Sweden! a lttle taste of Paradise!

Advantages: Clean, clean, clean!!! friendly locals, good transport, beautiful atmosphere-natural and cultural
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I don't know, but I've always had a great desire to go to Sweden. Scandanavia has always been so appealing...so different and interesting! And my wish came true back in April when i finally got on the plane with 3 of my friends, heading for Sweden! It was cold leaving London...rainy and completely miserable! And leaving to go to a famously known cold country....we expected bitterly cold weather. So we packed loads of winter clothes, only to find that when we got there, it was about 25 degrees...such beautiful warm weather, and that's how it stayed pretty much for the 4 days we were there for. When we landed, we'd already fallen in love with Sweden even though it was the first time any of us had ever been there. There was forest everywhere and no carrier bags flyinf about or anything! Flagging a Dead Horse

...My boyfriend and I currently live in Sweden (see my review 'Living in Sweden' if you want to know why!) and for 7 days this summer we decided to head off on an adventure driving and camping along the south coast of Sweden. I have a trusty Rough Guide book of Sweden which has been like a bible whilst living here, as I am constantly referring to it. Before we left for our trip I had a read through to check which places we should visit along the way, but other than that we had no idea of where we would be going and what we would see?. Green Flag. Just call them The Professionals!

...I do not use Green Flag. (I do not drive) But my boss does, and he is full of stories about how very good Green Flag are. I will let you in to a secret. Most of the recovery vehicles that come out to you when you break down and you call your favourite motoring organisation are not employed by the motoring organisation that you are a member of! It's true! What happens is that, unless there happens to be a patrol officer who is with your organisation really fairly close to you, they will call a local recovery operator to deal with your vehicle and to tow it to a garage or, if necessary, take it on to you destination. This is exactly what Green Flag does. Green Flag vs RAC

Advantages: GF very quick
Disadvantages: none really

...Having used the RAC and Green Flag over recent years, I have no hesitation in recommending Green Flag. Also as an ex employee of Green Flag, I know the company quite well. Both companies offer various rates of cover from about £40 up to about £130 from basic breakdown cover to services such as European / caravan cover. Also they offer other services but I am going to talk about the car breakdown service I have recieved from the 2 companies. My old Peugout(sp) was on its last legs and so breakdown cover was a necessity. Whilst with the RAC, I needed 3 breakdown calls, which meant my no claims bonus which they offer ( to deter flat tyre / flat battery / other waste of time calls) went out of the window. The guy came after about an hour (which would have netted me a tenner with Green Flag) and had a look, decided my battery was flat...

Green Flagging maybe

...Ok, I'll admit that up until about a week ago I always thought having breakdown cover was the equivalent of spending £90 odd a year for someone to come out and change a tyre for you, or bring you some petrol. A waste of money in other words. However, a week ago we were going to go to Southampton for the weekend to visit the in-laws. As we had bought a new car and not really given it a good blast down the motorway, we joined Green Flag through Churchill Insurance. Thank god we did! The oil pump went on our car, and as we were nearly there we carried on going, oblivious to the trouble and damage we were causing. To be honest, we thought we were out of water or oil or something else and that was why it was overheating. Anyway, we were wrong. Green Flag UPDATE

Advantages: easy to arrange hire car

...###### UPDATE 11/10/02 ###### The next installment: Green Flag took the van away to a garage (yesterday afternoon) for an estimate on repair costs. They explained that it was too late to have a thorough look at it so they would do it in the morning. (If they hadn't messed about so long it wouldn't have been too late). Pete is now stuck in the house (which is in the middle of nowhere!) with no food or drink (ok, there's apples on the tree in the garden and water in the tap!). He has a dead mobile phone battery, no way of charging up his phone (as he was using the vans cigarette lighter), and we have no land line in the house, so he can't even phone for a taxi. GF know all this but won't let him have a hire car until they know if he's going to get the car repaired! So, this morning we find out that the garage need to take out...

  Wi not trei a holiday in Sweden this yer?

Advantages: Lots of lovely museums, pretty trees, beautiful islands and buildings

Green Flag - European Cover

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Extremely poor service

...Having use Green Flag recently in France I would strongly suggest that if you need European Cover please look elsewhere. They were an nightmare. I was left 3 hours in the heat after calling the second time I was told it was going to be another 1.5 hrs!!. I eventually had to limp to where I was staying with dodgy wheel bearings as they didnt turn up. When I eventually got back the car was picked up 1.5 hours later. They then left me without a car for over 24hours. I was staying in a little hamlet in France with no shops therefre I couldnt get any food for the family. The car I got was smaller than mine and therefore with five passengers it was too small. By theway Green Flag state that they are only there to assist passengers and are not responsibile for luggage. I wouldnt mind but we only had holdalls and in a small Clio they...
