SWIMMING!!
Advantages: Great way to keep fit. Great fun
Disadvantages: Early starts for training, Alot of hard Work
...I spent a lot of my time swimming either training or competing. I have been training since I was about 8 or 9 and I am still doing it today which means I have been training for about 5 or 6 years. Throughout this time I have achieved so much and have had so much fun. I love the sport even though many of my friends make fun of me because of the swimwear which can be uncomfortable at times and shows a lot of skin and is always tight.
TRAINING
As I just said I have been training for about 5 or 6 years but before that I did swimming lessons and so on. I train at Bo'ness Swimming club and have trained there since the very beginning. I train three times a week on Monday nights from 7 until 9, on Thursday nights from 6 until 9 and on Fridays nights from 5.30 until 7. This adds up to 6 ½ hours of training which isn't that much and some...

Globalisation Alert! Mall Rats Invade Cyprus!
Advantages: Good facilities. Well appointed. Light and airey. Air conditioned.
Disadvantages: Eye-wateringly expensive. Could be anywhere in the world
...INTRODUCTION
In the seven or eight years I have been going to Cyprus for my holidays, a lot has changed, and not necessarily for the better. It was only a matter of time before this beautiful island was afflicted with the relentless influx of multinational American brands and corporations that seem to blight Europe these days. The drive down the Finikoudes ? Larnaka?s main, palm-lined seaside promenade ? now takes you past McDonald?s, KFC, TGI Friday, Haagen Dazs, Pizza Hut, and Bennigans. The seemingly unstoppable globalisation of Cyprus seems well and truly underway.
So it was with dread and dismay that I received the news that Cyprus had been ?blessed? with two new malls since my last visit two years ago ? the ?Mall of Cyprus?, built next to an IKEA on the outskirts of Lefkosia (Nicosia), and the newer ?My Mall?, an even...

To Swim or not to Swim?
Advantages: Keeps you fit, gives you a challenge, gives you self confidence, makes you feel good!
Disadvantages: Swimming requires a swimming pool, if you don't have one near by then you are a very unlucky!
...I have worked as a lifeguard for 10 months this year and during that period of time I have been in the best shape of my life. Swimming is a dream sport in my honest opinion because it combines a full body workout with little or no risk of harm to the vast majority of able bodied people. I recommend swimming to anyone who wants to lose weight, improve their physical fitness and build confidence. Simply check out some photos of swimmers on google images to see what regular swimming exercise can do for you.
Firstly it is important to find a good swimming pool, there many in my home city of Norwich(UK) some being more respectable than others. Make sure you research your local pools and find what?s best for you. It is important that the water be clean and the centre be tidy and well organised, another important consideration is...

Forest Park Hotel - Platres - Cyprus - Simply Brilliant
Advantages: Family Friendly - Exceptional Service - Great Value and Location
Disadvantages: None
...INTRODUCTION
As a frequent visitor to Cyprus during the summer - my father-in-law has a modest beachfront property near Larnaka - we often head up to the Troodos Mountains mid-holiday for a few days to escape the heat. In the height of summer, the temperature is invariably a good 5° to 10° C cooler than on the coast, the air quality is fantastic (scented delightfully by the indigenous evergreen pine trees) and a few days away makes a lovely ?break within a break?.
A BIT ABOUT PLATRES
Our destination of choice is the popular winter resort town of Pano (Upper) Plátres, which is about a forty minute (about 40km) leisurely drive north from the outskirts of Limassol, and about an hour and a half from our base in Larnaka. It is on the southern slopes of the Troodos mountain range, which gives the place a charm lacking in...

SWIMMING WITH THE FISHIES AND THE MER-FOLK
Advantages: A GREAT WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH, BOOST YOUR CONFIDENCE AND MAKE YOU SMILE
Disadvantages: CAN BE A WEE BIT CHILLY IN THE WINTER ... BRRRRR!!!!
...Swimming
*****My History of Water*****
My lasting memory of early reading experiences is that I would read the pictures rather than the words. I would be quite happy creating my own little stories from the illustrations, instead of depending on what the author had actually written on the page. I can remember very vividly, sitting next to my mum on our brown faux leather sofa some time during the winter of 1980-81, with my stomach tied in knots because I couldn't read the word 'enormous'. We were reading The Enormous Turnip at the time and that blasted word was on every single page!
Now you may be wondering, and rightly so, what on earth all this has to do with the subject of swimming. Well let me tell you in a single word. Confidence.
I love to read. As a grown up I devour books. I love to write. I love to talk. Words are my...

