What Shall I Do With My Other Hand
Review of Graco Citi-Sport by
Penfold49
Advantages: Light, comfortable and soooooo easy to use
Disadvantages: Doesn't fold as small as the 'umbrella' fold type
...My son will be one tomorrow and yesterday I went out and bought my THIRD pushchair for him. My first pushchair was bought because I really wanted a proper carrycot. That pushchair was fine until the brakes went, so in a mad dash to ensure my sons safety I purchased a second-hand Graco of some description (haven't got a clue as to what model it is!) This second pushchair seemed better than my first as it had a nice comfy reclining seat. However, it soon became clear that the folding mechanism, it's overall bulk and it's serious hatred for an uneven pavement was swiftly changing my mind about our relationship. So I went in search of the pushchair of my dreams.
*** My Criteria ***
Must be easy to fold away, preferably with one
hand!
Should be lightweight.
Absolutely must recline.

Food on the move
Review of Safety 1st Fold Up Booster Seat by
jpass
Advantages: Portable, light, brightly coloured
Disadvantages: none found
...If you have ever tried eating out with a toddler or small child in a restaurant that does not have highchairs, you will understand the frustration that this causes...
First you try sitting the child on your knee. It is not long before the novelty of being in a new and exciting place wears off and they are grabbing at everything in sight. Knives and forks make great play things, or so they think. They wave them around aimlessly and then decide that combined with a tablemat and a less than gentle tap, they have created themselves a drum. By this stage people at nearby tables are staring at you as you try desperately to contain your child?s excitement. You put the child on the floor in an attempt to stop the racket and they run away as fast as their little legs will carry them. You swiftly follow them to find that they have befriended...

It's a bugged buggy...
Review of Mothercare Colorado Travel System by
RadiumRob
Advantages: Compact, handles well, good value.
Disadvantages: Brakes operate spuriously, car seat very difficult to fit.
...My wife and I recently bought the Mothercare travel system for our first child. We looked at many similar products in the shop, but ultimately were drawn to the Colarado by its competitive price, neat looks and apparent ease of use. Sadly, the latter attraction proved unfounded.
Considering the good points first, the system folds tidily and occupies fairly little space when stowed. The assembled pram is reasonably compact, travels smoothly and has a tight turning circle, making for swift, easy pedestrian dodging manouvers, even on congested pavement.
However, we find the system's good points are greatly overshadowed by a couple of serious design bugs that manifest themselves every time it is used, causing a great deal of inconvenience and annoyance. Specifically, the position and operation of the brake bar is such that the pram...

Good budget buy
Review of Graco Mirage Travel System by
JenniFryer
Advantages: Good value, great car seat, quite light
Disadvantages: Cozy toes difficult to keep on, bit too lightweight
...I bought a Graco Mirage Travel System - comprising of buggy, car seat (for 0-9 months), car seat base, rucksack, raincover and cosy toes for my son about a year ago. The whole package cost £170 from Mothercare (via home delivery).
The buggy is pretty straightforward - it has three seat positions from recline (for young baby) through to upright. There is a baby shelf at the front which the car seat clips onto. There is a hood which was ok but the raincover is an absolute nightmare to get on - many a time I flapped around in the rain to try and clip it on.
The other downside with the buggy is the fact that the cosy toes (foot muffle) velcros on - so slides down swiftly when a squirming baby gets in. In the end I bought another one which tied on and was a lot more secure.
On the plus side it is light and pretty easy to get down...

BEST carrier for toddler (beats bjorns, sarongs!)
Review of Hippy Chick Child Hipseat by
JaneFrances
Advantages: No back/arm strain, easy to hoist kid on/off, easy wash and wear.
Disadvantages: Not fashionable... but who cares?!
...bag when not in use. I even wear it around me permanently on some trips out, not high-fashion, but as any mother knows, who cares when you can save your already exhausted muscles and spine some more abuse?! I have received envious stares from mothers, fathers and grandparents lugging their toddlers around with crooked spines and no free hands. Also more than five inquiries as to where I got this magic product.
I would rec it for anybody who has a baby who can sit upright unassisted and who likes to get down and walk/crawl... other baby carriers just don't cut it for ease of use at this stage when you just need to hoist them on and off you swiftly. My baby hates the fuss we go through for his bjorn and sarong-type thing and has outgrown being tightly swaddled to my chest, but this hipseat just like on-off magic! I wear it around the home...

