Michael Flanders and Donald Swann were big stars in England in the late 1950 and early 1960s, also touring Canada, the USA and Australia. The wheelchair bound Flanders was the 'funny' man on vocals, with Swann 'the straight' man on the piano. I mean these adverts have got to be the cheesiest, most pathetic and most regularly shown adverts in the history of TV advertising, and I hate them. So, what are the “Claims Direct” adverts? Well, if I need to tell you that, you really have been off this planet, or maybe you’ve just been out of the country, so I’ll let you off. ...Well, I am very surprised that I am the first to write an opinion under this particular heading, due to the amount of (negative) press that there has been surrounding this particular company in the recent past. Anyone who watches television more than once a year at Christmas will have seen the advert to which I am referring to in the title of this opinion numerous times, I have no doubt. Despite my best wishes being to switch off generally when commercial breaks hit the airwaves, this much I have managed to glean from the advert: Declan Swann is a young child who suffered an accident some time ago in the playground at his school. This accident tragically affected his eyesight, we are all saddened to hear, obviously. ...Hello Poppits! This is an in depth review of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl, staring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly, among others. If you haven’t seen this film, and you don’t wish to know the ending, don’t read it! I will tell everything, so ‘ye be warned’ !! You can of course, skip to the last paragraph! The story starts with a young Miss Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) on board a British ship, sailing from England to the Caribbean, singing an old Pirate song. On hearing this, a crew member tells her to stop, and her father appears, and tells him to leave her alone. Miss Swann still looks out to see, and sees a young boy floating on a raft. He is pulled aboard, and Miss Swann is told to look after him. On further inspection, she sees that the young man is wearing a necklace of some sort... Read review
