Subaru Legacy 2.5i SE Tourer (estate) 2004 model
Advantages: Original, refined, handling and ride, reliability, dealers
Disadvantages: Highish CO2 rating
...as tough as old boots, a proper car.
Now, finally, with apologies to those amongst you bored with the preamble, to the subject of this review: the latest SUBARU LEGACY 2.5 SE TOURER.
It shares very much the same ingredients with the original "moors" car and the one driven several years ago, but GM (owners of this slightly eccentric Japanese marque) have applied the top gloss in terms of fit and finish and perceived quality. Indeed the old grey "tweed" upholstery has been replaced by superb half leather / alcantara, the dashboard is now attractive to look at - if a little "Eurobland" with its aluminium strips and flaps over the stereo.
The car that we drove also had a huge panoramic sun roof which split in the middle. Personally I would have done without this particular option as all it served to do was create extra wind noise...

All The Small Things...
Advantages: Great Value, Good Looking, Great Performance
Disadvantages: Fuel Consumption, Part Price, Let Down by a Few Small Things
...Anyone who has read any of my past reviews will think I'm difficult to please. But that's not quite true. I'm just don't like being disappointed. I don't like it when a potentially great product is let down by the details.
If you go to local chippy, you could forgive the dated décor and the ugly fat-bird from behind the counter, who only communicates in grunts, if the food is good and well priced. But if you go to a really expensive restaurant, with really high hopes and they serve your chicken on the raw side of pink; you have the right to be disappointed.
It's the same with cars. I bought my new Subaru Legacy not only because I needed a decent car, but because I thought it would be a really good one. And it is. But I'm just not sure whether it's good enough.

Subaru backwards reads U R A BUS
Advantages: performance, anonymity, comfort
Disadvantages: Only available as parallel import
...Subaru: a company with a severe personality disorder. They are known in this country for three of the most diverse cars available: you can select either a pocket-rocket Impreza Turbo, usually painted bright Kingfisher blue with a huge wing, loud exhaust and banzai driver; a rather good ?soft-roader? mini 4x4 called the Forrester, or a sturdy estate called the Legacy, usually seen covered in farmyard muck and driven by the sort of ladies who wear sensible shoes and a scarf all year.
One day the engineers must have had a few too many glasses of Sake and got bored: ?Let?s combine the Impreza with the Legacy?. It must have sounded like a good idea at the time. So this is what they did:
Recipe for GT-B:
Step one: Take one boring farmers estate car. Add a little wing at the back and front, with side skirts, which fall off as soon...

A Dangerous Legacy. "Legacy" DVD
Advantages: Fast paced action movie. Bargain price.
Disadvantages: Felt the movie was geared towards making Mr Hasselhoff look good!
...Review of ?Legacy? DVD format.
Production Year: 2002. Genre- Action/Adventure . Classification: 15 years and over ASIN B00006LSFP.
Run time 102 minutes.
The DVD
Legacy is from Prism Leisure, it is an action/adventure movie
The DVD I am reviewing is a one disc standard edition, the only special feature included in the DVD is a chapter selection.
Cast
The main roles are taken by David Hasselhoff and Rod Steiger.
The Plot
Hasselhoff plays war photo journalist, Jack Scott. Jack is a photographer who leaves no stone unturned in his quest for the ultimate shot. The movie starts with Jack in an Asian war zone, he risks his own life and safety to capture a picture of war atrocities being committed by rebel factions in the area.
As a result, Jack photographs a sensitive situation and comes to the attention...

RICHADA GETS TO GRIPS WITH A SOFT ROADER
Advantages: Price. Engine. Economy. Transmission. 4x4. Handling. Build. Finish. Interior.
Disadvantages: Availability. Limited Colour Choice.
...the market for this particular Outback model. Due to the scarcity of diesel demonstrators, it was not possible to find a standard Legacy to drive, but being so very similar to the Sports Tourer I was more than happy to try this car.
Importantly I find myself reviewing this car, now at its launch, due to it being something genuinely different and new to the market.
I am also looking to see if Subaru have proven my long held theory about "Boxer" diesels to be correct??
COSTS
It is confession time here; realistically it is actually far too early in the life of this brand new car to be able to give you an accurate assessment of the running costs of a Legacy Outback Diesel. Basing assumptions on the petrol model is not a good idea; Subaru petrol engined cars have always had a reputation for being costly to run, mostly because of their...

