...Very easy to use wrist diving computer. The information provided is clear and the digits are large enough to read underwater. Information provided when diving is depth, time, no decompression time, water temperature, ascent rate, safety stop and nitrox mix. As a scuba diving instructor I have had 3 Mosquito's and always found them to be reliable, even after many hours of diving. As the computer is on all the time it can be used as a watch, the bracelet is black rubber and the facing comes in different colours. An additional extra is the face protector which I would recommend to avoid scratching the glass. Down side is that the battery life is only around 6 months, but the battery change is not too expensive to replace. Suunto Vector Black Negative face

Advantages: Light weight, good features if calibrated properly. Rugged.
Disadvantages: Quite big, but it does do a lot to be fair!!!!

...Spent some time looking for a good outdoor watch with Altimeter, Compass and Barometric Pressure etc.. The Vector hits all those and so far seems pretty accurate. The compass once calibrated properly is accurate to within 3-5 degrees, one nice feature is the levelling bubble on the face that allows you to get a more accuarte reading. A big watch in terms of circumferance but really light weight you will not notice it on your wrist after a few minutes. The Altimeter is pretty good but you do need to update it quite regularly, the best way to do this is to put the height in to the Altimeter, being one of the older watches in the suunto range it doesn't have the function as some of the newer one s do of being able to freeze the altimeter mode when at home and leave it in Barometer mode and then switch to Altimeter when out hiking, but i...

The advantage it has over the previous watch is that it is much smaller, and lighter but its 'face' is just as clear and easy to read as the larger earlier model. On top of this is that it has a pc interface which though the software and connection cable have to be purchased separately mean that you can use your pc or laptop to store a complete record of your dives. It was also among the first commonly avaliable computers to have a user replaceable battery, which when the unit gets regular use can work out substantially cheaper than having to keep sending it away to the manufacturers. ...a trend display. However I have fooled it by ascending quickly, when I know the pressure hasn't changed! More an interpretation. sometimes. The compass is very good if you can trust it. I have had it reset itself on me on a long walk. Using it can be a bit difficult becase it is attached to your wrist and there are only so many ways you can bend your arm. The reset procedure is quite complex and you may have to do it more than once to get it absolutely right. The manual asks you to remove and replace the battery. However this cleares the logbook and defaults the settings. So don't unless you HAVE to reset the compass. There are a host of other features one layer beneath this overview. Gotta have a Garmin Edge 205

Advantages: wireless, accurate, can analyse data, water proof - Excellent
Disadvantages: Sometimes a loss of GPS signal, still quite expensive

The vast amount of information is aimed at professional athletes, and whilst it is not that much use to me I find it really interesting and it is very easy to compare different rides of the same route. The Edge 305 has a heart rate belt, as well as an optional cadence sensor, which will even give the users heart rate information and show the heart rates at different stages of the route so you can not only see how steep the hill was, but also how hard your heart was pumping as you were going up it!! The Edge 205 does not have this function but I am not overly fussed since I have a Suunto T3 heart rate belt and monitor which I bought before the Edge. MBA saves your routes and posts them...
