...I'm not a big pudding person, especially when watching my waistline (a moment on the lips and all that!) but sometimes, a sweet treat is called for after dinner. I actually first purchased these as I had a diabetic relative coming over and these are one of the desserts that they can eat as they are sugar free. I was aware of the Hartley's brand as I have previously bought their jams and found these to be fruity and tasty. There are two main ranges of ready to eat no added sugar jellies - the ones picture here are those aimed at adults - but there are also slightly smaller pots that are great for children's lunchboxes. These come in strawberry, lemon & lime, orange, blackcurrant and raspberry flavours. Sugar free and sublime!

Advantages: Not too sweet and very fruity.

Guilt free treat

Advantages: Easy to make, tastes good, low calorie

...I recently returned to Weight Watchers, I need to lose about 2 stone and I have managed to follow the regime quite well so far. However there are times when I just feel the need for something sweet, I have got over the craving for chocolate but sometimes I just want something sweet, so Hartleys Sugar Free Jelly has been a godsend to me. This jelly comes in a two pack of granules to be made up. It is very easy to make the jelly up, measure out a half pint of boiling water and stir the granules in. I have experimented a bit with this, I have tried adding the water to the granules and the granules to the water and to my surprise found that adding the granules to the water had the best effect. ...Sugar Sugar Soap and Glory is one of my favourite beauty ranges. I recently found myself with quite a lot of Boots Advantage points so I decided to treat myself to one of their products as some of their items can be a bit pricey. I had read a lot about the Soap and Glory Spa Sugar Crush so I decided to give that a try. Sugar Crush is basically a big tub of body exfoliator/scrub intended to remove any scaliness on your skin as the product itself says. Soap and Glory was created by Marcia Kilgore (who also created the Bliss range) back in 2006 so it hasn't been around for long but it sure has been a big hit. What I love about it is the quirky, funky packaging which to me is quite retro. It includes pictures of housewives from the 50's and 60's which give the range a very retro feel and also has a lot of tongue in cheek product...

As long as it wobbles it's jelly

Advantages: Low calories and fat; not unhealthy (really); lovely guilt-free snack and pud;

...Okay, before I start I would like to point out that this jelly has been re-branded as 'Hartley's' jelly (Rowntree manufactures this). Just thought I'd let you know in case you like my review, decide to buy some but wander the supermarket aisles for ages looking for it. :-) I practically live of sugar free jelly because it's low calories and satisfy's my sweet craving in between and after meals. I know it sounds odd; a sugar free jelly that satisy's a sweet tooth but the fact is that it contains sweetners and natural balckcurrent juice; but I'll get to that in a bit. I usually buy Asda own brand of sugar free jelly because it's half the price of Hartley's at 28p for 2 sachets (strawberry or orange); where as Hartle'y's in 63p in Asda. If you work it out, you pay approx 30p for one of Hartle'y's sachets compared to 10p from Asda...

Advantages: Uh, let me think about this one...oh yeah, cheap (but not cheerful!)

...the front of the label; Asda's cherryade is sugar free...supposedly. What that means is that it's not as obvious as say full fat coke that this does contain sugary goodness for the young and old alike to enjoy. It's also comforting to know that the weird pink substance is free of artificial flavours and colours. It was oddly encouraging whilst pouring the second glass of this stuff that I wouldn't be hyperactive or indeed active at all (read 'Health Implications') and also, this drink is suitable for vegetarians. However, along with the average carbonated water and citric acids that you'd come to expect from any fizzy drink, there is an ingredient called Anthocyanins which, low and behold, is actually classified as an E number, 163 to be precise. Sure, it grows on plants but it might not be necessarily what everyone would describe within...

...I bought this Boots Baby drink as it was reduced in a store I was visiting in Sheffield. It comes in a pale pink tub which is very appealing. You mix a small amount of powdered drink with water, very simple. Boots Sugar Free Strawberry and Vanilla drinks ingredients are listed as containing maltodextrin. Now the last time I looked it up maltodextrin was sugar. I quote info from DSQ Biotech here: " MALTODEXTRIN Maltodextrin is a creamy white hygroscopic powder, moderately sweet in taste. Carrots + Blackcurrants = Great Tesco Cherryade !

Advantages: Great value for money, low calorie, carbonated drink.
Disadvantages: It can stain if you spill it on fabric.

.... CONCLUSION This is a low calorie drink, with little nutritional value, 2 calories in 250 ml, and as with all carbonated drinks (even the sugar free varieties), dentists say they damage teeth. It is very fizzy so don?t pour out if the bottle has been recently shaken. If not bought on special offer it is 46p for 2 litres. If you want to drink a low calorie Cherryade, I highly recommend Tesco Sugar Free Cherryade for taste and value for money....