Subaru Outback Station Wagon 2.5 (2004) review
Advantages: Ride quality, AWD, road clearance/height, visibility, station wagon 5 door
Disadvantages: Cockpit convenience design eg cup holder positions, lack of cubbyholes
...I have had this car for a year now, I live in the country on the Canadian Prairies and have therefore had the opportunity to put it through it's paces. I am also a past off-roader with experience with SUVs and old Land Rovers, as well as many other kinds of vehicle.
The very best part of this vehicle is the "ride"; the best single word I have for it's performance on many difference surfaces such as gravel, snow, ice, sand as well as "blacktop" is GRACEFUL. Eg. on gravel it takes a lot to pull it around on the road compared to ordinary vehicles or part time 4*4s.
The higher ground clearnce as compared to the Legacy and other standard cars gives the opportunity to explore a bit down tracks and trails you would otherwise not do even with AWD. It is also useful when the roads have not been cleared after a snowfall. Being...

WHY IS OURS THE ONLY ONE IN EUROPE?
Advantages: Looks. Character. Comfort. Performance. Handling. Ride. Space. Equipment. Strength. Rarity.
Disadvantages: Rarity. Costs. Alarm. Smoke
...PLEASE NOTE: that the car shown in the Ciao picture is NOT a 2.0 Diesel version of the Legacy, but a 3.0 litre R Spec B. The Diesel has a very distinctive bonnet mounted air intake, different wheels and a completely different front bumper. Please refer to my own photographs for identification purposes.
THE REVIEW
Having painted a rather odd and confusing picture with both my title and the pros and cons listed above, a brief preamble to the review is in order here.
I am sure that you all know how it is; you buy a car and suddenly every second car that you see on the road is like your new pride and joy. For me, during my last twenty eight years on the road it has always been thus, that was until making, what in hindsight now appears to be, the giant leap of motoring faith that is Subaru ownership.
Whilst the Impreza is a common enough...

The ultimate Legacy
Advantages: An excellent allround luxury car, for a reasonable price
Disadvantages: Bit heavy on the fuel
...This car is everything the 2.5 auto is (read my review on that), and a little bit more. I said that I always look forward to driving the 2.5 auto as it is such a superb ride in every respect. Well this car is all that, and more. It just has those little extra touches that make you feel like a king!
The seats inside this car are amazingly comfortable ? and they really do look the business. All the other little extras, such as climate control, are all those little touches which all go together to bring perfection.
Though the lux-pack legacy is a few thousand more than the standard, I really believe it is worth it. Consider what you are getting for your money, and compare it to the competition ? you wont be disappointed. If you have the money and are considering a car of this nature, just buy it!...

Tourer Tourer Tourer
Advantages: Easy to erect, quality tent.
Disadvantages: Pricey for some.
...If you are looking for a spacious tent that is easy to erect then you need look no further.
Description:
The tourer 400 is a 4 person tent that has a central living space and two bedrooms, one to the right and one to the left. The main section is high enough for us to stand up in and both bedrooms are well sized. The tourer 400 is offered in khaki/dark green/pistachio colour scheme so may be a little on the boring side if you like a stand out colour for your tent but its functionality more than makes up for that.
Erecting the tent:
I've been a fan of Khyam's external click pole system since I first used it 12 years ago. The ease and speed of putting up the tent is worth every penny. To erect the tent you pull up on a central point at the roof apex and then click opposing elbow joints into place. Next you extend the 4 poles to...

Scooby Dooby DOO!
Advantages: Stylish, Handling, Comfort
Disadvantages: Not the most Economical
...This review is based on the 2004 model Legacy 2.0 I Sport tourer.
Firstly some explanation, I do not profess to be an expert on cars, I just listen well when my better half starts to talk about things. What I do know is how it feels to drive this car, and the difference to my usual car, the mighty Fiat Punto.
The car was £16, 985, offered at the moment with 3 years free servicing (quite a substantial chunk of dosh).
Reliability
I think the number of old Subaru’s on the road speaks for itself, an ever growing customer base, and good customer loyalty would seem to suggest that these cars are as reliable as they come. As far as I am concerned we have not had any reliability issues with any previous Subaru’s and I would not expect any with this one. I’m sure there are techy reviews of why this is...
