Review of Suzuki GSX-R750 by
tayloa22
Advantages: all the fun of a 600, WITH MUCH MORE POWER!!!!!!
Disadvantages: Not quite as good finish as Honda's
...Suzuki GSX-R750- A Review By Addy
Having been an ardent dedicated Honda man for the majority of my biking life, I actually relented and bought a Suzuki GSX-R 750. I was definitely looking for a step up from super-sport 600's, after having 3 different models of CBR 600. I was giving serious contemplation to two other bikes at this time which were Aprilia RSV Millie, or a Honda CBR 900 Fireblade. However, after much deliberation and friend's recommendations, I went for the Suzuki. This was based on the judgement that you get the best of both worlds combining raw 750 power in a 600 chassis. The first Gixer 750 was released in 1985 and has undergone periodical changes since then.
THE LOOK
As in the picture above I purchased mine in the typical blue and white Gixer colours. In standard form the bike is aesthetically pleasing...

1998 model hates the cold
Review of Suzuki GSX-R750 by
dan916
Advantages: Speed, power, sex-appeal
Disadvantages: Very, very few!
...As with most reviews of this bike, I COULD begin by talking about the bike's affinity with the track, but I'd only find myself repeating what has been said numerous times before. Instead, I feel I should talk about a specific problem I have found with the '98 model.
My bike has now become my regular commuting bike, travelling around 1000 miles a month to and from outer London. It's been a dream to ride up until recently, when the weather started to turn cold.
On a rather cold, windy morning earlier this month my GSX-R finally gave up on me whilst riding to work. The engine cut out as I pulled up to a busy set of traffic lights, the fuel-injection warning light came on, and the bike refused to start again.
Not being the most mechanically minded person I know, I tried everything I coukld to start it......bump start, check fuses...

Once, twice, three times a bike
Review of Suzuki GSX-R600 by
Goran
Advantages: good handling, comfortable, a lot of boot space,
Disadvantages: It is considerably larger looking than the competitors
....
Having been 17 at the time I took my test, I had no option but to take the 125 restricted licence option.
The Bike
The day I passed my test, I bought a brand new CBR600F/sport, which was restricted by the shop. A few weeks later I had some unwanted attention from a Renault Clio and ended up getting another CBR through insurance. I won't go on about the CBR in too much detail, but I will use it to compare to the GSX-R 600.
In August 2003, I got rid of my CBR and bought a second hand GSX-R 600 K1 model. The person who sold me the bike had really looked after her and it had only done 2000 miles in 2 years.
The GSX-R was pronounced the 'track bike' of the 600 class in the magazine reviews. This is mainly because Suzuki concentrated on the handling and power delivery of the bike, rather than looks and general town riding. It is because...

Unleash the Beast....
Review of Suzuki GSX-R600 by
ccaadaw
Advantages: Sexy Looks with Race Bred performance, at low cost!
Disadvantages: Petrol Guzzler!
...I have been riding motorbikes since I was old enough and ugly enough to consider it. I have now managed to gather enough money together to buy a Suzuki GSX-R600. Some may say that it is too much for an 18 year old to handle, but I would have to disagree, and say that I have never had so much fun with my clothes on!
It has sexy looks combined with top quality performance. It is lightweight, easy to flick into corners, and easy to lift the front wheel whilst being chunky and overall a fat bike!
I have owned the bike for five weeks and can't keep my butt off the seat! Not to mention the front wheel on the floor, this beast (with a road permitting) can power its way into fourth gear from low down in first on the back wheel! ;o)
However, the only problem is that of the Cam chain, most if not all slightly earlier models need to undergo...