URBAN DETOUR
Review of Mothercare Urban Detour Xtreme three wheeler travel system by
member7570
Advantages: VERY SMOOTH RIDE
Disadvantages: TOO BIG FOR BUSES
...ATTENTION
This travel system gets alot of attention as it does look great. I find it very easy to push around, moving swiftly around corners. The air tyres are great. But not good enough I'm afraid.
4 YEARS LIFE SENTENCE - NO WAY
The chair is from Birth up to 4 years according to the sales man at Mother care.
THE BIG WHEEL (LONDON EYE LOOK ALIKE)
The front wheel has a lock control. It has its advantages. However it is due to this front wheel sticking out so much, that causes alot of difficulties with space on the bus, restaurants etc.
KNOCKING HANDLE BAR
The handle bar is not adjustable. It sticks out alot, people on the bus cannot walk by without knocking the little one and the pushchair. Not good when they are sleeping, and taking up far too much room.

Lansinoh Disposable Breast Pads - outright winner!
Review of Lansinoh Disposable Breast Pads by
FunkyFaulkner
Advantages: Very thin, very absorbent and very comfortable!
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey but seriously worth it!
...layers to absorb more milk, where you need it (the instruction leaflet gives you directions as to where best to place this triangle but as I included the instructions in my ebay lot, I can't pass this on to you) and they didn't swell up as much as the Avent ones. However, as I needed so many to keep up with my supply, these too were rejected.
So, having tried washable, I moved swiftly on to disposable in an attempt to save those in the immediate vicinity from drowning in milk! Again, I tried several varieties - Avent, Tommee Tippee, Tesco own brand, to name but a few. In general the same problems arose - they were too small (approx. 8cm diameter) and they almost doubled in size when I started to leak. Both of these problems resulted in me feeling very self conscious and uncomfortable.
Finally, in desperation, I returned to the Bounty...

Peace reigns.
Review of Hug-A-Bub Baby Carrier by
babyicebean
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Don't try it with a three year-old
...Hug-a-bub is my god-send.This long slightly strechy length of fabric is responsible for peace in our house hold.
I was at a baby show with a crabby, whinging 11month old baby.Around me were these serene unruffled co-ordinated being which on closer inspection were hug-a-bub wearing moms (and one dad tho he may have been there to prove that wearing your baby was 'macho')
One of these tranquil being asked me if I wanted to try 'wearing' my daughter. She whipped out this peice of fabric and proceeded to wrap me up.She then lifted my child up and in a swift fluid movement nestled my baby against me.Baby then shut up and dropped of to sleep. She had always been a child that liked carrying but she was getting to the stage where the previous carriers, and we had tried most of them, didn't let me carry her for very long without causing backache...

Cosatto Stratford Cot Bed
Review of Cosatto Stratford Cot Bed by
YORKSTER22
Advantages: quality, value
Disadvantages: few
...A nice cot bed. We chose the antique pine one and are pleased with the wood and the finish, The varnish is a little shiny for our taste but I guess that's the price of having wipe clean wood.
It has 3 mattress height positions, drop side, teething rails and the footboard splits for when you need to change it from a cot to a bed.
A disadvantage is that it doesnt have a one handed drop down method like many other cots do,so to drop the side you have to lift a catch at each end of the cot.A niggle not a huge problem.
I built it easily on my own without the instruction book. Some how it arrived to us without the book but to cosatto's credit they swiftly replied to my complaining email with a copy of the instructions. Isn't it nice when a firm actually responds to emails for once?
we bought the cot from the glasgow pram centre during...
