Sweet & Sour? Not So Sweet

...I don't expect much for my about a pound Sainsbury's ready meal. However I expected a bit more than I got. Today on my way out of the office I realised that I was foodless and therefore going hungry unless I popped into the supermarket and picked up a ready meal. Now normally I wouldn't entertain the idea of a meal in a plastic box which can be micro-waved. Not that I'm posh or anything, but I would rather cook and freeze food for the convenience of a quick meal rather than pay a fortune for 1 meal which can be instantly heated up and munched. However, on this occasion as I browsed the Sainsbury's ready meal section (which is very clearly labelled as you look up at the aisle signs) I found a Sweet and Sour Chicken and Rice in the Sainsbury's Basics range. Am I sweet or sour

Advantages: Nice price. Nice taste.
Disadvantages: Nice taste, but could've been a tad stronger.

...As promised, here is the third and final op in the 'Great British Takeaways' range of crisps. I've already written about the Chinese Spare Rib and Chicken Tikka Masala flavours. Now I'm going to tell you about the Sweet and Sour flavour. As with the others, I paid £0.27p for a 34.5g bag. Not a bad price. The crisps come in a kind of rustic orangey coloured foiled bag. The Walkers logo is on the front with the flavour and all the relevant contact details on the back with the typical nutritional stuff on the back. You will also see the other 2 flavours advertised in this range. On opening the packet, the aroma of the crisps is mild. It's not a strong or unpleasant smell at all. SWEET IN TASTE, BUT SOUR IN PRICE

Advantages: Very healthy and enjoyable

...Oh well, as promised I now have tried and tested half of the Findus ?Feeling Great? range of healthy meals, the latest being the ?Chicken Noodle Sweet and Sour? to which I?m about to write my opinion on. Firstly let me explain to anyone who has not read any of my opinions on this range, basically Findus ?Feeling Great? meals are in fact a range of meals that claim to be very healthy, without losing out on any quality and taste, the two meals I had tried before this were the ?Seafood Curry? and the ?Mango Chicken Curry?, both being pretty enjoyable (although the Mango Curry was a lot more enjoyable) and both being very healthy. ...I'm a bit of a fan of sweet and 'sickly' drinks - I love cocktails, especially fruity or milky chocolately ones - so it's probably not a surprise that I'm a big apple (and cherry!) sourz fan! It's a sweet-sour apple spirit and tastes great. Its smells really appley and sweet and that's exactly how it tastes. It comes in a 70cl bottle, which costs around £10 which I think is pretty good value. (£10.42 at Tesco, a few pence cheaper at Asda). It's 15% alcohol. It's very sweet to drink, with a tangy-sour kick. This is not overly powerful or at all nasty, in fact I find it adds an interest to the drink. I often drink this as a shot when out with friend - this is about 0.4 units of alcohol. ...near by like I do. (A double Sourz topped up with lemonade is only £2.35! and 50ml is about £1.55). But it comes in reasonally cheap bottles giving you 70 cl (which is the same as 700 ml) in supermarkets for around £9. I bought my only bottle of the delicious stuff from ASDA last week for £8.99. Taste ******* The most exquisite thing about it is the taste. One of the reasons why I've found it so difficult to find an alcoholic drink I like is that I don't really like the taste of alcohol. Notice how all the drinks I mentioned earlier all mask the taste of the alcohol by either cream, or fruit, or anaseed, or bubblegum flavour. ...You cannot fail to have seen the advertising for the new Walkers Great British Takeaways range - it's everywhere, as are the products which seem to be on special offer just about everywhere I go at the moment! I am not normally much of a fan of Walkers Crisps (too fatty and all a bit samey really) but for some reason I was a bit peckish on the way back from work last night and succumbed to temptation in the form of a bag of the Sweet & Sour flavour. I am not sure why I chose this over the other two new flavours (the Chinese Spare Rib and the Chicken Tikka Masala) because as a general rule I prefer Indian food to Chinese and have never been much of a fan of sweet and sour sauce. Sour iz yummy

Advantages: scrumptious yumminess is a bottle that gets you pist!
Disadvantages: GREEN is usually evil!

There is no alcoholic 'kick', no body juddering or screwed up 'eugchs' that many people experience after a shot of Goldsch or aftershock - Sugary and syrupy and not the least alcoholic - the only 'kick' from this is the sour tang that hits you at the end. Do you remember the days when sour sweets where actually sour? When EYE POPPERS for example really did make your eyes POP!? Well Sourz have captured that kick, the sour shiver thats lost now in our lieing sweetie world (sour cola bottles are sooo far from sour now! grr!) Its a delicious drink for us Oldsters that won't grow up. Its young, fresh, easy and delicious! Kinda like my good self! (wait...thats not very complimentary??!!!) okay - dull stuff: Its imported from the States (bless those American genius') and comes in 70cl bottles - dunno what that means but its a substantial quantity...

sweet and sour mini bites

...As a fan of Snack a Jacks I thought i'd try these mini bites, I chose Sour Cream and Sweet Chill flavour 28g. Morrisons Price 46p bogof so a bargain. On opening the pack the aroma of Sour Cream was nice but not much of a chill smell, this however is misleading as when I had eaten 2 mini bites the sweet Chilli taste kicked in and was very nice and tangy with the sour cream to offset the spicy sweet chilli flavour. They are a light and crunchie rice and potato based nibbles that are less than 10% fat. These snacks are ideal for people who are either on a diet or just watching their weight as they are low in calories and low in fat. Calories 115 Sugars 0.6g Fat 2.2g Saturates 0.3g salt 0.6g I found the savoury Sour Cream and Sweet chilli a pleasant alternative to the sweeter caramel which is my favourite flavour...
