Get Insured For Free
Review of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc by
BNibbles
Advantages: No action needed once signed up
Disadvantages: Extra family members need to be paid for
...Royal & Sun Alliance Travel Insurance for free? Yes, it's true (sort of). I'll explain. If you are a Natwest Bank account holder earning more than £20,000 p.a. (I think), then you qualify for a NatWest Advantage Gold account (including Gold Visa card). Initially, when the £6/month account charge is explained, you might think that you've got better things to do with £72 p.a. than pay a bank any extra.
However, there are several benefits which the regular traveller might like to consider:-
Free travel insurance for self and partner, underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance. This pays the account charge in itself. Extra family members can be tacked on as and when for a reasonable fee
Then you get commission-free foreign currency transactions.
Coupled with other benefits like credit card cover, this starts to cost in for the regular...

DATs the way to do it MORE INFO ADDED
Review of Delta Air Transport (DAT) by
MadeinScotland
Advantages: reasonable prices with a real airline, free food and drink, reliable and on-time
Disadvantages: no direct flight to Prague
...I first flew DAT (Delta Air Transport) when I went to Prague with my boyfriend in late December. I originally booked with Sabena but was then told that Sabena had gone out of business, so as you can imagine we were a wee bit dubious when we booked on a DAT flight.
DAT is based in Brussels and their slogan is DAT - reconnecting Brussels and that is exactly what they do. (Read below for a list of destinations.)
The reason I chose to fly on DAT was because they were a lot cheaper than other airlines at that time of year, costing only £130. The flight stopped in Brussels and we were to connect to another DAT flight that would take us to Prague.
All went very well indeed. The planes had lovely wide leather seats with lots of leg room. We were given drinks, sandwiches and chocolates to eat and the service was extremely professional...

Tape is dead
Review of Sony DAT 4 GB by
ben-lloyd
Advantages: Small, lightweight, efficient, reliable. does what it says
Disadvantages: Tape, small capacity, price, slow, storage/usage issues
...The Sony DGD120P is the second incarnation of the DDS tape format used for computer backup in the 1990s. Back in the days when company data took up a few gigabytes of disk space, the DDS2 cartridge provided a relatively cheap and efficient way to backup and restore data easily.
~~~ Appearance ~~~
Looking not unlike a modern Mini-DV casette, the DGD120P measures 72mm x 52mm x 10mm in black plastic with a small window showing the tape spooled inside. Unlike a video casette, the tape contained within cannot be easily accessed by prying fingers and the wheels used for spooling the tape are inaccessible until the cartridge is inserted into a drive. On the spine of the cartridge is a small white switch allowing the user to write-protect the tape and preserve a copy of the data contained thereupon.
Each cartridge is also supplied...
The Sun Will Never Rise Again
Review of Nightworld - F. Paul Wilson by
mikeydred
Advantages: A superb rivetting Armageddon Novel
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's taste
...A few excerpts from this stunning horror fantasy novel:
- On May 17th , the sun was late
- WWOR-TV
CAMERON: “But Dr Sapir, how exactly did you arrive at these figures?”
SAPIR : “I simply charted the times of the sunrise and sunset and the
resultant hours of daylight since Wednesday on a graph. Those
figures yielded the curve you see here. I have merely continued
that curve.”
CAMERON: “And that shows…..?”
SAPIR : “All you have to do is follow it. We’ll have approximately
eleven hours of sunlight today; slightly less than ten hours
tomorrow, Monday; about eight hours and forty minutes of
daylight on Tuesday, about seven hours on Wednesday, and – you
see how steep the curve is becoming – four...
Disadvantages: Tomorrow is Monday
...Maybe you've heard these, but they made me laugh so here they are again!
Two Kerry men walk into a pet shop in Dingle. They head to the bird section and Gerry says to Paddy,
"Dat's dem."
The owner comes over and asks if he can help them.