Swim down under!
Advantages: Easy to watch - start to finish.
Disadvantages: You may need tissues.
...actress.
Jesse Spencer, this guy is lush. If you ever watched Neibours you may remember the young Billy Kennedy! He played the main part of Swimming Upstream as Tony fingleton incredibly well.
Tim Draxi plays Tonys brother in the film and also plays the role extrembly well. Draxi has featured in several other Austrailian films. None of which I can comment on.
:::The plot:::
Okay, take a deep breath we've finally arrived at the most important part of the review - the plot.
Dora and Harold Fingleton have five children:
Tony
John
Harold Jr.
Ronald
Diane
The era is the 1950's and the country is Australia. This true life story follows the footsteps of Tony Fingleton a young lad who is looking for acceptance from his father. A lad who tries his hardest to achieve everything he can, not for his own sake but for his...

Swimming pool
Advantages: something new
Disadvantages: can be seen only on the film festivals
..."Swimming Pool", film seen first time at Cannes Film Festival 2003, sees France and Europe on most decadent, daring and inventive way. Francois Ozon writer and film director strikes again with this time British actress, Charlotte Rampling. Sarah Morton (Rampling) is a famous British mystery author. Tired of London, seeking inspiration for her new novel, she accepts an offer from her publisher John Bosload (Charles Dance) to stay at his home in middle of nowhere in France. It is early off-season, so Sarah hopes to find the beautiful country inspiring – until late one night, when John’s wild French daughter Julie (Sagnier) unexpectedly arrives. Sarah is at first, more than English-alike reserve, finding Julie reckless and sexually charged lifestyle repulsive. Their interactions set off an increasingly unsettling series...

An Insiders Review of Cyprus!
Advantages: Beautiful clear, warm sea
Disadvantages: Locals will wack up prices for tourists
...I know I've written a lot of reviews recently but it's keeping me entertained while I'm not working and milling around the house, so I hope you can all keep up!! My keyboard on my computer is also a bit naff so please excuse the fact that I can't include any pound signs in my review!!
I lived in Cyprus for nine months last year so have a load of information to give. So this is going to be a long one so I hope you aren't all bored to tears by the time you get to the bottom but here we go...
ABOUT CYPRUS:
I lived on the north west coast of Cyprus in a small town called Polis which is about an hour north of Pafos. This area benefits from being relatively unspoilt so you get to see more of the 'real' Cyprus rather than Pafos which is so commercial now it is pretty much like a hot England! Polis is starting to expand however...

BEST BEACH IN CYPRUS NOT TO MENTION THE DIVING
Advantages: Perfect for Diving & All Watersports,Clubs, bars
Disadvantages: Holiday is never long enough.
...Situated on the south east part of the beautiful island of Cyprus Protaras is famous for its beautiful coastline especially for its renowned beach- Fig Tree Bay, it really is beautiful, and conveniently it is 5/10 minutes from Ayia Napa!
This picturesque resort is very popular with divers with a plethora of diving clubs available. The sea is sparklingly clear and clean making it a real pleasure for swimming and snorkelling as well. The resort is an attractive one with a good choice of accomodation, bars, restaurants,car/bike hire and several supermarkets.
It is not an expensive resort - restaurant prices represent good value for money, there is often free wine with meals in restaurants, entry to the clubs is cheap (and rather nicely includes free drinks all night!)the cocktail prices are about £1 each (watch out these are large...

Tsokkos Gardens Hotel, Protaras, Cyprus
Advantages: Lovely hotel, Hot in October, Four hours from Gatwick
Disadvantages: Bit of a walk to the beach, souvenirs are completely tackky!
...This is a review of a package holiday to a specific hotel in Protaras rather than an overall review of the resort.
Seven nights HB at the 4* Tsokkos Gardens Hotel, Protaras, Cyprus
October, 2002
Through Goldensun - booked over the internet.
We paid £844 each for two adults + £292 for one child.
Our first visit to Cyprus
Flight
We flew with Eurocypria on the 10.10pm out of Gatwick arriving at Larnaca in the small hours. There was no in flight entertainment at all so don't forget your Walkman or a large paperback. The journey was a bit of a trial, fortunately our five year old slept on the plane which made life a bit easier. The final transfer from the airport to the hotel seemed to take ages, dropping off at about four hotels before finally arriving at the Tsokkos Gardens at about 6 am local time.
The hotel…...
