Review of the Victorinox Century Swiss Army Knife
Review of Victorinox - Swiss Army Knife by
freelancer1
Advantages: Sharp serrated blade, attractive design.
Disadvantages: None that spring to mind.
...I am a little bit sad. You see, I'm a pen knife anorak...
I have four of the things, and use them for camping trips, jobs around the house and those bizarre tasks that pop up from time to time (ever got a lump of chewing gum stuck to your shoe before a meeting?!?) In short - I KNOW about penknives.
Features of the Victorinox Swiss Army Century Swiss Army Knife
Serrated/Straight blade - this is pulled out from the cover by gripping a little groove on the back of the blade. It is made of stainless steel, so it won't rust, and it "locks" when it is in line with the handle. The blade is 4" long and has about 60% serrated edge and 40% straight edge. It is an incredibly sharp blade that cuts just about anything - string, rope...

Transport from heaven
Review of Switzerland Transport by
greatmum1
Advantages: Efficient and realiable
Disadvantages: None
...Swiss Transport System
Last year we went to Switzerland in May bank holiday. My Swiss experience has been unforgettable. You might think why did I wait so long for writing a review? Well, there is so much to write, I did not know where to start and where to finish. Two things I liked the most about Switzerland- Swiss transport and Swiss refuse disposal system. Well I do want to start writing about garbage first, so I will start with the transport system.
The transport network consists of rail, buses, boats and cable cars- all accessed by one pass. The punctuality is beyond expectation- I am not sure if they set their clocks by train time or the other way round!
When to book: ---------If you wish to visit Switzerland, its best to book before you go there. The travel centre in London is very helpful. You could look up over the internet...

Brought to you by the swiss alps!
Review of Toblerone by
tillsy7
Advantages: Smooth, chunky, silky, well textured, and original with shape and use of nougat
Disadvantages: Foil wraped, can be akward to transport, and may be hard to break
...Now here are bars of chocolate designed in the shape of a triangular prism. I mean chocolate just got funky when this was created. There is a good use of word play here. The chocolate itself is swiss, and they are designed representing mountain, the swiss alps to be precise. which is ingenious. Do you see French chocolate in the shape of the Eiffel Tower, or British chocolate the shape of the Tower of London...No i think not! Everyone who knows this chocolate, most would agree they found it when at a duty free of an airport, right? Right! Thats how I found it, the milk one, then i got tempted by the white then the dark. Its combination of smooth, luxurious chocolate with tiny bits of nougat, quiet frankly is the stuff of legends. Cheep, stylish and most of all perfect for any lover of chocolate. A definite must eat!...

For Those Who Need Gadgets
Review of Victorinox - Swiss Army Knife by
richardjmeek
Advantages: very useful
Disadvantages: have to watch where you take it
...Everyone has heard of the Swiss army knife and many of the readers may even have one or an imitation. The Victorinox Swiss Army Knife is by far the best quality version available with international awards for quality for both its models at UK Jewellery Awards.
The Swiss Army Knife basically is a multi-purpose knife containing various tools such as screwdrivers, tweezers, bottle openers corkscrews etc. The official Swiss Army Knife comes in 2 models either the traditional knife like model or the credit card version. I prefer the standard version myself as it is a lot more robust and the tools are bigger and more functional. The credit card version is ideal for carrying with you every day in your wallet except maybe in the pub or in nightclubs where it is not acceptable.
These knives are both very well made and very robust. Beware...

Swiss Army Huntsman Knife - Not Just For Hunting!
Review of Swiss Army Huntsman Knife by
Haxrskilz
Advantages: Plenty of tools, small size.
Disadvantages: Pricing could be considered steep, tweezers and toothpicks easily lost.
...*Product*
Small, smart, safe - three words out of many that could be used to describe how useful the Swiss Army Huntsman Knife is. With a size being slightly smaller than an average male middle-finger, and yet still thinner than a thumbs width, it is no wonder that it is more commonly known as a the more popular 'Pocketknife' - a place where it is perfectly safe to hold, might I add.
As with most items, the size has no impact on the innards of the instrument, although it is definitely helpful that it can slide neatly in and out of the palm of your hand, but, have no qualms about it; the durable plastic outer-shell (usually in a firetruck red, but comes in a range of colours) a slight grip of the hand will keep it in place.
As with all Swiss Army Knives, this comes with strong stainless steel and some dangerously sharp edges (Warning: Do...

