However with all this knowledge now, How many of you are careful about making sure you never go out without protection. Children are most at risk from the sun as their bodies don't produce melanin which helps protect the skin from the UV rays. Sunshining? then use sunnies!

Advantages: easy to apply, no bottles that leak, quick and easy
Disadvantages: your hands turn white, they are expensive and can tend to dry out

...So, ok we haven't really seen the sunshine yet and our normal summer is over, but i write this just in case the weather forecasters somehow manage to predict correctly that we do get an Indian summer!! My son is your average normal toddler won't keep still for more than five seconds at a time. ...Summer is upon us again and both my children arrived home from school with letters requesting that each child be supplied wtih suncream for use at break times. Due to the latest health and safety rules, the teahers are not supposed to administer the sun cream to children themselves (although I'm sure they would if a child was struggling). For my older child, who is 7, this wasn't a problem, I simply supplied hm with a small bottle of sun lotion and made him promise to apply it every break time. However, I had visions of my younger child of 4 years struggling with a bottle of sun lotion and ending up with more of it on her clothes and hair than on her skin. ...With the kind of hot weather we have had this past week I have been really desperately needing a drink. Water is alright but sometimes you just want something with that bit more. I ran quickly to the supermarket to see what caught my fancy and there it was Sunny Delight in all its orange glory. I picked it up and ran to the checkout. Created in Florida in 1964 it was bought by P&G who carried out test marketing on Sunny Delight. In April '98 it was launched in the UK and the light version was launched in 2000. So, I remember the days when the adverts graced our screens the children running about playing then the mother giving them all Sunny Delight. It was cheesy but never really persuaded me to try it. ...I had a F Reg 1998 Nissan Sunny Coupe 1.6 GSX Petrol for 156000 miles across 7 years. This fantastic car needed not a single top up of oil or water for the WHOLE 7 years. Yes, I do mean no leaks AT ALL. The block went rusty because of the non-oil leak protection, as only seen on classics according to the garage who very regularly serviced my car. Regular (6000 mile oil & filter changes) preventative maintenance kept this little rocket on course with the minimum of fuss and expense. The worst consumption I ever had from this car was 32 mpg, the best 56 mpg and 45mpg was my average. 97 bhp isn't a lot today, but this car was very lightweight and could take on the hot hatches of their day with no problem. ...Seven sunny days is the second book I have read of Chris Manby's. The first one I read was Running Away from Richard which was a good book but it took me a long time to get into. I had to really force myself to sit and read it (once I was fairly well into it, it was okay but up until that point it was a struggle!) Luckily for me this novel was much easier to get into. I picked this up is our local woolworths because I needed a new book to buy (I seem to like buying lots of new books) but the thing that attracted me to this book was the story. We stayed at the Elenite Holiday Village situated in a quiet bay 10km north of Sunny Beach. The village works on an "all inclusive basis". This was the first time we'd ever gone all inclusive and as everything in the town is so cheap, if we were to go back it would probably have been the last time we'd gone all inclusive aswell. The apartments in the village are clean. All rooms have terrace, telephone, SAT TV, mini bar, bathroom with hairdryer and air conditioning. The family suites have a bathtub as well. Rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. The beach was beautiful, the water, clean and blue, the sea bottom is shallow and safe...

...Imagine my delight, a close friend living in Turkey and a propsed month long (yes 4 weeks!!) holiday in the South East, sunny (and my goodness it was) Mediterranean. Bliss. But what about Aleyna, only 5 months at the time. Naturally sunbathing was out of the question but with my pop up SPF cabana and a seriously cool (and very pink) SPF outfit including desert hat, (for Aleyna I mean, I was decked out a little bit more trendily) we were set to go. But No, what about sun cream, I have got a whole selection of baby sun cream but I managed to pick up the Pampers Sunnies on a (fairly) special offer from Boots for 6pounds (yes they are pricey).