"Yeah, we'll take four of dem dere little budgies in dat cage up dere," says Gerry.
The owner puts the budgies in a paper bag. Paddy and Gerry pay for the birds, leave the shop and get into Gerry's truck to drive to the top of the Conor Pass
At the Conor Pass, Gerry looks down at the 1000-foot drop and says,
"Dis looks like a grand place." He takes two birds out of the bag, puts them on his shoulders and jumps off the cliff.
Paddy watches as Gerry falls all the way to the bottom, killing himself stone dead. Looking down at the remains of his best pal, Paddy shakes his head and says...
It's a Sin
Review of JJ72 - JJ72 - the album by
15091983
Advantages: see op
Disadvantages: see op
...Ø Introduction.
JJ72 consist of three members – Mark Greaney, Fergal Matthews and Hilary Woods. The band started off when the male members of the group decided to get together and play in a band Mark is the lead singer as well as being the guitarist and songwriter and Fergal is the drummer. The boys were without a bassist and after seeing Hilary perform in a school production of Sweeney Todd they asked her to join and it formed the beginnings of a great band!
*Mark Greaney – Lead vocals, guitar and songwriter.
Mark played the violin from an early age giving him the chance to get more familiar with music and consequently became the songwriter he is today. Influences is his writing are said to include Nirvana and the Manics.
*Fergal Matthews – Drums.
Fergal was the one who approached Mark about forming a band...
JJ72 - JJ72
Review of JJ72 - JJ72 by
radarmaker
Advantages: Great vocal syle
Disadvantages: Cann be too overwrought sometimes
...The 'New Radiohead,' again, obviously, except from Ireland. And young. Very, very young. Most of JJ72 freely admit to knowing virtually nothing about music, but, either way, they sure know how to pen a tune.
They've just enjoyed chart success with their single 'Oxygen,' essentially, a lush, orchestral love song, and much of the album continues in the same vein.
The focus, of course, has been vocalist Mark Greaney's soaring vocals, which is truly outstanding on this record. To be honest, it's probably this which prompts Radiohead comparisons, the music tends to veer between Placebo-esque angst and Coldplay's songcraft....
HP = Heavy Package
Review of HP V72 by
hackersupr
Advantages: Affordable, looks good too
Disadvantages: Heavy
...In the box you get:
a hp v72 17 inch (16 visible) colour monitor
a pair of harmon/kardon active speakers.
Installation: The monitor once out of the box and on your desk is easy to get running, plug the blue connector into your PC and away you go. I use this monitor with Windows XP so I had no problems using it as the drivers are loaded into XP. For Windows 98/95/ME you can use the CD (supplied) to configure the monitor properly. The speakers were the same plug and play no CD required for Windows 98/95/ME just power up.
The Quality: The picture quality of the monitor is very good, the image is crisp and clear and the screen is nice and big, the monitor supports high resolutions of upto 1290x1024 with upto an 85 hertz rate for less fickering. The best resolution I find is 1024x768 or the writing is so small you cant read it. Also when...
JJ72 album review
Review of JJ72 - JJ72 by
DJtimmytimtim
Advantages: an excellent album added to your collection
Disadvantages: head might explode because it's too emotional
...JJ72
JJ72 (2000 Lakota records)
JJ72 are one of the few bands today that manage to represent something clever, talented, emotional and (best of all) excellent within the rock genre. The Dublin trio’s music is scarily mature for their age, which is in stark contrast with a lot of punk that is (apparently) devoid of most emotions. Mark Greaney’s voice hits you straight away: it can reach inhumane pitches and the feminine sound of it aids in the highlighting of the fact that this music is detached from any ‘laddishness’.
The music is often very graceful and melodic which often builds up into a crescendo of perfect falsetto courtesy of Greaney complemented by the ability of the band to turn from a light- almost shoe gazing- melodic band to an intense sea of power. The hit single Oxygen is a good example of this.
Clever lyrics, very...
