St Tropez Self Tan

Advantages: Great colour and very even colour
Disadvantages: Takes time and alot of effort

It?s great because if you want a really deep tan you can build it up by applying it on consecutive days but I have always found it to look dark after just one day. It is relatively un messy to use because its so thick it doesn?t drip on the floor like sprays can but you have to wash you sheets every time you use it and you do feel really sticky all evening with it on. Trust me you won?t be popping out anywhere once you?ve put it on, you will not want to be seen. It is relatively good value for money, depending on how much you use it. Fake tan is really high maintenance so be prepared to spend hours exfoliating and moisturising. ...When using this product you had to start in stages by doing a small section at a time. I found it was easier starting with the legs and spraying the product onto my leg then using an old sponge to spread it around as this product stains your hands terribly. It gave you a very good overall tan, although you needed to be sure you had covered all areas. I thought I had covered my feet an ankles well until the product had completely dried and I realised I had patches. I feel this is a good tanning product and the tan is very natural, however it washes off very easily and rubs of when near clothing. The bottle lasts a long time but dont quite feel it is worth the money as there is better products out there which are less hassle....

A convincing tan without the sun

...don't end up with white hands. DEVELOPING A TAN Wait about 5-10 minutes before dressing and wear dark underwear. It will leave a mark on white underwear which does comes off in the wash but can take away the whiteness eventually. There is a slight smell which St Tropez claim to be aromatic, however I would say it is not overly pleasent but not too overpowering like other self tanners. You have to wait for at least 3 hours for the tan to develop and then rinse off the residue by showering. I would recommend you stay away from water until after 3 hours, ie washing your hands as you will be left with tide marks. AFTERWARDS You are left with a very natural looking healthy tan which lasts up to 4-7 days. The tan does not streak and the colour will not look orange as the formular has a tint of green to prevent this. If...

...than £2 so save your pennies on all the advertised application products as the cheaper versions serve exactly the same purpose. Alternatively Boots do a self tan mitt for about £3.50 and St Tropez latex gloves 5 pairs for £2.50 so you can still get the same products if you don't have a hardware store near you. So now onto the tanning itself. Ensure you have plenty of time and that you're not in a hurry when applying your tan. If you're planning to wear it for an event or night out then it's worth doing you're tanning at least the evening before, if not longer where possible, for reasons I will explain a bit later. Ensure you shake the mousse bottle well before application. If you do it correctly then it should start off as a liquid then froth up until you can barely hear anything being shaken in the bottle. The best self tan around? I beg to disagree!

Advantages: Easy to see where you're applying it, quick drying.
Disadvantages: Obvious FAKE tan, messy application, too expensive.

...Self Tan Lotion, and I applied moisturiser (this time I used Palmers Cocoa Butter moisturiser) again before applying the fake tan to my knees and dry areas, but unfortunately I got the same result. The dark patches on my knees are finally becoming less noticeable, but I have sworn off St Tropez (at least this lotion) for the time being. However, I do recommend a new self tanner which I have tried, and that is Ella Bache Great Tan Without Sun. I'd heard it advertised and the lotion looked a lot like St Tropez which worried me. However, it was a lot easier to apply, even faster to dry and when I woke up the next morning and showered - I did indeed have a pretty natural looking self tan! I couldn't find anywhere on Ciao to review it, but if you live in Australia (I'm not sure if its available anywhere else) - I recommend it!]...
