It Sounds Great
Review of Dell Dell MMS 5650 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers by
RichPrice
Advantages: Exceptional Sound Quality
Disadvantages: None
...opened my new toys. It was a bit of a shock to discover (in addition to the usual polystyrene and plastic bags) the contents:-
4 - I think very trendy looking - surround sound speakers
1 big (well 275mm x 160mm x 270mm and it weighed a ton) - sub woofer
1 (rather dinky) centre speaker, with metal stand
A cable which had three outputs and one input
Rather bizzarely a spare fuse….
An instruction manual
The Subwoofer is in a black MDF case, the others are all black with metal/metal effect stands. They look very contemporary, even trendy.
This could be difficult I wasn't quite expecting this much kit, and did I have room to set it all up in the small room where my PC lives.
First job read the instructions. I have to say idiot proof is not the word. The instructions are so clear that almost anyone (except perhaps my ex - no we...

Quality 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers for your PC
Review of Logitech X-530 by
Deru
Advantages: Low price, Great build quality, Sound quality, Looks stylish
Disadvantages: Not many controls, Rear speakers not loud enough, No digital-In audio
...I'm reviewing the Logitech X-530 speaker set, which is a 5.1 Surround Sound speaker set for your computer. The X-530 consists of a set of five small speakers, known as 'satellites', and subwoofer, which is the larger unit that produces the bass. This is where the term '5.1 Surround' comes from. The "5" represents the satellites and the ".1" represents the subwoofer. I've had the speakers for a month now and I think they're great.
Home theatre, or home cinema, systems will usually hurt your wallet quite a bit and although the X-530 isn't really a home cinema system or even part of one, it is a good alternative for your PC. A home cinema system would usually have a Logic 3 amplifier as well as the satellite speakers and subwoofer but the X-530, being a PC speaker set, connects to your computer using analogue signals. A 'true' 5.1 sound...

Are you after some new speaker's?
Review of Monitor Audio Silver S1 Bookshelf Speakers by
consumerpower
Advantages: Looks, sound, build, just about everything really
Disadvantages: You can't buy them new anymore, Monitor Audio has replaced them with a newer model the RS1
...'t feel like you are listening to music you feel you are in it. Music laden with panning and stereo sweeping effect's are especially enjoyable to listen to as these speaker's recreate these effect's brilliantly, to the point were you could almost think you were listening to a full surround sound kit.
These speaker's are incredibly efficient, easy to drive and due to there high sensitivity, guarantee immense sound pressure level's(loudness) even with low powered amp's . That for me is another reason why these speaker's are so good they make the most of my not so powerful 50 watts RMS amplifier, where as other less sensitive speaker design's would make my setup sound a bit weedy in the loudness department. If you were to ask me what musical genre's these speaker's excel in, I couldn't really give you a confident answer. My musical tastes...

4 speakers for the price of 2
Review of Cambridge SoundWorks FourPointSurround FPS1600 by
Dunc
Advantages: Value for money, surround effect in games
Disadvantages: Lots of cabling, not perfect quality
...I have a SoundBlaster Live! soundcard which offers connectivity for four speakers. I decided to make use of this connectivity, so I bought a set of these four point surround speakers. At under £50 I wasn't expecting superb sound quality, and I didn't get it. But it came pretty close! The fact that there are four speakers plus a sub compensates for the lack of power of each individual speaker.
The speakers are excellent for games such as Half Life, where you can actually hear things going on around you. This really improves the gaming experience, with enemies being heard all around you and gunshots ricocheting around the walls.
At this price, the only disadvantage I can see is the rather large tangle of cabling that is necessary to connect all the speakers to the computer. This is slightly untidy but is fairly easy to hide under...

