...I am usually happy with all things Ciao, but this review is on one area that sadly I am not happy about. And this is surveys, or rather in my case the not-surveys. As we all know (or if you are new to this then this is what SHOULD happen), we all get an invite to complete a survey on Ciao through an e-mail invite with a link to the survey. The survey can be on anything, provided of course that it is just Ciao related or they don't like it. By clicking on the survey link, you should then be taken through to the actual survey itself. This bit is fine for me, but soon after it all goes a little bit pear shaped. Advantages: Pay real money, usually easy to complete
Disadvantages: They're out to get information for nothing

...If money talks, it speaks volumes about Ciao's priorities. Sweat out a review of a well-remunerated product, assuming a few dozen reads, and you could earn a pound or two. Usually it's a lot less. If you're like me, you may have spent many hours writing and researching that review. Fill in a survey however, and Ciao might pay you a couple of quid - or more - for 20 minutes' minimal effort. That suggests to me that our responses to surveys matter more to Ciao than our reviews. Other evidence bears this out. ...Signed up to 'Ciao Surveys' when I started trying out several survey sites a few months ago. The site is free to join and open to members over 14 years of age and UK residents for the UK version of the site. I signed up free and waited for surveys to come in which they did. ...I find myself confused by the purpose of Ciao surveys of late. When I joined Ciao I took great pride in earning my pennies by participating in the relevant surveys they sent me on a fairly regular basis. My view on Ciao surveys

Advantages: There is a low minimum payout of £5.00
Disadvantages: Some of the surveys are very long and you dont get paid much for them.

...Ciao surveys is very easy to join once you have registered you will have a chance to fill in your profile which has various sections for you to complete. Some of the sections include: Basic profile, Interests, Media, Travel and many more. They say the more of your profile you fill in the more likely you are to get a survey sent to you. The site sends out regular surveys by email I get about 6 a day I don't always complete them all it depends how long they take to complete. The length of each survey varies and so does the rewards they state the time it will take and the amount you will earn on the email. Some can take 30 minutes to complete for 10p so I don't normally do these. But others can take just a few minutes for a higher reward. ...Right let?s start at the beginning. I can?t imagine that there is anyone out there who doesn?t know what Ciao is, especially as you must be connected to the site if you are reading this review, but just in case I?ll tell you. Ciao is a review site which is similar to Dooyoo but with much less capacity for earning. A few years ago Ciao was the superior site of the two as Dooyoo had lots of bugs but the balance has long since shifted and Ciao is definitely second best now ? in my opinion of course. ...Ciao Surveys is a survey website in which you enter details about yourself and they send you questionnaires related to these details and you get paid money for completing them. Now this all seems great until you actually start. Like most people, I have two major issues with this website. The first is the fact that it seems that every single survey they send me, I'm not eligible for. This is fair enough but what is the point in spending about 20 minutes filling out loads of questions about your self, so Ciao can apparently send you surveys that relate to you when the ones you do get just don't relate to you. Also, the second issue I have with Ciao Surveys is the fact that the price for each survey is ridiculous! I had one survey that lasted one hour and was only going to pay me 50p! 50p for a whole hour of my day! I don't think so...

Disadvantages: It is a waste of time

...How many people out there have been duped by the advertising about earning money by doing online surveys? The claims that you have freedom to work when you want to are correct but the rewards for such activity are way, way below what is suggested by the advertisers. The worst cuplrit of them all in offering virtually nothing for time spent is actually Ciao. I cannot believe that they can actually offer 10p for a 30 minute survey! I'd earn more with a hat on the street corner! In my experience online surveys take a lot of time for very little reward. When I retired with very little income I thought I could earn some extra cash and signed up for a number of online surveys.
