Handa's Surprise - A Book With Fabulous Illustrations and Humour

...Handa's Surprise I was working in the school library, when I stumbled across this book - it brought back memories of when I used to read it both to my own children and also the children in my class. What is it all about? This is a beautifully illustrated picture book published by Walker Books. It starts with a foreword that says " The children featured in this book are from the Luo tribe of South West Kenya. It tells the tale of Handa. She decides to walk to see her friend Akeyo and with her she carries 7 fruits which she thinks Akeyo may like. Now the journey is long way and she carries the fruit on her head in a basket. Along the way she passes many animals, who help themselves to the fruit out of her basket and it looks as if she will have nothing by the time she arrives to see her friend. Not my kind of surprise

Advantages: nice packaging
Disadvantages: too sticky, caramel is too strong

...We were given these for free as a christmas gift. At first I thought it would taste delicious but then I was defnitiely not very happy. The packaging is wonderful and the glittery cover makes you want to taste this surprise.In terms of taste it is not too sweet and the texture is very soft but the only issue is the sticky caramel that leaves its taste for a long time after eaten. It is not even easy to chew as I was expecting chocklate at the centre I was a bit dissapointed.For people who love white chocklate and caramel its a lovely chocklate but not for specialy the dark chocklate lovers. I found it very hard to chew this chocklate and it made me thirsty as well. Plus it is very sticky so I advice people to have sufficient tissues with them. Overall I wasnt realy impressed....

It's no surprise my son loves this book

Advantages: brightly coloured, Multi-cultural and educational
Disadvantages: Simple tail perhaps not for older kids

...Kinder Surprise Advert The only Kinder Surprise Advert that has stayed in my mind is the one with the mum going out shopping and saying to her two children 'Do you want me to get you anything?' of course they do, and they ask for 'Chocolate' and a 'Surprise' and a 'Toy', what greedy children they are! Mum of course is very lucky and stumbles across the wonders of the Kinder Surprise Egg. A mixture of milk and white chocolate in the shape of an egg that when you crack it open you will find a small yellow container, open it up and inside is a small toy! Wow, what a surprise! And of course the children were so happy and pleased! I think that this was an American advert that was then brought over for use on our television, the advert had a soft misty look and the voice over was American.I can't remember what the music was like...

...When it comes to chocolate treats, if there's one that annoys every parents in the world, the Kinder Surprise, or Kinder Egg, is the one. Made by the Ferrero group as part of their Kinder brand (that includes, Kinder Chocolate, Happy Hippos and Kinder Bueno amongst others), it's an egg shaped treat with a ball inside it with a toy in the middle. The problem is they often become very popular with children and have a rather hefty price tag (around 60p), the price it's self isn't too bad (it's bad, just not TOO bad) until you consider the egg is only really a mouthful sized.
