carnaby, which have more interesting shops, and are a lot less manic....

Belae Street in Memphis
Review of Memphis by
Mimi
Advantages: An all night affair that is free to stroll up and down as long as you like, it never closes.
Disadvantages: Sometimes on special holidays or set days in Memphis, the street becomes very crowded, so you may not want small kids with you past sunset.
...In Memphis, located on one of the borders of Downtown, is Beale Street. So, if you are planning a weekend of party and fun, this is the place. Hotels are located all around and there is also a trolley to get you to places that driving may create parking problems. I find that Beale Street is more than just a street, it is a mall, a festival, an outisde bar-b-que, and even an amusement center for kids.
On Beale Street, you can start at the east end and walk down towards the west end, which is maybe a 1/2 mile from the Mississippi River. Located on Beale Street, you will find different tattoo parlors, boutiques, many eat-in shops, artists waiting to draw your picture, with your chosen background, photographers taking pictures, magician doing card tricks for the kids, all types of vendors selling Elvis apparel, B.B. King apparel, and even...

Review of George Street by
Manx
Advantages: It is the middle of town. Good quality shops.
Disadvantages: Busy. Cost.
...Ah, perhaps there is a George Street near you… it sounds like a fairly common name. Unless, though, you live in Edinburgh this review will not be about your George Street and no matter where you live, this review certainly isn’t about any common or garden George Street.
The George Street in Edinburgh is something special. It could very well be the oldest new street in the world. That is to say, I’m told by the Edinburgh tours that our “New Town” is the oldest new town in the world. It was built some two hundred and fifty years ago and George Street was designed to be the very heart of it all.
For a long time and for many people the shopping magnet that is Princess Street has eclipsed George Street. In fact, for many people reading this review, Princess Street might be a name you are familiar with. Something happened to George Street...

The Street
Review of Coronation Street by
val18229
Advantages: Compulsive viewing
Disadvantages: Fred Elliot
...The Street is certainly a dangerous place to be at the minute with Jez the mean man Quigley around. Steve is getting a hard time with the mean monster peeking his head round every corner threatening revenge. Fred can`t believe Ashley doesnt want to join his beloved golf club he says there has been an Elliot in this club for over 70 years in his loud manner. His face goes a strange colour when maxine says she will join the club. All in all the street is set to be very entertaining with the release of Jez, Steve had better beware, but it makes interesting viewing....

an excellent shopping street
Review of Church Street by
franglais
Advantages: all the top stores, pedestrianised road, lots of choice, wonderful architecture
Disadvantages: street traders dotted around, and as with a lot of things in Liverpool, what we've got is great, we just need more of it!
...Lord Street and Church Street essentially run on from one another. They are fully pedestrianised, wide and flanked by magnificent Georgian buildings, holding all the high street stores you would expect to find in a city of this calibre. It is Liverpool's answer to London's Oxford Street and to Birmingham's New Street. Just to mention a few of the shops on this street: Gap, Bhs, Littlewoods (Littlewoods is based in the city, and I work for the company - this store is undergoing a £90m redevelopment to make it the best Littlewoods store in the country), Next, WH Smith, M&S, George Henry Lee (Liverpool's own department store, a member of the John Lewis Partnership), Dorothy Perkins, Burton, Top Shop... I could go on forever! This is the area I go most often when I go shopping in Liverpool. KIt has all the best shops. The only slight problem...

Review of Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PSX) by
Thechain
Advantages: Great fast gameplay
Disadvantages: 2d
...Street fighter reterns to challenge tekken 3 in Street fighter Alpha 3. All your old favourites are back plus a host of new players including Guy and Cody from final fight. As with the original street fighter alpha 3 is immensly playable, but hasn't really changed much from the original, which isn't really a bad thing, why change it if it aint broke. The biggest new addition are the super moves, build up you power bar and then unleash hot fury onto you opponent. Street fighter Alpha 3 is a good contender for the tekken 3 crown but doesn't quite get there. The game suffers from having only a few good players, Ryu, Ken and Guile, the rest are not up to it....

The Street!!
Review of Coronation Street by
hushpad
Advantages: Family soap-easy veiwing
Disadvantages: none
...Coronation Street is not only a soap programme but on TV for most of us its an institution. The soap set in the fictional Wetherfield is something that most of us if not all who watch it can remember being on TV when we were very small. It lends a kind of fascination with characters that could live on every street corner and storylines that are usually fairly true to life. It seems to have hold of most who view it, reading the other opinions on it whether you love it or hate it people still seem to watch it. The old repeated episodes also are very interesting with glimpses of life as it was twenty years ago.
It offers us all a familiar routine that is a time to put your feet up, relax and watch Coronation Street....

Something very different from the norm
Review of Rose Street by
dobieg
Advantages: Specialist shops for specific markets
Disadvantages: not always stuff you want or need
...In a nutshell, Rose Street is Edinburgh is very similar to Dublin's 'Temple Bar'.
Rose Street runs east-west, between and parallel to Princes Street and George Street
The physical relationship to the two larger streets is entirely reflected in the businesses which have established themselves there; hotels, bars and restaurants at the edge of the business district, centred on George Street, and smaller independent specialist shopping establishments which don't pack sufficient retail 'punch' to have an outlet in Princes Street.
Many of the 'simplified' city centre maps don't even show it at all. This, I would suggest is a regrettable oversight.
From memory, the sections between Castle, Frederick and Hanover Street are pedestrianised.
The street forms an integral part of the 'downtown' shopping experience, but from my initial...