Don't miss this Swiss bliss!
Review of Marks and Spencer Swiss Milk Extra Fine Chocolate by
jammy_banana
Advantages: wonderfully smooth chocolate
Disadvantages: a wee bit more expensive
...There is a very famous quote comparing Italy and Switzerland. Something along the lines of the Swiss have had 500 years of democracy and peace and all they have given the world is the cuckoo clock whereas the Italians who have had 500 years of turmoil have given the world so many more useful inventions. Well good for Italy.
But the Swiss have not just given the world the cuckoo clock. Far from it. You see the Swiss are responsible for much chocolate innovation which I feel has been overlooked by the world at large. Swiss chocolate ranks as among the finest in the world. So what if they haven’t managed to make any great inventions, they’ve made damn good chocolate.
Over the years I have been lucky enough to sample some genuine, bona fide, bought in Switzerland Swiss Chocolate when friends have travelled to the little nation...

Chalet Suisse in Kuala Lumpur
Review of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) by
zorbay
Advantages: Nice atmosphere.Easy parking. Attentive service
Disadvantages: Pricey
...The Chalet Suisse restaurant at C11-Jalan Ampang Utama1/1 specialises in traditional Swiss cuisine and has already made its mark on the gastronomic scence in Kuala Lumpur, winning several awards. The place is open for lunch from 11 am to 3 pm (Monday to Friday) and open for dinner from 6 pm to 11.30 pm (Monday to Sunday).
The restaurant is very warm and homely with the decor of a Swiss chalet being paramount. There are pinewood walls and a host of antiques including the famous Swiss cuckoo clock. The service is attentive, efficient and the waiters clearly have been well trained. Although they are Malaysians they are all dressed up in Swiss costumes.
What about the food? The menu is not very extensive. Among starters are seafood dishes such as crab and prawn chowder, onion soup, salads and air-dried beef. There are a number of fondue dishes...

Shh, it's a secret
Review of The Swiss, the Gold, and the Dead - Jean Ziegler by
JVL
Advantages: Meticulously researched, fascinating subject
Disadvantages: A bit dry at times, not pleasant reading
...When someone mentions Switzerland, what is the first thing that pops into your mind? Toblerone? The Alps? Maybe cuckoo clocks? These are just three images that modern-day Switzerland uses to market itself around the globe, but for centuries now, the Swiss cantons have also been bywords for democratic government and neutrality, as well as being the home of the most secretive, confidential banking procedures, with anonymous accounts and total discretion guaranteed for any and all foreign investors.
Idi Amin, Mobutu Sese Seko, Saddam Hussein and many other despots and tyrants have salted money away, stolen millions taken from their own people and used to make a nest-egg for the inevitable when they were toppled from power and forced to flee abroad. Swiss bankers have continued to take their money, safe in the knowledge that banking...

TRIFLE
Review of Quick and Easy Recipes by
KIWIMULLAN03
Advantages: EASY
Disadvantages: NONE
...This is a really simple triffle:-
You will need:-
Plan swiss roll (not Chocolate) (Medium)
Jelly – Any Flavour
Tinned Peaches (standard)
Tinned Pinapples (small)
Double Cream
Flake 1
Smarties 1 tube
Chocolate Buttons – 1 bag
Single Cream (large)
Firstly you need to make your jelly and swive the Peaches and the pinapples so there is no juice in them. Then do the jelly, but don’t put as much water in the jelly otherwise it will not set with all the fruit – as the fruit holds some water that they are in when in the tin.
Once this has been done, you then need to slice the swiss roll up and lay it at the bottom of your trifle bowl. Then once the jelly is set then scoop the jelly and loosen it up in the bowl, (this makes it easier to get out when serving) then put it onto of the swiss roll.
Then mix your double cream up into it is thick...