Red hot pocket rocket
Review of Suzuki GSX-R600 by
aadams
Advantages: Fast,looks good,performace of a 1000cc
Disadvantages: LOSS OF LICENCE PROBABLE,Build quality, warranty issues
...(although it has done 17000 miles in 2 years)
The bike has just started to have power problems which has been a nightmare to solve, my dealer had no clue what was causing it and charged me a pretty penny to tell me so!(I seem to have solved this over the last few days by using super unleaded fuel instead of premium)
Other than that it eats tyres and chains but that’s down to the sheer power the bike has and you will have that problem with any supersport on the market.
In summary, I use my gixxer for nearly 80 miles a day and apart from the power problem that ive had recently I cant fault the engine ive done 17000 miles and its started every day.
Its comfortable enough to go 2up for about 100miles in the summer (if the pillion passenger is small)
NUFF SAID, it’s a hard one to beat. Its got the power of a 1000cc bike...

My Return to Sportbikes
Review of Honda Interceptor by
syoungs
Advantages: Versatility
Disadvantages: Lack of low end power delivery
...'t laugh, this is a great bike). If you have a death wish get a GSX-R1000 or an R1.
I am in an extremely fortunate position that I can ride many different types of bikes (there are some advantages to living in Southern California where half the world's biker population lives despite the teeth rattling earthquakes), and while I try to be open minded about the different manufacturers, I always seem to migrate to the Hondas and Suzukis. This is just my opinion and you can take it for what it's worth. Everyone will find the bike that best fits them and their personality, it just takes time.
Interesting side note - the woman got to sit on a few dirt bikes and agreed to purchasing one for us and one for the kids. I don't even want to think about what that's going to cost me......

2006 Yamaha R1- quickest way from A to B
Review of Yamaha YZF-R1 by
goodo
Advantages: Wonderfully refined sportsbike, Looks ace, great comfort for a sportsbike
Disadvantages: Desirability, likelihood of theft, high insurance group
..."Don't try to be clever with it, that's what the guy on the Gixxer did, he tried to be clever and now it's in a right old state. This one's brand new and immaculate, and we'd like it back in this condition"
I am in the motorcycle shop picking up a hire bike for the weekend. The bike that I had originally booked out, a Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5, is apparently no longer roadworthy, so I've been offered an R1 instead. I'm OK with that. I was hankering after a go on the king of 1000cc sportsbikes, but sometimes you've just gotta go with the flow. In any case didn't Wills just buy an R1? Well, if it's good enough for the second in line to the throne, it's good enough for me. Having just been told there's a £750 damage excess, I'm starting to feel a bit nervous, that I'll do a repeat performance of gixxer boy, and put myself £750 in the red...

Great 1st Road Bike for early Mid-Life Crisis
Review of Fazer FZs600 by
flything
Advantages: Performance, Cost
Disadvantages: Quality of finish disappointing, Falling Off
...responsive a middleweight 4 cylinder bike is compared to any car costing less that 60k or how smooth the engine feels compared to the twin cylinder 500cc bikes that most instructors use, you'll just have to wait and find out yourselves.
On top of that its a comfortable bike with a good range that will easily allow you to ride for 2 hours without feeling the need to stop (although at 70mph that is about the most you'll get out of the adequate tank range).
While it is an easy bike to manage, it will do an indicated 140 and reach 60 in under 4 seconds so restraint is needed if you don't want to lose your license or worse - however it never is a handful and the smoothness of the power and handling mean it won't scare you if you don't want it too.
I've had no problem out-riding a Honda Firestorm for example although a GSX-R1000 will eat...

Review of Honda Interceptor by

Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: see text
...shows of yore, where the over-paid compere puts his arm round your shoulder and says, 'now, you can't go for the car but there are a whole host of other prizes to chose from' the world was not my oyster.
You can get a lot of bike for your money at the moment by shopping around, but where you come a cropper is when you try to ensure it. If refusal offends then don't even think about lusting after that completely mad balls-out grim reaper machine (which in my mind right now is a Suzuki GSX-R1000) because most insurance companies will either a)turn you down or b)laugh and then turn you down. Forget five millenia of no-claims discount on your car policy, the boys and girls in suits want to see evidence of keeping a clean sheet on two wheels, significant years on your own clock to suggest a modicum of common sense and a garage, alarm...
