Diamond SupraExpress 56e PRO-A fabulous fast 56K modem

Advantages: Fast and reliable
Disadvantages: Lacking 25-pin serial connector

...This modem was the second I bought just after unmetered ISP's first went hot and I got my registration disk for ntlworld (sorry to anyone who hasnt got theirs yet). Until this time I refused to get an ISP from home because I knew that I would be on for an average of 12 hours a day and simply could not afford that. The first modem I bought was a cheap "hayes compatible" 56K flex external from the local shop which I had numerous problems with and took back 24 hours after purchase. At this point I actually decided to find out which modems were considered as good and discovered that Diamond have a very good reputation and are not that expensive. I nipped out again to a different retailer and bought the "Diamond SupraExpress 56e PRO". When I got it home I plugged it on the machine and it went off like a charm connected perfectly...

Toyota 3.0i non turbo, 1986 7MGE engine.

Advantages: Performance, rear wheel drive, brakes, handling.
Disadvantages: Expensive parts, inner body panels not protected.

...I bought this car in 1996 , after being left a few bob by my lovely Gran ( god rest her soul ), this was another one of those "man things " I just had to have ! . I'd always noticed these cars passing by in the opposite direction, and was always impressed by their almost female shape, ...... rounded at the front, slim in the middle , and the rear rounded as well ! In my opinion most Toyota's look great from the front , but they lost the plot on the arse end ! , not so with the supra. Fit and feel. ************* Getting into the car is a bit of an operation, especially if you're a fat bugger, ( unlike myself ), being so low , and the driving position, you physically have to bend yourself into the thing. Awesome performance

Advantages: Awesome performance, Refinement, relatively cheap

...Get one of these cars! The mark 2 Toyota Supra is an awesome beast. The 3.0 litre, 24 valve, turbo charged V6 engine give almost Ferrari performance at Ford Escort prices. Get the 4 speed automatic version for added refinement with very little performance loss over the manual gearbox. Now adays you can pick up this motorway burner for as little as £4,000 for a 10 year old model with 70,000 on the clock which is great value when you consider what you get and when new would have cost you over £27,000. You get electric windows and mirrors, air conditioning and CD/Radio/Cassette as standard in all Supras with some coming with heated seats too. ...In my life of car owning, I have driven many cars. I have owned a Supra twice. The first was a non-turbo and to be honest although a well spec'ed car at the time (1986) it only packed 6" of power. However since 1998 I have owned a mk3 Supra Turbo. I have now promoted myself to 12". Male sexual symbol maybe, but what a piece of automotive engineering. This car was way ahead of its time. One of the best modems around

Advantages: Cheap, reliable, good connection speeds leading to speedy downloads

...I bought this modem recently to replace my old Diamond SupraExpress 336i ISA modem which finally gave up on me. The first thing that always gets you off to a good or bad start with a piece of hardware is the ease of installation. Im pleased to say that the modem was detected straight away and the installation was very easy, taking one restart before the modem was usable. The modem gives me good dialup connection speeds although it is slightly more sensitive to lower quality lines so will decrease your connection speed slightly if you have a not so brilliant line. However I always connect at around 43k which is acceptable. The download speeds are good, it is cheap and being a hardware modem, is good for playing online games with, as it doesnt rely on your CPU to power it like nasty software modems. ...About 6 months ago I heard a very strange clicking noise from the back of my compter. On closer inspection I found this to be a problem with my old Diamond 33.6k internal ISA modem. It was randomly trying to connect whilst my machine was booting and then wouldn't connect once I had got into Windows. I got my son who is a computer technician to take a look at it and as to my worse fears, the modem needed replacing. I had always been very impressed with my Diamond modem so I asked what would be a good replacement.
