Your life needs a little SPARC
Review of Sun Ultra 5 360 - UltraSPARC IIi 360 MHz by
sjhill
Advantages: Cheap entry level Sun SPARC from 1997
Disadvantages: Build quality is PC like, and low cache processors
...The Sun UltraSPARC 5 workstation was brought out in 1997, and was priced so you could have one on your desk for approx 1000 US Dollars. They stopped shipping to customers in May 2002. These days, it is not a fast machine, but still they are perfectly useable for many workstation and server tasks.
Processor and Memory -
This model has an UltraSPARC IIi processor which is, of course, 64 bit and is clocked at 360 MHz. You can have 1GB of memory in the workstation, installed as up to 4 DIMMS, which must be installed in pairs. "Normal" PC memory will not work in these workstations. The 260MHz model only has 256kB cache (same with the 270MHz processor) For better performance, you need the 2MB cache version on the 333 or 400MHz versions.
Storage -
There is one HDD bay in the machine, although if you remove the floppy drive, you...

Intel D945 Processor
Review of Intel Pentium D 945 / 3.4 GHz processor by
smart_sheep
Advantages: Speed, Price.
Disadvantages: Old Technology, Power consumption.
...Introduction:
As Intel continues to offer new technology processors at very affordable price, the older technology processor's price has fallen dramatically to a very low level. The prices for processors are at record low level. This has helped the end user to build some inexpensive systems using the high end processors of the last generations. Although one generation behind in core architecture, the Intel D945 processor is able to perform excellently.
Architecture:
The processor is based on 65 nm fabrication process, which is common to Core 2 Duo's as well but has a different core architecture compared to that of Intel Core 2 Duo processors. It is based on, not so popular Net Burst architecture. It is dual core, for sure and fits in any motherboard having LGA775 socket.
General Information:
This processor runs at a whopping...

The best processor you can get
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
Mazaron
Advantages: Fast speeds, four cores, great overclocking potential, easy to install
Disadvantages: Absolutely none!
...General Overview:
The Q6600 Is a fantastic new chip by Intel. It provides the end user with an extremely powerful, cheap and multi-purpose chip. At one point this chip would cost you £500 alone. Now they have cut the price down to roughly £170 making it the perfect choice for enthusiasts and gamers alike. The Q6600 has four cores each running at 2.4Ghz with 8mb L2 cache which means it can do four times the work in the same amount of time compared to a single 2.4Ghz core. The Q6600 runs on a 1066Mhz FSB (FSB is the "Front Side Bus" this tells the processor how fast to run when combined with the processor's multiplier which is different depending on which CPU you buy. Increasing the FSB will increase the speed of the processor, known as "Overclocking", there is a section in this review on overclocking for those who are interested...

THE INTEL PROCESSOR.
Review of Intel Pentium 4 530J / 3 GHz processor by
packerlist
Advantages: VERY HIGH SPEED IN PROCESSING
Disadvantages: : MAKES NOISE.
...I got this just for two reasons; the number one reason is that my other Intel seems to be outdated and the number two reasons is that I wanted a more advanced and faster processor for my PC gaming so I had to buy this for these reasons. The processor comes in an orange packed colour with blue stripe at the edge of the pack and also with an instruction, heat stick and fan for cooling down the temperature.
The processor makes it outright for easy installation and application so no problem when it comes to installations and ease of use.
The Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHZ socket 775 CPU has hyper technology and I think that was the best processor computer product I could find in the market and I decided to buy it after a long battle between Intel and athlon processor on which one to buy. The Intel processors that I have been using have been...

New 64 bit series processors
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 2 GHz processor by
munrrr98
Advantages: 64 bit processing
Disadvantages: none
...I recently upgraded my machine to include one of these processors, the current specs are:
AMD 64 3000+ processor
512 DDR sdram
64mb graphics (soon to be 128)
Abit AV8 motherboard (Very good value and performance)
This processor is one of the new range of 64 bit processors that are now starting to emerge from the big manufacturers. They allow the processor to pass data in 2x as many routes (simple explanation) - process channels, than the previous 32 bit processors. This gives them the advantage of being able to multi task much better and so stabalising the system when running numerous programmes. This will soon give rise to many 64 bit applications that make use of the extra juice that can be squeezed from the processors and win XP 64 will become the new microsoft standard (it is currently in beta stage testing...

