Walter Hill's updated (1984), highly stylised take on biker movies still looks like a determinedly eccentric project that happens to work at times, but not at others. Michael Paré plays a biker who agrees to rescue his ex-girlfriend (a rocker played by Diane Lane) from kidnappers (led by Willem Dafoe). The ensuing battle against a nocturnal background of industrial blight, chrome, and loud music is like some fever dream of a Springsteen fan who listened to the song "Born to Run" far too often. The audacity of the film carries it a long way even after it becomes clear that Hill's experiment is crumbling under its own weight. Dafoe, who looked even spookier back then than he does now, is memorable, as are Amy Madigan and Rick Moranis. Music is by Ry Cooder, with an appearance by the Blasters. The DVD release has a widescreen presentation, optional French soundtrack, optional Spanish subtitles. --Tom Keogh
Advantages: Great atmostphere in bars & on the street, relaxed place, loads of pubs, Disadvantages: Not a great deal to do
...This carries through to the night and there's a real buzz on the street. There are plenty of internet cafe's but I wouldn't say that Galway is good for shopping. The main entertainment form in this city I would say is the pubs, which is fair enough!

Advantages: information, well written Disadvantages: /
...Despite the fact that I've never been there, I absolutely love Galway. A lot of my favourite books are set there, and I love reading about the county's history. When I came across Galway's Pirate Women by Margaretta D'Arcy, I decided it was something I had to read. I have a HNC in Radio but don't really ever do anything with it (I don't think occasionally listening to Radio 2 or RTÉ2fm counts as...
Advantages: Good food and atmosphere Disadvantages: Can be pricey
...This is the second year in a row my company Christmas Party has been held here, at the Dover Street Restaurant and Bar. The restaurant is on Dover Street (surprise, surprise!) in Mayfair, not far from Green Park tube station.
Lucky me, the meal and drinks were all paid for! However the a la Carte menu, Party menus and wine lists, with prices, are available in pdf format on their website...
