...-in with the Hell’s Grannies of SW15, I made my way home. Once there, I put off the fateful moment by the simple expedient of trawling through various fridges looking for a suitable beverage with which to enjoy my savoury treat. Settling on a bottle of my favourite beer: Caledonian Golden Promise (I’ve even got a picture of the stuff on my computer’s desktop. How sad is THAT?) I sat down, opened the dinky little bag and began. For those unfamiliar with McVitie’s Mini Cheddars, I should tell you that they are a baked cheese biscuit, measuring about 3cm across. Small enough to get about 14 in your face at once, should you be so inclined. This new flavour, on inspection, looks much the same as the one I found under my bed, though less dusty. ...My friend and I are usually more than happy to slob out in front of the TV with a take-away on a Friday night. Last week, though, we had plans to meet up someone we were at university with a couple of years ago and we didn't particularly want him to see us in all our glory (or distinct lack of). We therefore decided a trip to a local restaurant was in order and as we were meeting in Putney, a restaurant in Putney it was. My friend chose Strada because she'd eaten there before and knew that the food was good as well as being reasonably priced. ..., or alternatively mix and match your dishes from the main menu. Another definite bonus at The Yeast is that you can bring your own wine. Whilst they do offer a reasonable wine menu, with white starting from £6.50 per bottle, and beer at £2.50 per glass, for a corkage fee of £1 you can bring your own wine, excellent if you enjoy rose as it is the one thing they lack. Unfortunately you can't bring beer, but the beers on offer are great and still cheaper than in a bar. The Yeast is an excellent choice if you are after good food for a fraction of the cost. Hakasaan it may not be, but for the price and service, you couldn't wish for anything better. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
