Anyone for Muesli
Review of Best Western Swiss Cottage Hotel, London by
andymcf
Advantages: Good value, nicely decorated, comfortable and well located
Disadvantages: Very few, although some rooms seemed to be in need of a bit of basic maintenance
...We stayed at this hotel recently when visiting Josh’s Godparents for a barbeque; and this may, indeed, come as something of a surprise. A barbeque at a Swiss Cottage? Surely I mean a fondue!
I have not lost my marbles. If you book this hotel, hoping to see young men in tight leather shorts, playing alpine horns, yodelling and enjoying a traditionally neutral military stance then you’ll probably be very disappointed, for this is not a Swiss Cottage. No! Swiss Cottage is essentially the name of a road junction on the A41 linking Central London to the affluent north-west suburb of Hampstead, and the Swiss Cottage hotel is conveniently located for Hampstead and its environs in a quiet side road, a couple of hundred yards from Swiss Cottage tube station.
The location is pretty good. If you want to be near Hampstead, as we did...

A "weir"ly wonderful cottage
Review of Weir Cottage, Dunsford, Devon by
getscenic
Advantages: Peaceful, well appointed, great views, lovely setting
Disadvantages: having to come home
...Weir Cottage our Devon retreat for the last six years on and off. The pictures will speak more about this wonderful place than any of my words. But I will to give you a flavour of just how good this Cottage is.
In 2000 we were looking for what seemed the impossible when we came across this gem in the English Country Cottage brochure.
My ideal cottage; not in a village, not a barn conversion, no neighbours, not joined to the owners house and definitely not in a complex of other cottages. So this ticked all the boxes, and only 8 miles from the M5.
Located in the Teign Valley on the outskirts of the village Dunsford the cottage stands alone on a quite road on the banks of the river Teign. I remember our first visit being totally amazed when we got there. It was like no other cottage we had stayed in, the setting and the quality...

River Dyfi cottage..a fairytale retreat.
Review of River Dyfi Cottage by
christina44
Advantages: Scenic.Traffic free.Mountains..so many.
Disadvantages: Few.see op.
...At last the Ciao team have added this catagory request!
DISCLAIMER:
**Please note there is an unapplicable bit on the end- for some reason ciao have put this in the wrong cat. but not my fault! And this cat, would not let me submit without pressing either tent or caravan-which is neither-so please bear in mind this is a 4 star graded welsh tourist board holiday Cottage; situated in the heart of the central north wales mountains, not far from the Snowdonia heights.
A smallish countryside holiday cottage-ok?
and NOT a caravan/camp site!! ***
.. Now,close your eyes as I take you into the dream of North Wales..where the people are authentically welsh- NOT black country/brummy! (no offense! but the slightly more Eastern north wales side is very close to the borders with Birmingham..so... no offense to brummey's tho!)this part...

Review of the Victorinox Century Swiss Army Knife
Review of Victorinox - Swiss Army Knife by
freelancer1
Advantages: Sharp serrated blade, attractive design.
Disadvantages: None that spring to mind.
...I am a little bit sad. You see, I'm a pen knife anorak...
I have four of the things, and use them for camping trips, jobs around the house and those bizarre tasks that pop up from time to time (ever got a lump of chewing gum stuck to your shoe before a meeting?!?) In short - I KNOW about penknives.
Features of the Victorinox Swiss Army Century Swiss Army Knife
Serrated/Straight blade - this is pulled out from the cover by gripping a little groove on the back of the blade. It is made of stainless steel, so it won't rust, and it "locks" when it is in line with the handle. The blade is 4" long and has about 60% serrated edge and 40% straight edge. It is an incredibly sharp blade that cuts just about anything - string...

Don't miss this Swiss bliss!
Review of Marks and Spencer Swiss Milk Extra Fine Chocolate by
jammy_banana
Advantages: wonderfully smooth chocolate
Disadvantages: a wee bit more expensive
...There is a very famous quote comparing Italy and Switzerland. Something along the lines of the Swiss have had 500 years of democracy and peace and all they have given the world is the cuckoo clock whereas the Italians who have had 500 years of turmoil have given the world so many more useful inventions. Well good for Italy.
But the Swiss have not just given the world the cuckoo clock. Far from it. You see the Swiss are responsible for much chocolate innovation which I feel has been overlooked by the world at large. Swiss chocolate ranks as among the finest in the world. So what if they haven’t managed to make any great inventions, they’ve made damn good chocolate.
Over the years I have been lucky enough to sample some genuine, bona fide, bought in Switzerland Swiss Chocolate when friends have travelled to the little nation...

