SWEET IN TASTE, BUT SOUR IN PRICE
Review of Chicken Noodles Sweet and Sour by  brianlfc

Advantages: Very healthy and enjoyable
Disadvantages: Could be a bit cheaper

...Oh well, as promised I now have tried and tested half of the Findus “Feeling Great” range of healthy meals, the latest being the “Chicken Noodle Sweet and Sour” to which I’m about to write my opinion on. Firstly let me explain to anyone who has not read any of my opinions on this range, basically Findus “Feeling Great” meals are in fact a range of meals that claim to be very healthy, without losing out on any quality and taste, the two meals I had tried before this were the “Seafood Curry” and the “Mango Chicken Curry”, both being pretty enjoyable (although the Mango Curry was a lot more enjoyable) and both being very healthy. Right, on to the “Chicken Noodle Sweet and Sour” Once again, upon opening the packet last night the first thing I noticed was the quality of the meal, the vegetables looked crisp and tasty and the rest... I DON'T FEEL LIKE CHICKEN TONIGHT
Review of Tesco Sweet and Sour Chicken with rice by  fabfrog5

Advantages: It is quick and is on offer
Disadvantages: Not so tasty

...Tesco Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice - frozen meal. Whilst shopping in Tesco, we decided to stock up on frozen meals as i had not been in the mood to cook for a while. We browsed round the frozen Ready Meals and I decided on the blue packet meals. At 79pence each I choose the full offer, any 5 for £3.50, saving us around 40pence. The meals on this offer consist mainly of British traditionals and oriental foods. (The meal is also available online at www.tesco.com for home delivery.) I'm not going to do a background history on Tesco or who invented ready meals so on we go.... #The Box The cardboard box is blue and rectangular, with a decent looking colourful meal printed on the front. There is so much product information crammed onto the box. There is so much information it's quite hard to find what you're looking... Read review

Healthy Ready Meals
Review of Waitrose Perfectly Balanced Chilled Ready Meals by  denella

Advantages: Wide variety, healthy, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Poor Cottage Pie

...range is easily recognisable by the two-tone green background of the cardboard sleeve packaging. In the top right-hand corner, the percentage of fat and the number of calories per serving are clearly indicated. Some of the meals I have tried contain less than 2% fat, others less than 3%. The number of calories ranges from 205 (Vegetable Moussaka) to 470 (Tuna Pasta Bake). The bottom left-hand corner indicates how many grams of fat, saturates, salt, sugars and calories there are per pack. There is a fairly good variety of meals to suit different tastes in this range: several pasta dishes, such as Prawn Linguine, Lasagne, and Spaghetti Bolognese; oriental offerings including Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice and Chicken Korma with Pilau Rice; and several traditional dishes such as Cottage Pie and Fisherman's Pie. Vegetarians are catered... Read review

Tasty lunch-time meal, not enough rice.
Review of Asda Good For You Sweet and Sour Chicken by  Danneey

Advantages: Tasty, good amount of chicken, nice veggies.
Disadvantages: Not enough rice, not particularly filling

...Since our office at work moved to a new location, I have been shopping more regularly at Asda and have found their ready meals to be a little better than most. Better still, the healthier options are now becoming more reasonably priced. First impressions upon opening the package were, nice looking sauce, where's the rice. The tray inside, divided into two equal compartments contained the sweet and sour on one side, and a small amount of rice in the other. The rice looked lonely, occupying less than half of the comparment. I can only guess that they limited the amount of rice to keep the calorie count down, the 400g meal contains 415 calories. On the plus side, less than 3% of the meal is fat. I enjoyed the sweet and sour, there were a good few pieces of chicken that wasn't too dry, the veggies were a nice contrast too. I... Read review

The Tardis of frozen meals..
Review of Oriental Express Sweet and Sour Chicken, with Rice by  Punkslut

Advantages: Oven or microwave cook, great sauce and value for money
Disadvantages: The rice goes hard in the microwave

