...Playing a lot of online games I needed something that would compliment my surround sound pc card. Many stereo headsets would have done but you would not be taking advantage of the surround sound features. Not knowing the brand or reading any reviews I went and bought it. And boy am I glad I did !. After ordering it online, it turned up in a box made of thin card board with all the features on the front. When I opened it there was a glossy black box inside, I opened that and was surprised by the packing. All the components were in plastic bag placed on a satin covering and a bow tied around it. Advantages: Great surround sound, Pleasing design, Complementary to Creative Speakers, Easy to use, cheaper option to replacing internal soundcard of laptops plus the bonus of having surround sound, wide range of inputs other than PC.

...The FPS1000 speaker system isn't the best setup in the world, it has to be said, but with the correct sound card, I own a Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Player, the sound at even a quarter of the possible volume is plenty for everyday use. Crank the volume up for those dance tracks you've just downloaded and you get the impact of a full-blown stereo system. Friday nights allow you to annoy the neigbours when you take the decibels up to the max. The distortion is minimal and the sound is awesome. The four speakers are small in comparison to complete stereo or surround sound systems but they pack a hidden punch, this combined with the excellent sub-bass woffer which is placed centrally all give this sound system unstoppable, ear pounding volume. ...Since I could not really afford to go for the Digital Theatre Option, I opted for the Fps(Four Point Surround)1000. These are simple analog surround sound speakers but do the job very well. They are bundled with the sound Blaster Live cards in some packages which is where I purchased mine from. The music Quality is substancially better now with the Sub woofer and four speakers, allthough the speaker dont seem to like a very very high pitch sound as they can muffle it a little. No problems with the power, they pump out enough volume to run a disco off, and enough Bass to rattle the house. The price of them is comming down and so these are becoming a really good buy in terms of value for the pound. I would reccoment these to anyone who listens to music on there computer alot.... ...Unless you've used your PC with a decent pair of speakers you won't know what you're missing; but when you do know what you're missing you'll NEVER want to even think about going back. We've all used the cheap "tinny" £10 speakers thinking they'll do, but they souldn't! It's a crime against your ears. The box comprises 4 satellite speakers for true surround sound and a subwoofer speaker for pounding bass. the satellites are very deceptive in that they are very small and don't look as though they could do much, however, the volume can be turned right up or right down and the sound does not become distorted or crackly. At first, the number of wires is very daunting, but thankfuly the instruction manual is excellent and guides you through the installation, which isn't nearly as difficult as it looks. ...These are among the least expensive set of surround sound speakers available, however the sound quality is comparable to that of more expensive sets. Included are 4 speakers with optional wall brackets, a vertical subwoofer with integrated amplifier, mains adapter and wired remote control. The speakers are fairly heavy and of solid construction - I have knocked them off of my desk a number of times and they still work fine and show no signs of damage. The frequency response is good, and the sound quality is excellent, even at high volume. The rear speakers have faily long leads (approx 3.5 metres) and have standard 3.5mm connectors so can easily be extended. The only slight problem with the speakers is that they are a little top-heavy. The speaker magnets are rather heavy and are located more than half-way up the speakers so... Read review

...I recently purchased the Panasonic Home theatre System, with full surround sound and DVD player. It has a 5 disk multi changer, radio, tv, vcr and aux inputs. I comes with 5 quality speakers and sub woofer, which for their small size give an excellent sound quality. I have actually for the front stereo left and right bought two Tannoy floor mounted speakers. I must say it is like being at the cinema with full surround sound. Seeing and hearing this product is believing. I was convinced to buy this product when I watch the BMW scene in the car park from the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. ...for a high price because they can claim to be "surround sound" and people just accept it. This used to happen a lot with Pro-Logic systems where people assumed that just because it has 5 speakers means it's proper cinema sound. But any film made after Batman Returns uses a far more sophisticated system. ------------------------------------ What's out there? ------------------------------------ The industry moved very fast in creating new ways to put sound into movies. Some formats lasted less than a year before being replaced whilst others were outdated before they were even released. Some were downright stupid.
