...Taking zinc supplements at the first sign of a cold has been scientifically proven to shorten the length of the cold by up to three days - no bad thing when your nose is bunged up, your eyes are sore and your head feels like someone filled it with cotton wool. My dad's a biochemist who was involved in the research, so I know this to be true. You do have to be a bit careful which type of zinc supplement you buy to get the optimum results. Zinc mixed with vitamin C is no good, and anything that says zinc citrate is useless too - basically, these types have other ingredients that prevent you absorbing the zinc properly. What you need to look for is zinc gluconate - one tablet a day at the very first sign of a tickly throat or runny nose will have you up and about in no time. Body Shop Illuminating Supplement

Advantages: works well, nice non-sticky feeling

...If you are looking for an AHA type product that is not too rich or harsh then,I think, the Illuminating supplement is a good substitute. It is suitable for all skin types and works to brighten the skin by gently exfoliating the deadskin cells accordingto the label on the bottle. I was told that it helps to lighten pigmentation on the skin and give it a more evn skin tone. Having tried this, I found the texture, which is almost like water to be suitable for my skin. It does make the face feel slightly taut and fresh after putting it on, unlike other products which give you a sticky feeling. Thats is the best part about this product. It contains glycolic acid, mulberry bark and coix seed extracts and panthenol to help moisturise. Oh and it is also suitable for those with sensitive skin. An Eye Supplement you will remember to use

Advantages: reduces puffiness, reduces signs of fatigue such as dark circles.
Disadvantages: pump design that won't remove every last drop.

...I have just finished a bottle of Body Shop's Eye Supplement, which costs £6 and lasts ages. It is suitable for all skin types and 'helps reduce the appearance of fatigue'. I found it very gentle on my sensitive skin, and didn't skip a single morning or night of using it! You only need to pump a tiny bit of it out for both eyes, one squirt to be precise. Contains plant proteins. One drawback (a small one) is that the pump won't reach every last drop. But I managed to get the last drop using a clean cotton bud! But even this I think is much better than trying to squeeze a tube to the last drop. Oh, and my store has run out temporarily :( Overall, very good....

...Not quite sure what the actual logo is that Ciao have put next to this opinion must be their new coding system (I don't think it belongs to Woods!) but........I got hold of a Woods Supplements catalogue just before Christmas. The Royal Mail sent through some junk mail asking if we were interested in receiving any of about 20 companies catalogues (I must be one of the only responders to junk mail as I get heaps!!). Basically, this was one of the firms' that was listed. The catalogue turned up about a week later and looked like one of those horrid booklets that fall out of your Sunday paper (and then fall instantly into the bin!). It is rather cheap looking to say the least, but I'm glad I opened it. Woods Supplements offer vitamins, minerals and beauty products at really cheap prices. I don't know if they offer a permanent sale...
