...With the rapid advancement in gaming technology over the past ten years or so, few genres have flourished quite like that of the first-person shoot 'em up. This generation alone has played witness to a couple of Halo's; a new instalment of Doom, Unreal and Half-Life; Killzone, several Medal Of Honor's and more Rainbow Six and other such 'tactical' FPS games than you can shake a stick at. The problem, as PC gamers never let you forget, is that tactical FPS games don't really work very well on consoles - either due to the limitations of the hardware or control-issues centred on there "not being enough buttons on the pad", and so forth. However, SWAT: Global Strike Team, released back in 2003 for the PlayStation2, appears to be the exception to this rule, and something of an undiscovered gem. ...Well this is SWAT 3 a 3d shooter mixed with strategy- it got 91% in one major publication and 89%in another. It was described as "Fast action with strategy" and "it adds a whole new flavour to the genre" and "it doesn't get more real than this." So that’s what they think. This is what I think: ---The plot of the game--- The basic plot of a game is the same of any LAPD SWAT team leader. You must do your jobs, which involves hostage rescues and bomb disposals, without endangering civilian or officers lives by using an appropriate level of force. You control your team round dangerous indoor and outdoor situations. You are able to communicate with them and order them to do things. ---SWAT?? --- The SWAT teams are the American armed police, and by armed I mean armed!! ...I'll be the first to admit I don't go to the cinema half as much as I really should do to be going a lot more often. I'm still to see the latest Matrix film although from what I've heard about it here I'm still slightly dubious. However have been given the opportunity to see SWAT I took it up in a flash. The trailers I had seen looked pretty good and the fact it has Samuel L Jackson in it was just a bonus. The story line is unsurprisingly simple. After an armed raid on a bank the LAPD SWAT team are called in to deal with the hostage takers. It all ends in tragedy when one female hostage is shot by Brian Gamble (Jeremy Renner) and as he and his partner Jim Street (Colin Farrell) disobeyed an order to hold they are in serious trouble. Brian opts for the easy way out and quits the force. However Street decides to return to normal... Read review

...i was looking forward to seeing S.W.A.T. (special weapons and tactics) ever since i watched the American trailer July for the august 8th release there but i was amazed to find out that the UK release date was not till December which is very rare in a day where most films are released within a few weeks of each other both sides of the Atlantic or even on the same day (matrix 2+3, LOTR, X men 2 etc) so after a long 4 month wait I finally went to see it 2 weeks ago and i must say it was worth the long wait to see as it was very entertaining and not just on of those action films where the best bits are in the trailer. ...Swat 3 - elite edition after being a hardcore player of the swat series i decided to purchase the elite edition for my husband NOTE elite edition is the same as CQB edition just with the patches and updated 10 man career and 5 new mission already on the cd. The game in single player has 21 missions of varying skill's required this is not your average gun ho game. The 5 new missions are massive and require all your skills as a swat element leader to make sure u complete the missions and try to earn a medal. The single player game is a good learning kerve into controls , AI and breaching doors etc. The game comes into it's element within Multiplayer. 21 missions play as assualter or commander , do u breach and clear a room or pick the door and mirror for suspects. ...This is a film with Colin Farrell and you will not be disappointed with this film. It has everything you need from a film with action in it. Colin Farrell plays Officer Jim Street who has been demoted in his job as a police officer after a mishap on his last job his partner left but Street decided to stock it out and go for the demotion, until Hondo played by Samuel L Jackson turns up at the station to create a new team for the forces SWAT. Hondo gives Jim a chance to try out for SWAT along with various other troublesome people in the police force. Along with Street, are Deke Kay played by LL Cool J, Michael Boxer played by Brian Van Holt, T.J.