Video Logic ZXR-550 5.1 Surround Speakers
Review of VideoLogic ZXR 550 by
JaYmEZ
Advantages: Cheap, and fantastic sounding
Disadvantages: Nothing, maybe colour if you are fussy but everyone likes silver right ?
...= 10.6 Kg, and as I will be going to university this September I need something light I can carry these are not to heavy but the units are very solid and compact, you know they are good quality straight out of the box ! :-)
Cables with this beast include, the standard 3x 3.5 stereo jacks to dual phono's (these go from the sound card to the bass woofer unit, and are pretty long, roughly about a meter and a half each) also speaker cables from each satellite unit, these are insanely long for the rear ones and I have god knows how much spare hidden by my system :-) my room is roughly around 4 meters by 4 meters and the cables would easily cover this and more!
For the satellites.... these are small units which can have an additional base stand added to them to bring them to an equal level thus making the surround more equal, very handy...

Do not watch a horror movie using these speakers
Review of Mission FS2 AV Speaker System by
thijsj
Advantages: small, excellent sound
Disadvantages: a matter of taste
...I am not an audio specialist, so I will just try to tell you in my own words the experience with this audio video speaker system set. If you want to know about the exact technical specifications, please visit the Mission website at http://www.mission.co.uk/index1.htm and click on product gallery, FS2 AV.
The system comprises a centre speaker, 4 satellite speakers (front left & right and surround left & right) and an active subwoofer. Mission managed to keep the speakers very small (HxWxD = 31x13x4.5cm!)given the fact that a new technology is used (NXT, see www.nxt.co.uk). With this technology you do not need cones of various sizes to reproduce sounds of various wavelengths. The speakers are actually made of a sandwich construction of 2mm foam core with woven glass fiber outer skin. The idea bhind NXT is that a speaker sound panel...

What a set of speakers!
Review of Videologic ZXR-550 Speakers (5.1) by
CaptainBirdseye
Advantages: Great Quality, Great Price
Disadvantages: lead lengths
...At this cost I wasnt expecting this set of 5.1 speakers to be of particularly high qualtiy, I was however pleasantly surprised.
Videologic have created number of sets of speakers that have a great balance between quality and price, the ZXR-550 being just one of them.
I am currently using these speakers with my PC, replacing my old 2.1 speakers with this 5.1 set has made game playing a whole new experience, games such as Call Of Duty really come to life with surround sound and the ZXR-550's do the job perfectly. The sound quality is crisp and clear, and the sub pumps out plently of base. The volume controls, which may not be perfectly placed, are on the subwoofer, they provide an easy way of configuring the set-up as there is a seperate control for the centre, rear and sub channels as well as one master control - all very useful...

A good, cheap set of 5.1 surround sound speakers.
Review of Sony SRS D511 by
joefireline
Advantages: Cheap, fair sound quality and build, good for gaming and films on PC
Disadvantages: Few flaws such as stand not standing up, problem with sub.
...I brought this not really knowing what I was getting, I couldn't find many reviews about them, and wasn't really 100% sure about buying them. I went ahead anyway, and I don't regret buying them.
They are a good set of speakers for gaming and films, I also use them for music, but really, to get the most out of your music you need a good HiFi, as these speakers don't have the best sound quality going. So, if you want a good set of surround sound speakers for your PC, these will do nicely, and won't break the bank.
The sound isn't all that bad though, the subwoofer produces fair bass, which plays the lower frequencys nicely, though the driver is on the small side a bit and they make a strange noise when you put them up too high, like the speaker is hitting the casing, so not too well designed there... The mid range and highs are good...

Videologic ZXR 550. Big Volume, Little Speakers
Review of Videologic ZXR-550 Speakers (5.1) by
reviewermarc
Advantages: Sound clarity, BASS!!, tweeter
Disadvantages: Inverse quality/volume
...About a year ago now, I got fed up with those appalling little speakers that attatch to the sides of the monitor that comes as standard with your pc.
However, i've about £65, and really cant afford Logitechs £250 speaker system with the latest what-not. SO, I found logitechs 5.1 surround setup.
If im being honest, bass was my number 1 priority (being a room shaking kind of guy when i listen to music...), and so when I found the sub included with this set packed in a quality 25Watts I was pretty chuffed considering the price at the time.
Boom, I ordered it, and eagerly awaited the arrival.
For those who want to know all the specs:
Each Speaker (2 Front, 2 Rear, 1 Centre) = 8Watts RMS
Sub = 25 Watts RMS
Upon arrival of the package ( a hefty 10kgs at that), I opened the box to a maze of different manuals, leads...
