...I am 19 now but first had a car when I was 17 on a provisional licence. I called many different insurance company's and found on average most of the quotations to be over £800.00. The quotes were for a Metro 1.1 insured for Third Party Fire And Theft. I found that 'Swinton' were the most helpful and cheapest company to be with. They gave me helpful advice which I did not have from the other company's. Most Insurance company's gave me a negative attitude and treated me like a 3 year old. I stayed with Swinton for my first year and earned my no claims bonus and then on the second year I changed company's as I did manage to find a quote about £60.00 cheaper. But 3 months later I changed my car to a Peugeot 106. I then had more quotes with other company's and decided to go back to Swinton as yet again I could not beat their quote... Read review

...I have used Swinton as a broker for my car insurance on and off for four/five years. Up to now I have no reason to complain. In May my car was stolen form outside my girlfriends house, it was recovered and taken off to be repaired. It is now almost October and I haven't got my car back! After a series of letters, visits to the shop, Swinton giving out my number wrongly to the garage, its been a nightmare. The garage asked for my driving licence, which is with the DVLA due to taking Class 1 tests... they would not release the car, I have not been able to get a car in the mean time from Swinton. I have since cancelled my policy because of time taken, please beware on taking out insurance through this broker as I am not the only one who has had problems with Swinton.... Read review

...I want to tell my sorry story with Swinton too. Be warned - don't use them!! We took out car insurance in 2005 - expensive but we didn't check around for better - and all seemed well, except they automatically charged us "payment protection" which we didn't ask for nor were told about. We were only alerted to that when they wrote saying they had discovered we were not eligible, being retired, so said they'd send us a refund. That was in 2007. We waited, and waited, no refund, but our mail had been going missing so we left it a while, then phoned, and phoned. Then - mail from Swinton! Yipee... NO, it was a request for us to RENEW with them. Too late, we'd already found somebody cheaper and more efficient. ...I used to insure my car with Swintons. Once upon a time I was lucky enough to be able to buy a new car. It was bought on finance so I knew I would need fully comprehensive cover. Swintons found me an excellent quote and I was very pleased. They were able to provide immediate cover, by telephone, so I went ahead as I was keen to collect the car as soon as possible. I stayed with Swintons for four years and had no problems. Direct debits from my bank account were correctly taken and every time renewal was due I was sent a new, competitive quote, followed by the certificate, in good time. I always got first class service and used to recommend them to my friends. One day I had to make a claim. I had never had to do this before, but knew that I must inform my insurance company at once. ...Its just too easy to deal with people like Swinton Insurance and thats why i guess so many people use them, just ring them up, hand over the relevant information and let them do all the searching to find the best quote. Sounds fine done it, well i decided about 7 years ago to take the easy option and all i can think about is how much money i have wasted over the years.
