SWAN OR EVEN PACIFIC MODEL PT O1 2S
Review of Swan LCJ9AC by
ANNJSEC
Advantages: inexpensive. neat and tidy easy to store away
Disadvantages: only toasts half the bread
...Firstly, my apologies. I am writing about Pacific PT01-2S under Swan as there is no PRODUCT NOT FOUND facility within the toaster department.
Having said that, on with the opinion. Well what can you say about a toaster except that ....it toasts bread, or at least it toasts half the bread as for some reason bread slices are too big for normal bread toasters. Where are the designers I ask myself. Are they too important for such trivia. Why on earth aren't appliances made to fit the product they are cooking these days. We have too small ovens, too small microwave ovens, tiny sinks, etc., etc.,
I selected this particular toaster because of it's price £7 from Asda Stores so perhaps it is a little tawdry of me to complain. The Pacific however replaces a far more expensive model which gave up the ghost, but which also only toasted...

Definitely the best era of Billy Swan
Review of Billy Swan/Four - Billy Swan by
prom22
Advantages: Fantastic tracks
Disadvantages: Does not include "I Can Help"
...In 1976 I was listening to Billy Swan singing "I Just Want to Taste Your Wine" and enjoying a long, hot summer! At the time I bought the original LP (yes, vinyl!) - the one entitled "Billy Swan" with the grey border - and loved every track on it, which was pretty amazing because for me the odds of that are astronomical!!
So when I saw this combination CD advertised I decided to indulge my nostalgia and buy it - and no, I was NOT disappointed with the other 10 tracks from the original LP entitled "Four".
All together this CD provides a history of what I think is the best period of Billy Swan's career and it certainly takes you back to those lazy days of summer (when it really was hot all the time!)....

The Old White Swan
Review of The Old White Swan by
Dawson
Advantages: One of the nicest pibs in York, live music, Millionaire, massive toilets
Disadvantages: A little bit out of the way
...Here's number 5 in my short series about my pubs in York. The Old White Swan is one of my favourites, and in my opinion I definitely under-use it. Firstly, how to get there.
From my general start point of the fountain in Parliament Street, head north-east towards Efe's kebab van. If you have any sense, stop there and get some food, and your photo taken (which will be posted on the van the following week). Incidentally, I rate Efe's 6 out of 5 for food. Anyway, from Efe's, head east down the street containing the F1 shop, and Cappucinos. Continue past Wine Rack, past Boots, and thw Old White Swan is on the left. On Fridays, there will be 2 bouncers. The large one with the waxed head is Andy - he's cool. Enter.
The Old White Swan has distinct areas. There is a nice courtyard with vines and stuff in the centre, which is excellent...

ugly duckling or beautiful swan?
Review of Black Swan Green - David Mitchell by
hollywoodmum
Advantages: funny, witty, 80's nostagia
Disadvantages: none really
...I'd never heard of this book before I read it, I had actually gone to the library to get Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell (a book I've herad a few people rave about), when I got there it had gone but they had this, his latest novel, as I was in a rush I just got it without actually reading what it was about.
The Story
Black Swan Green is so named after the village where 13 year old Jason Taylor lives with his mum, dad and older sister Julia. When we first meet Jason he seems like any other 13 year old he's starting to fancy girl's and is desperate to be popular and liked by his peers. Underneath though Jason is hiding the fact that he's a poet whose poems are published under an alias, he daren't use his real name cos everyone will think he's 'gay', Jason is also desperate to hide his stammer as he know it'll be an excuse for the lads...

SOTY - The Black Swan ~ 10/10
Review of Black Swan, The - Story Of The Year by
GerlofL
Advantages: All the tracks are better then their older stuff
Disadvantages: You only get 13 tracks, it makes their older stuff look pale.
...in 2007, and they are still with them today.
-------------The Tracks----------
Well, what you probably opened this review for, you want to know whether you should buy this CD or not, I say go for it anyway, even if you hate the music, because ' The Black Swan' is a movement that is against the discrimination of homosexual and negro people, which I find worth supporting. However, its great to have a good CD from somebody you support, so here goes.
1. "Choose Your Fate" - 3:34 ~ 9/10
First Track, starts with spoken text, like a radio broadcast. Brutaly broken, and the music backing the breakout is great, sounds quite different from the older SOTY, neverminding the vocals, that have not changed that much, which can be a plus or a minus, there are some heavier parts, which personally does really great in my taste. Definatly a cut above...

My Dying Bride - Turn Loose the Swans
Review of Turn Loose The Swans - My Dying Bride by
bagoproverbial
Advantages: Original, intense, powerful, melodic, epic
Disadvantages: An acquired taste for those who don't like a challenge!
...It seems that very few people have heard of My Dying Bride, outside of rock & metal circles. They've never made it big in the way that some of their contemporaries have, which to me is more than a shame- it's criminal. They are one of the most original bands of their kind and every new album brings with it something new to be admired.
"Turn Loose the Swans" was released in 1993, at a time when "goth metal" and "doom metal" was emerging (if only a little) from obscurity. Bands such as Paradise Lost had already achived a small measure of success, and My Dying Bride, who also hail from West Yorkshire, brought out this, their first (vaguely) commercial effort.
"Turn Loose the Swans" is dark, epic, and mournful, an album that suddenly turns from peace and tranquillity to visceral, shuddering noise- great slab-like riffs of enormously...

I'm a Swan!
Review of SWAN Rapid Boil Cordless by
tange
Advantages: Reasonably priced, attractive looking and works well.
Disadvantages: Small amount of steam escapes when boiling...but not much else lets it down.
...I know kettles aren’t the most interesting of items, but most of us use one everyday ~ probably more than once too! When our old kettle was looking a bit grubby, and started to boil only when it felt that way inclined, we decided it was time to replace it (it was about six years old after all).
Our kettle was a white, cordless Swan kettle and it had served us well ~ it had now earned its place in the Great Kettle Graveyard and was ready to pass the torch on to a new model….but now we faced the decision about what the worthy successor would be!
It seems that kettles come in all shapes, sizes and prices. We just wanted a kettle but the array on offer is pretty mind blowing. Finally we decided on another Swan kettle (our previous one had lasted well and had been very reliable up until last off) and this time we went for a rapid...

Swan SC2002
Review of Swan SC2002 by
Viviana1
Advantages: Light; powerful; easy to carry; works well on all surfaces
Disadvantages: Pipe and brush head a bit flimsy
...I wish I could find another one of these. I bought one about 5 years ago and it is the most powerful and handy little cleaner I have ever had. (And I\'ve had quite a few in my search, I can tell you.) The only thing I didn\'t find comfortable was the pipe and brush head, which I quite easily exchanged with my old hoover.
My helper has just cleaned our neighbour\'s house with this little Swan and she has a white cat, red carpet, a loft extention and lots of stairs. When she came home she said she\'s never seen it looking so good and her precious Dyson is on its way out and she is on the search for a Swan Sc2002.
OK it\'s not built to clean mansions, but it is most excellent for stairs. It is light, powerful and easy to use. Another advantage is that you can get disposable bags or stick with the two washable ones which come with it...