Siam Cottage...Well Worth A Visit
Review of Siam Cottage (Chelmsford) by
wampyrii
Advantages: great food, authentic atmosphere, easy access
Disadvantages: little pricey compared to the rest of the area
...If you are looking for a great place to eat in Chelmsford then there really are only two main choices - the trendy London-style Bada in Bromfield Road(subject of a previous review) or the superb Eastern delights of Siam Cottage in Moulsham Street. Whilst you can eat on a reasonable budget at Bada its a different matter at Siam Cottage, so if you’re feeling in the mood for some Thai food then you’d better bring your credit card because it could work out a costly affair...but you certainly get what you pay for!
~Design~
Siam Cottage is a Thai restaurant built inside an old 16th century cottage in Moulsham Street Chelmsford. Whilst external appearances look rather unappealing, rather like an old cottage with smokey glassed restaurant facade slapped on it, internally it is absolutely gorgeous - the contrast is amazing. I have to say...

Cottages in the heart of the Lakes
Review of http://www.cumbrian-cottages.co.uk by
blissman70
Advantages: Beauty,peaceful and spacious.
Disadvantages: the uncontrollable weather
...Cumbrian cottages is an agency which sells and rents holiday cottages throughout the Lake District.
As I have only used the rental side of the company I can only review this:
The website.
www.cumbrian-cottages.co.uk, is easy to navigate and quickly informs whether a property is available. It is open 24 hours a day so you can browse the vast amount of cottages any time.
All the cottages on the site are listed in alphabetical order or by reference number and the website gives a perfect description of each individual cottage, featuring images and sizes.
There are so many to choose from that you may be on-line for quite some time.
When you have made a choice of cottage then the booking process is so simple a three year old could book a weeks holiday in Keswick if they had your card details, (so hide your Credit cards).
A fee...

Ewwww, I don't like cottage cheese
Review of Morrisons Cottage Cheese with Pineapple by
mum2natalie
Advantages: Easy snack food
Disadvantages: none
...I used to say that a lot. There's not much I don't like (gherkins bleurggggghhh) and I used to count cottage cheese as one of them.
Bring on some weird and wonderful fast weight loss diet involving crackers and cottage cheese and I HAD to face the demon and try it again.
It only took a cracker or too to convert me - honestly, I could eat cottage cheese every day now!
Cottage cheese with crackers, cottage cheese with salad, cottage cheese with jacket potato, cottage cheese with cottage cheese. I love the stuff.
My favourite favourite has to be the one with pineapple in it tho. I've tried most of the other flavours and this one comes out top all the time.
I've bought it from most of the supermarkets too, Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons. They are all pretty similar, and they always offer a variety of flavours...

Swiss Vanilla Protein Conditioner
Review of St Ives Swiss Formula Swiss Vanilla by
kateteen
Advantages: Delicious smell, does its job
Disadvantages: Doesn't feel good on wet hair
...Swiss Vanilla Protein Conditioner- OK, OK. So I know that this isn't in the right category but this is the closest I could get as Ciao don't give us the ability to suggest new brands, only products.
OK, so its a conditioner with the usual claims covering the packaging: leaves hair beautifully soft and manageable, radiating with health, body and shine.
Theres nothing there out of the ordinary, no claim that isn't made on almost every other conditioner bottle. The thing that attracted me to this conditioner was the name: Swiss Vanilla Protein Conditioner. Like almost everyone I know, I love vanilla. No, I adore it. I use vanilla room sprays, scented candles, perfume, shower gel, bath bubbles, the works. Vanilla is my absolute favourite smell. I think I've made my point anyway.
This conditioner is designed for normal hair. My...

giantpanda21
Advantages: It is a great book
Disadvantages: None
...I bought this book a few years ago i had heard of the author James Herbert as my mum has a few books of his and i saw this book The Magic Cottage. It looked like a book i would read and i thought i would buy it and give it a read.
