Small Speakers, Small Sound

Advantages: Small, lightweight, can be used with any mp3 player
Disadvantages: Sound quality isn't great - speakers not very powerful

Quality 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers for your PC

...I'm reviewing the Logitech X-530 speaker set, which is a 5.1 Surround Sound speaker set for your computer. The X-530 consists of a set of five small speakers, known as 'satellites', and subwoofer, which is the larger unit that produces the bass. This is where the term '5.1 Surround' comes from. The "5" represents the satellites and the ".1" represents the subwoofer. I've had the speakers for a month now and I think they're great. Home theatre, or home cinema, systems will usually hurt your wallet quite a bit and although the X-530 isn't really a home cinema system or even part of one, it is a good alternative for your PC. A home cinema system would usually have a Logic 3 amplifier as well as the satellite speakers and subwoofer but the X-530, being a PC speaker set, connects to your computer using analogue signals. Review of Speakers' Corner, Hyde Park, London

A good, cheap set of 5.1 surround sound speakers.

Advantages: Cheap, fair sound quality and build, good for gaming and films on PC
Disadvantages: Few flaws such as stand not standing up, problem with sub.

...I brought this not really knowing what I was getting, I couldn't find many reviews about them, and wasn't really 100% sure about buying them. I went ahead anyway, and I don't regret buying them. They are a good set of speakers for gaming and films, I also use them for music, but really, to get the most out of your music you need a good HiFi, as these speakers don't have the best sound quality going. So, if you want a good set of surround sound speakers for your PC, these will do nicely, and won't break the bank. The sound isn't all that bad though, the subwoofer produces fair bass, which plays the lower frequencys nicely, though the driver is on the small side a bit and they make a strange noise when you put them up too high, like the speaker is hitting the casing, so not too well designed there... The mid range and highs are good...

...I got these speaker is 2004 and they are still going strong. I have taken them on holiday, to school and they are now my computer speakers. They can be used about every where. Amazing peice of kit. ( been half way around the world) Hardley dented at all. Unlike normal computer speakers or portable speakers these include a small amplifier with the volume control and added "bass boost " controls. This is really great as the speakers can be on another shelf and the amplifier can be on your desk so you can control them without moving all the time. -The speakers- The speakers are really great quality and can deliver a vast range of tones easily. These speakers came in a rather blank box, with HP written on it, they came nicely packed with a lovely and very easy to use instruction booklet. They looked very professional and they are a nice grey/silver colour with a tint of blue, you plug these into the back of your monitor and they run off the monitors power input which is very useful, they do not have a power cable themself because they use the monitors cable for power, meaning theres a saving of plugs when it comes to your two point plug way! The speakers are prevented in dark blue plastic, with a silver/grey with "Hewlett-Packard" on the front, with the soft cotton above covering the speakers themself, tinted at the top with a silver/grey strip. ...I received these speakers as a Birthday present in March from a friend. I was thrilled with them as I had been desperate for a docking station or speakers to play my iPod on. The speakers: The speakers are very attractive and compact yet produce a rich deep bass sound, which is not always present on speakers of this size. They are very lightweight and fold to close at 15 ounces and 8 inches wide, 5.4 inches deep and 1.2 inches thick.
