Paint yourself bronze.

Advantages: Good shade, for fair skin as well, not too yellow or orange, easy to mix with lotion and apply.
Disadvantages: Standard, not too good self tanner smell.

...I first bought this self tanner years ago when I was starting to feel that paleness wasn't that interesting anymore. I can get a bit obsessive with testing different brands when looking for 'the best one' of whichever new product I'm about to try out, and was meticulously finger-painting strands of tan on to my belly and arms for comparison from the different self tanner testers in Boots and department stores. Advantages: Don't have to keep re-applying, waterproof, factor 50
Disadvantages: Quite thick so hard to rub in and tube could be bigger!

...Seen as it's July and were having a `heat wave'!! it;s even more important to protect our kids from the sun. I have, like most parents, tried and tested numerous sun creams, from the really, really expensive to the well, not so expensive that you buy on holiday cos youv'e run out!!. The only, and I mean only, one that I have found to do the job of protecting my kids is the Avon `Bronze Kids', Sun Lotion. It's brilliant, not only is it factor 50, but it is fully waterproof, which I can deffinately vouch for as I had a `splodge' of it on my arm, and when getting in the shower about 2 hours later, couldn't remember what this was and could not get it off, I thought I had caught some skin disease!!. I am so confident that this works that I only have to apply it once to both my children when they are playing in the garden all day...

Disadvantages: A little tricky to apply the first few times.

...I've never found it hard to get a tan - I only have to so much as step out the door on a sunny day and I turn brown. However, one year when I had no holiday abroad planned I was in work during the sunny daytime and realised I wouldn't get a chance to catch any rays that year (and I'm rather hesitant to overdo it in the sun what with skin cancer and looking like a prune in my older age). It's available in Debenhams and some branches of Superdrug or you can pop to larger branches of Boots and bag a few Advantage card points. Bronze yourself up and look tanned and healthy! It's in a turquoise and white bottle. There are 2 sizes, the smaller one (120 ml) is £20 and the larger one, which is better value (270ml) is £30. The pump action makes it easy to apply but first you have to prepare your skin. Exfoliation is the first step, followed by a moisturiser to ensure that the tan takes evenly to your skin. St Tropez doesn't really smell - it is a very dark grey/brown colour though and does look horribly dirty when you first apply it. LET YOUR KIDS BRONZE NOT BURN

Advantages: A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY, YOU CAN SEE EXACTLY WHERE THE CREAM IS GOING

...I am a firm believer in bronzer and if I am rushing out the door and have not got time to apply my make up I make sure that I brush a little bronzer over my face to highlight my face and give it that extra glow and give you the healthy look that you get from a tan. Bronzing from Mac is a tinted powder that gives your skin a natural colour effect. It glides on evenly and with a great make up brush this product is applied quickly and easily with minimal fuss. It retails at around £14.00 but I think that this is a great product and a little goes a long way as I use a foundation and a powder and when I am almost complete a brush a little bronzer to get that natural glow to make me look healthier.