The best cost effective Processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
appollo2006
Advantages: 4 cores. New G0 stepping Q6600 runs cooler and is easy to overclock
Disadvantages: Software doesn't take advantage of all 4 cores.
...I bought this a while ago for £160 even at that price it is a bargain and now you can get it £140 a no brainer in my opinion. An extremely powerful processor 2.4Ghz per core adding up to a total of 9.6Ghz.
The best thing about this processor for me though is its potential for overclocking, if you get the new G0 stepping which is a must this processor can easily be overclocked to 3.3Ghz just by using a good cooler such as a Scythe Infinity and would probably be able to be overclocked to 3Ghz using the default cooler.
This processor will do it all if you want to encode a video no problem I have encoded a full 90minute film in less than 30minutes and while I was doing that I was also playing a top end game without any lag. Coupled with 2Gb of fast DDR2 memory and a good graphics card such as a 8800GTX your new rig will easily be able...

Ideal mobile processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 / 2 GHz processor ( mobile ) by
gaddy6
Advantages: Fast, runs quietly, doesnt overheat.
Disadvantages: None so far.
...Intel are the leading company in world for selling processing units fors desktop and laptop computers. You can expect from them, to strive to produce newer and top of the range processors that are way above and beyond any other competitors products. This processor is another excellent example of their continual improvement in laptop technology.
Customer service is excellent through intel and any questions and support you have about their products are always answered quickly and concisely I have encountered no fobbing off with false answers through my correspondence with them.
I am currently sat my laptop with this exact processor in, and I have not met a single problem with it. One can expect laptops to be slightly slower than desktop computers, but this processor makes the gap between the two appear very minimal. As a non...

Best Value Processor On The Market
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 / 1.8 GHz processor by
Wickentree
Advantages: Value for money, Performance, Easy to install
Disadvantages: Small 1MB L2 Cache, Instructions are a little lacking
... Performance
I thought that it would be best to talk out the performance of the processor first since this is what everybody is looking for with games and application becoming more demanding. The performance of the E2160 out of the box is quite slow at only 1.8GHz but this is where the beauty of this processor comes in, it is highly overclockable, I have mine running at 3.2ghz and it doesn't go above 60 degrees C. The small 1MB L2 Cache does let it down slightly compared to some of the more expensive reviews but this CPU has amazing performance for its price.
Price
For its price this CPU is outstanding, I got mine for just under £50 and 3.2ghz from a £50 processor is just brilliant in my opinion, even some of the more expensive processors don't get these sort of speeds. This is bar far one of the best value...

The BEST processor you can get for under £100!
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 2 GHz processor by
tomhughes
Advantages: Lightning fast with a variety of applications, fantastic price, good package
Disadvantages: Runs a bit hot, not much 64-bit software yet.
...THE CHOICE
I recently decided it was time to finally give my ancient Athlon 500-based system a rest and build a new one (on a budget of around £400). Obviously the CPU is a fairly important choice to make when building a new computer so I put in a lot of thought and research and eventually settled on the AMD Athlon64 3000+ for my new machine. The current price of the 3000+ model makes it only slightly more expensive than the 2800+ and actually cheaper than the equivalent AthlonXP! There's no Intel processor available that can touch it at this price. I paid around £95 for the P-I-B (Processor-In-Box) package, which includes everything you need.
The Athlon64 comes in various varieties, 754pin, 939pin, FX and a range of speeds, all of which have slight differences and may require different motherboards. The 3000+ I chose is a 754pin...

Intel's E6600 processor from HEAVEN!
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor by
ichkeria
Advantages: Relatively economical, Extreme performance, Extreme Overclockability, Low temperatures/Power usage
Disadvantages: Not any!!
...One word, awesome. That's the only way I can think to describe this processor to you. The performance that you get with this CPU is astounding, destroying my petty benchmarks. With very little effort I was able to overclock it to far faster speeds than the top of the line Conroe processors, and this only on air! Bottom line is, if you want performance that will knock you sideways and overclocks that will make the tuner in all of us stand up and take notice then this is the CPU for you.
If you buy the more budget E6300 or E6400 you will be sacrificing not only clock speed but 2mb of level 2 cache. So if you want a processor that will give you the performance of some of the more expensive chips with just a little tweaking this is the one for you.
Up to 40 percent faster than previous generation desktop processors the Intel Core 2 Duo...