...To start with, I have to admit this is one of those products that always make me think “bless”, because they come in packs for one, and are microwave cook. A sort of Adrian Mole/Alan Partridge food, with a slightly pathetic air to it. So it was with trepidation that I added a pack of Oriental Express’s Sweet And Sour Chicken with rice to my online shopping basket. I was pleasantly surprised. To start with, the price is good at just £0.99 from the Tesco’s site, and about £1.60 in my local Safeways. Compared with microwave meals in the same range, such as Tesco’s own Battered Sweet and Sour Chicken at £2.99, it is excellent value for money. The instructions on the pack are, to start with, a little confusing, as the battered chicken needs to be taken out of its compartment and the others must... Read review

Tesco Healthy Eating Sweet Chilli Chicken
Review of Tesco Healthy Eating Sweet Chilli Chicken by  macteykith

Advantages: sounds exotic, cheap
Disadvantages: WHERES THE CHICKEN!!!!!

...Not a fan of sweet chilli, I thought I would give this a go. It comes with a multibuy, 5 for £4. Firstly, yes its lowcal ( around 350) but thats because its high in salt and fat AND theres nothing in the box! Its a small portion, as always. Cooking by microwave is better than the oven, simply because the middle always ends up colder to the edges with these meals. It comes with noodles. Two separate bits, but of course, noodles and chicken dont cook at the same rate so you run the risk of having only one side done properly if you dont separate them out. You shouldnt have to do this, so is needless fussing and contadictory to the ' easy ready meal' idea. Smellwise, imagine boiled watery noodles, and thats your smell. Once cooked, assuming you havent lost half of it trying to serve it up, you then find... Read review

Sweet and sourpuss
Review of Sainsbury's Be Good To Yourself Sweet & Sour Chicken with Egg Fried Rice by  Worrals

Advantages: Low in fat and calories
Disadvantages: Tastes really nasty

...I admit it: I'm spoiled. Down the road from me is a Chinese restaurant/takeaway which dishes up the most divine sweet and sour chicken. Succulent pieces of crispy fried chicken share a sticky red sauce with big chunks of fresh pineapple and green pepper, resting on a mass of rice or noodles according to your fancy. Mmm...my mouth waters at the very thought. But this isn't the story of that sweet and sour chicken. This is the story of this sweet and sour chicken. The dish in question was purchased by myself at Sainsbury's Local as a quick hot meal to shovel down between work and football practice (what hectic lives these twentysomethings lead, my goodness). 'Healthy eating' isn't something you often see in the context of oriental cuisine. So the Be Good To Yourself logo promising a tasty plate of sweet and sour chicken with egg... Read review

Sweet Chilli-Free Chicken
Review of Sweet Chilli Chicken by  ariadne

Advantages: Easy to prepare, nutritious, attractive.
Disadvantages: Tastes bland.

...I felt like having a hot lunch but couldn't be bothered to cook, so I thought I would try this product which has been lurking in my freezer for a while. Before I go on, I should point out that it is from the Findus "Feeling Great!" range - they do not produce a "Feeling Good" range, despite the Ciao category name. Initial Impressions = Where available, the product is located in the freezer section of your supermarket. It is essentially chicken and pasta with a sweet chilli pepper sauce, interspersed with a small selection of vegetables - the sort of meal that is normally described as "[standard meal] with a twist". The box looks very appealing; the main picture being a colourful photo of the cooked food. It is cunningly designed with two slot tabs at each side, which you pull out to open the flaps. The food... Tangy chicken, Moroccan style.
Review of Tesco Moroccan Chicken With Couscous by  yamcam

Advantages: Very tasty & cheap.
Disadvantages: Lack of chicken

...The last couple of months I have started doing my shopping on Mondays as hubby-to-be works away & I find it makes the time fly by & it means I can have a good mooch round Tesco’s without being moaned at for taking my time. Now if you are anything like me at home on your own with the kids for company, then like me you get their tea & don’t bother to cook for yourself, so what I found in Tesco’s is just for you (maybe). Walking along the freezers a couple of weeks ago I had to quickly move or get banged on the head (as I am a shorty) by falling boxes of frozen ready meals. Now being the good Samaritan that I am I helped the nice young man :-) pick them up & being nosy like I am had a read of the box. New Tesco Moroccan Chicken with couscous. Tender pieces of chicken breast in a sweet, spicy tomato & apricot sauce with onion, served... Read review

Review of Sainsbury's Be Good To Yourself Italian Style Chicken by  nikki_leeds

Disadvantages: None for me.
