The Swan Hotel - Newby Bridge, Cumbria
Review of Swan Hotel, Newby Bridge by
Natalie0302
Advantages: Very tranquil, pretty setting and beautiful hotel
Disadvantages: Car park is about 500 yards from entrance - when it rains you get very wet!
...My partner and I stayed at The Swan Hotel in Newby Bridge last weekend and i felt compelled to share our experience with others...
The hotel is located at the Southern tip of Lake Windermere and overlooks the River Leven. It is in an absolutely beautiful setting, is accessed via a small bridge and is set right back from the main road.
I think in total it has 55 bedrooms, some of which are suites - but we opted for a standard double during our stay.
We were in room 313 and this had a river view - as do all the odd numbered rooms i think. The room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfy (although very soft). The bathroom was perfectly pleasant, although decorated in a slightly 'old fashioned' way. You get a few select Sky Channels in the rooms and also broadband is available. The minibars are well stocked but...

Decent hotel in the middle of Stafford
Review of Swan Classic Hotel, Stafford by
larsbaby
Advantages: Nice rooms, friendly service, good food
Disadvantages: Location might be noisy at the weekend
...and general look of the hotel was pretty plush. I would highly recommend this hotel for any business travellers. If it's coming out of your own pocket, if you can get a decent deal then go for it!

The Hotel
The Bedford Swan Hotel is located in the centre of the lively town of Bedford, occupying a great position on the banks of the River Ouse right next to the Town Bridge. The hotel was built in 1794 for the 5th Duke of Bedford and was acquired by Paten Hotels in 1916, who remain the long run owners to this day.
The Hotel is the ideal base for exploring the local area featuring 104 Standard...

FOUR STARS FOR THREE SWANS?
Review of Hotel Drei Schwanen, Hohenstein-Ernstthal by
RICHADA
Advantages: Superb Food. Large Room. Very Attractive En-Suite Bathroom.
Disadvantages: No Air Conditioning. Mini-Bar Not Working. No Secure Parking. Limited Facilities.
...for a hotel had spread out to the west along our route, I suggested that we try Chemnitz, a town approximately 60km (40 miles) closer to home than Dresden. After several searches, www.travelres.com came up with the Hotel Drei Shwanen (Three Swans) in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, a small town close to Chemnitz, but even closer to the Autobahn.
HOTEL DESCRIPTION / OUR PERCEPTION FROM HOTEL PUBLICITY
Mrs R was particularly taken with the appearance of this hotel – which from the photographs and information on the website had a decidedly old world charm to it. Certainly it looked very different to the chrome and glass surroundings of our usual two modern Dresden hotels.
……I say information on the website, what I actually mean is what we could glean from the German only language pages and very attractive accompanying pictures.
Being a four star...

The 4* @ The Southern Tip of Lake Windermere
Review of Swan Hotel, Newby Bridge by
juliet_bravo
Advantages: Picturesque part of the country, fairly luxurious, Fantastic Gym
Disadvantages: No Spa, Prices can be steep, Summer Hols are too busy
...The Swan Hotel at Newby Bridge is situated at the Southern most tip of Lake Windermere. It is in a beautiful location, overlooking the river Leven (which flows into Windermere) and is set back from the main road, accessible by a traditional stone bridge which has been there for centuries.
HISTORY
**********
The Swan was formerly a small, traditional guest house and the old part of the building dates back to the 18th century. It's owners, Mrs Bardsley and the late Roland Bardsley subjected it to a huge overhaul in the mid nineties, spending a vast amount of money converting it from a homely 7 bedroomed inn to what it is today.
THE HOTEL
**************
It has 55 bedrooms, 7 of which are in the old part of the building. The further 48 rooms, 6 of which are suites, are spread over two floors in the new wing of the hotel...

A Touch of Class.
Review of Swan Hotel, Bedford by
wulise
Advantages: Great afternoon teas, particually at Christmas!
Disadvantages: Resturant is not particually quick or efficient.
...The Swan Hotel, Bedford, reminds me of my childhood, when my Grandmother took my brother, Gareth, stay and I on our first in a hotel ever. It is a unique hotel, which seems to invite relaxation and calm. There is even a leisure centre inviting its guests to unwind and is a complimentary facility to any guests staying overnight, in the hotel. This takes the form of a ‘Roman Style’ Leisure Pool and Spa Bath.
The Swan Hotel is an elegant hotel, which is part of the ‘Paten Hotels’ chain. This hotel overlooks the River Ouse and yet is situated this stands on a site in the heart of Bedford’s town centre. It is a magnificent grade II listed building, built in 1794 for the 5th Duke of Bedford, now offering excellent modern amenities combined with traditional values of comfort and care, associated in ‘days...

SOMEONE HAD A VERY DIRTY WEEKEND HERE
Review of The Swan Hotel, Royal Tunbridge Wells by
LostWitness
Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: See review
...On a recent business trip to Tunbridge Wells in Kent, I was rather hard pressed to find a decent hotel. The town is very popular with tourists, but modern, well-equipped hotels are still quite few and far between in the town centre. My corporate booking agency finally came up with The Swan so that’s where I ended up.
The hotel is situated approximately ten minutes walk from the train station, right in the middle of The Pantiles – the main shopping/tourist attraction in the town. One side of the hotel (the side where the main entrance is) faces directly onto the main road through the town centre – the other side looks out onto the pedestrianised Pantiles. Needless to say, the roadside is infinitely less attractive than the other, so I was a little bit dubious as I made my way into the building.
The Swan...

Cathedral views
Review of Best Western Swan Hotel, Wells by
fossiebear
Advantages: Wonderful location, nice place
Disadvantages: car parking not brilliant
...We arrived at the Swan mid afternoon to find the road closed and the hotel surrounded by Police - we wondered what we had let ourselves in for!!!! However, our minds were soon put at rest when Reception told us they were not Police but actors - they were filming a film "Hot Fuzz" (see website) around the city during the week and they had 22 rooms reserved at the hotel.
We had booked using KitKash points and got a really good deal (£77.50 per room per night including breakfast) in what turned out to be a good quality 3* hotel. Our room was not the best in the hotel, but it was perfectly adequate, clean, decent size, recently decorated and pleasantly furnished including flat screen TV. comfortable beds and good quality freebies too!
Breakfast was good as well - plenty of choice from the buffet and hot dishes served to the table...

Good value at the Goodearth hotel, Perth
Review of Goodearth Hotel, East Perth by
Jim2003
Advantages: Central location, good area, value for money, clean and comfy.
Disadvantages: Occasional sagging mattresses, plus check your account carefully.
..., and b) because of the inconvenience, I would not be charged for the breakfast I had just eaten.
You may be wondering about my room. I had asked for non-smoking, high up, ( the hotel is about seven or eight floors approx ? ). My studio room - in fact a kitchenette - faced to the river, and if I craned my neck from the very compact balcony, I could just see the Swan River. Perth appears to be in the midst of a building boom, and this has had meant that the Goodearth has lost some of its formerly fabulous views. However I was quite satisfied with what I'd been given.
My room had a small ensuite, with a curtained shower area that was part of the tiled room. It looked very compact, but the shower worked well, with adequate hot water.
One free soap and one shampoo bottle awaited me as freebies.
Ciao readers be aware - the Goodearth walls...
